[Top 3] Team Fortress 2 Best Soldier Loadouts That Are Great

In Team Fortress 2, your playstyle isn’t only influenced by your class, but your loadout plays a big role in it as well. TF2 has a wide array of weapon choices with all sorts of gimmicks that allow you to lean into certain playstyles.

The Soldier is one of the most versatile classes in TF2. His weapon options reflect this trait, having a wide array of gimmicks and alternate playtyles you can opt to go for in order to spice up your soldier gameplay!

1. Rocket Jumper + The Mantreads + Market Gardener

This loadout has been a staple ever since these three weapons were released. Nicknamed the “Trolldier,” this loadout is mainly used by Soldiers who are looking to have fun rocket jumping around the map, instead of trying to win matches or build up killstreaks. The primary playstyle of this loadout is to rocket jump and use either the Mantreads or the Market Gardener to kill players.

It has no practical value in competitive matches, but that doesn’t make it any less fun to play with!

Loadout Details:

Rocket Jumper

  • +200% max primary ammo on wearer
  • No self-inflicted blast damage taken
  • 100% damage penalty
  • No random critical hits
  • Wearer cannot carry the intelligence briefcase or PASS Time JACK

The Mantreads

  • 75% reduction in push force taken from damage
  • Deals 3x falling damage to the player you land on
  • 75% reduction in airblast vulnerability
  • 200% increased air control when blast jumping

Market Gardener

  • Deals crits when the wielder is rocket jumping
  • 20% slower firing speed
  • No random critical hits

Advantages:

  • The Rocket Jumper and Mantreads maximizes the soldier’s rocket jumping abilities, making its only limit the player’s skill at rocket jumping.
  • The Mantreads and Market Gardener are at their most effective when rocket jumping, and the Rocket Jumper maximizes that.
  • People rarely ever look up in casual lobbies; meaning that, if you do your job right, the enemy will rarely ever see you coming!

2. Rocket Launcher + Gunboats + Escape Plan

Also known as the “Roamer Soldier,” this loadout is a staple in casual and competitive lobbies. A Roamer’s playstyle is to “roam” around the map by rocket jumping, flanking and bombarding the enemy team from above. You’re also tasked with preventing Roamers on the enemy team from doing the same!

Loadout Details:

Rocket Launcher

The Gunboats

  • -60% blast damage from rocket jumps

Escape Plan

  • Move speed increases as the user becomes injured
  • You are marked for death while active, and for short period after switching weapons
  • 50% less healing from Medic sources

Advantages:

  • With the gunboats, you can now reliably rocket jump as Soldier while still using a rocket launcher that can deal damage.

3. Black Box + Concheror + Shovel

It’s not rare to see this loadout in casual lobbies. Nicknamed the “Immortal Soldier,” people with this loadout are often seen on the frontlines, using their health buffs to thrive while supporting the team with speed/lifesteal buffs every once in a while to attack or defend an objective. It’s a useful loadout if you think that you’re too susceptible to dying or if you think your team needs support on top of a Medic and an Engineer.

Loadout Details:

Black Box

  • On Hit: Gain up to +20 health per attack
  • -25% clip size

The Concheror

  • +4 health regenerated per second on wearer
  • Provides group speed buff with damage done giving health
  • Gain rage with damage

Shovel

Advantages:

  • The combination of the Black Box and the Concheror makes the soldier a self-sustaining tank in the frontlines, able to regenerate health idly and gain health when dealing damage.
  • If the Soldier lives long enough and deals enough damage, they can also provide a speed and lifesteal buff to their team, giving them a significant advantage during team fights and the like.
