As bugs are patched and players are getting comfortable on Agents, the power balance of abilities is becoming apparent. Ah yes, Sage. She’s been seeing nerfs every patch, and 1.02 is no exception. Another Agent that’s excelling is Cypher; which means he’s getting a nerf as well. The specifics of the nerfs aren’t explicit, but nerfs can only make an Agent weaker. Cyphers nerfs are hard to decipher, but Sage’s nerfs will definitely be towards her healing, as it is the only thing worth nerfing. A cooldown increase was given on the last patch, so maybe this patch reduces the rate or amount of healing. On the other side of the power spectrum is Viper. Her high skill ceiling and unsatisfying ability performance puts her in the pipeline to receive buffs. So expect to see Viper performing a bit better next patch.
Ranked Mode's Shot at Redemption
With the initial model of the ranked game modes deemed a disaster, Riot is ready to give ranked another try. Now that players are learning to wield the power of abilities and wish to prove their skill, the competitive ranking mode will be rolled out on patch 1.02 as well. You’ll now have an understandable, but not an acceptable reason to be toxic during a match.
Hey everyone, It's been hectic, so I haven't had a lot of time to post. To answer the biggest question: rated (competitive mode) will likely be out some time next week. We're spending this week putting together that release and making sure it is good. =)

Giving Way in the Face of Difficulty
On the same note, there’s nothing worse than being held hostage in a full-blown game for the entire length of the match. To cure this cancer, Riot Games seek to include a surrender feature for the weary and weak-minded player. By the same token, if you feel you can’t take your teammates anymore, your savior is on its way.
Valorant Devs Are Tightening Vanguard's Leash
Last, but most definitely not least, Vanguard. A menacing anti-cheat that strikes fear into the hearts of cheaters and honest players alike. This unchecked anti-cheat has been wreaking havoc and sticking its nose where it doesn’t belong for far too long. Errors have popped up in any place they could fit, and people are tired. Riot Games seeks to address some of these issues come next patch. Hopefully, the Vanguard of patch 1.02 will be a bit more palatable.
