1. Powerscaling
Most animes, new and old, often start off with a typical premise of powers between protagonists and antagonists. It’s usually clear that the antagonist is much stronger than the protagonist and the main character’s journey is mainly about surpassing that power in an extreme fashion. Where Demon Slayer deviates from this trend is how it portrays some of its strongest characters.
While lower ranking demons of the 12 Kizuki are capable of wiping out a large portion of the Demon Slayer corps, the Hashira vary in their abilities. While they may be stronger than the average demon slayer, that doesn’t mean a guaranteed victory amongst the ranks of the 12 Kizuki. Knowing that the Hashira are just as vulnerable as those in the demon slaying corps make the stakes that much higher, and Tanjiro’s journey that much more intense.
2. Animation
While the premise of Demon Slayer is simple, the animation is by far some of the flashiest and the cleanest we’ve ever seen in the industry. Even the attacks that the demon slayers do are animated in great detail with bright and exciting colors. The author of the series has gone on the record to say that the attacks we see in the anime aren’t real, but instead what the soldiers see when they do the attack. It's an interesting artistic choice to say the least.
3. The environments
Tying in with the visuals, the environments in Demon Slayer are breathtaking and accurate. The series takes place in the olden days of Japan, meaning so much of the scenes in Demon Slayer take place in lush fields, healthy forests, and grand buildings built in the style of feudal Japan. Fans of the series are fond of this aspect as it adds to the grounded feel of the show.
4. The Music
Demon’s Slayer’s soundtrack is as intense and suspenseful as its anime counterparts currently occupying the industry. However, where the series differs in its sound is the certain instruments it uses for its more intimate moments. Chimes and wind instruments are emphasized throughout the series to give the series aare more whimsical, wondrous feel at times. The instruments combined with breathtaking scenery creates a truly magnificent atmosphere.
5. Tanjiro
Every good anime has a great protagonist, that much is undeniable. Tanjiro is the star of Demon Slayer, but his soft personality and motivations are his character itself is what makes fans adore him so much. After losing his family to a sudden demon attack, he is now tasked with taking care of his little sister Nezuko, who is now a half demon. Tanjiro does all this while being the kindest, genuine, most noble soul in the series. His motivation of being a strong good Demon Slayer is not to slay demons, but to find a cure for his sister and find peace in his life.
6. Kyojuro Rengoku
I know it may seem a little unfair to pick and choose Hashiras, but this is definitely warranted, I assure you. Kyojuro Rengoku is another fan favorite of the series, as his gallant performance in the film “Infinity Train” captured the heartsheart of fans across the world. A testament to his popularity is clearly seen in the newly added episodes of thate arc that solely focuses on Rengoku’s duties as a Hashira before embarking on the Infinity Train
7.Muzan
What’s a great protagonist without an antagonista antagonist to match the conflict at hand angreat antagonist? Kibutsuji Muzan is the head honcho and strongest demon of all the 12 Kizuki. He’s every bit as villainousof villainous as you would expect, every time he appears on screen he not only takes on a new appearance, but he also treats his own subordinates with the utmost cruelty. Fans of the series are filled with suspense and fear whenever he appears, because they know that the moment that he and Tanjiro clash is only getting closer.
8. The Manga
As is the case with most anime, the Demon Slayer anime was derived from its manga. With over 140 million copies in circulation, the series has made its case as one of the most successful and popular to grace the Shonen Jump magazine. As it currently stands the manga has already concluded its final arc and Tanjiro’s story has come to a close. Fans of the series who are eager to see what’s next have the luxury of peeping into the manga to have insight as to what the next arc will entail.
9. The action
Demon sSlayers within the series typically used specially made swords to combat the demons. While this is a staple for most animes, Demon Slayer shines in its aggressive realistic approach.. Most demon slayers within the corps are not really that strong, and even the Hashiras are not as mighty as you’d think. Having this in mind makes the battles all the more suspenseful, as fans truly do not know who will come up on top. Each encounter with the 12 Kizuki is more tragic than the next, racking up casualties and injuries in its wake.
10. Voice Acting
The voices for these characters, Whether it be demons or slayers, are some of the most passionate and realistic I'vei’ve heard in a long time. As an avid fan, I’ve already grown accustomed to the amount of shouting and over exaggerated sound effects that come with anime, but Demon Slayer’s cast is simply phenomenal. When they shout, they shout with true desperation, and when they cry, they cry real emotional tears that would melt anyone’s heart.
