Open world crime games are known for their mature themes and violent content, Mafia 3 being no different. In this video we see, among other things, just how far Mafia pushes the envelope. This video shows a topic that is extremely controversial, in and out of games, and that is racism. 1960s America was an extremely turbulent time in terms of racial equality, with the civil rights movement taking place during this time. Mafia 3 tackles this theme and makes it central to the plot. So much so that even as the player walks down the street they can hear NPCs make derogatory comments towards them. While some may find this offensive, I believe it’s important to show in order to be faithful to the times.

These videos, while not showing EVERYTHING that Mafia 3 has to offer, definitely give us a taste of what it has in store for gamers. Whether you’re a fan of open world crime games or just someone who likes mafia movies, Mafia 3 is sure to please.
