Many things were swept away by the COVID-19 tsunami. Events were delayed, shows stopped filming, movies got murdered, and society stood still. Among the casualties of this outbreak was the Sword Art Online series. Pronounced the final season, Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld Part 2 was initially set to debut on April 25. As one of the most anxiously anticipated sequels of the season, Sword Art Online fans were dismayed by the date being pushed back. As an answer to the fans, A-1 Pictures has set a time for the SAO finale.
What To Expect
In the last edition of SAO: Alicization War of Underworld, only two plot points were left to ponder how they are going to save Alice from Vecta and the identity of Gabriel’s goon. They could have built the suspense a bit better, but that would have made the wait all the more painful. The SAO opening song titled “ANIMA” will be performed by ReoNa from the Happy Sugar Life (TV) ED. While the ending song titled “I will...” sung by Eri Aoi, the voice behind previous SAO opening themes, the Kill la Kill OP, Aldnoah Zero ED, and even Fate/Zero and Grand Order EDs. With the exceptional composer Yuki Kajiura (the composer of the Demon Slayer ED, Black Butler S1 & S2 ED, and Baccano ED), the SAO soundtrack is sure to be stunning. That’s not all. The director of the Da Capo and Inuyasha series, Gou Suzuki, will team up with CANAAN and Love Live director Tomoya Nishiguchi. And last but most definitely not least, Shingo Adachi, the Naruto and Belzebub animation director. What a lineup! *whistles* With A-1 pulling out the stops like this, suspect a crisp character design and a symphonic soundtrack.
When Is It Coming Out?
A-1 Pictures recently announced that they would premiere SAO: Alicization War of Underworld Part 2 on July 14, 2020, to calm the commotion. With the stirring team the A-1 studio has stitched together, expect an epic curtain call to the Sword Art Online Series.
