What are the best shields the game has on offer?
Origins was the first in the series to introduce shield as part of the completely revamped combat system. And guess what, enemy soldiers love to use your shield for target practice with their bows. It was very refreshing to see this new way of deflecting attacks, rather than just using your sword to parry – it’s also historically accurate.
5. Scorpion shield
The style that perfectly matches the game's desert setting
Beautiful, disturbing, intimidating – these are the first thoughts that come to my mind when I look at it. Imagine seeing a mysterious battle-scarred desert wanderer having a giant scorpion on his back. You wouldn’t know if it’s a mirage or a real person. You can poison your opponent with the shield when you block their attack, how convenient.
Why Scorpion Shield is Great:
- Max quality level: 123
- Max health level: 1202
- Adrenaline on parry IV
- Damage absorption value II
- Poison on block
How to get Scorpion Shield:
You can grab it by buying the Undead Pack DLC. You will also get a legendary horse, a sword and a bow with the pack. Not part of the Season Pass.

4. Vincit Qui Patitur
Blend in and surprise the enemy
The name of the shield translated from Latin means “He conquers who endures”. It represents the strength and mentality of the Roman Empire. At its peak Romans conquered most of Europe and a large part of the Middle East, including Egypt. Think of this shield as a good disguise when going against Naughtius Maximus.
Why Vincit Qui Patitur is Great:
- Max quality level: 122
- Max health level: 1202
- Melee resistance III
- Adrenaline on parry II
- Health on parry
How to get Vincit Qui Patitur:
You have to buy the Roman Centurion Pack DLC to get the shield. You will also be treated with a legendary sword, a battle ax, and a horse as seen in the image above.

3. Balance Shield
Was this beautifully decorated equipment crafted from looted treasure?
When you look closely, you can see the dark wings above the golden ones on the shield. They are trying to express the balance of good and evil. The shield is blessed by the priests of Thoth to protect the user from evil – as the game’s description suggests.
Why Balance Shield is Great:
- Max quality level: 123
- Max health level: 1202
- Melee resistance III
- Damage absorption rate III
- Health on parry
How to get Balance Shield:
Purchase the Almighty Pack DLC in the Helix store. With this pack, you will also get your hands on the four weapons from the image above. Alternatively, visit the Nomad’s Bazaar to try your luck and win the shield.
Note this pack is not part of the Season Pass.

2. Medusa’s Gaze
Don't worry, you won't get petrified.
It’s a shame your enemies don’t turn into stone when looking at it. The word medusa in ancient Greek means guardian. She was described as a winged woman with living venomous snakes in place of her hair. It’s interesting to see different cultures mixing in Origins as it’s also historically accurate. Just like in Origins, the Ptolemaic period Egypt was home to many Romans and Greeks alike.
Why Medusa’s Gaze is Great:
- Max quality level: 123
- Max health level: 1202
- Ranged resistance III
- Damage absorption on block III
- Sleep on block (instead of petrifying)
How to get Medusa’s Gaze:
There are multiple ways to get the shield, unfortunately, it’s randomly generated. Reda can reward you with it after completing quests for him, also you can loot it from Heka chests at the Nomad’s Bazaar. It can be a reward for a papyrus puzzle as well.

1. Moonlit Shield
Gods' technology in your hands
Artificial lights and strange symbols decorate this unusual-looking shield. Every little detail is another mystery to be solved. Futuristic isn’t really the word to describe it as it came from the First Civilization, from the ones who came before. A world that once existed, but was destroyed during a disaster – it’s briefly described in previous titles. Sadly, it doesn’t give you superpowers, but it does give you some useful bonuses.
Why Moonlit Shield is Great:
- Max quality level: 123
- Max health level: 1202
- Melee resistance II
- Ranged resistance IV
- Health on parry
How to get Moonlit Shield:
Buy the First Civilization Pack DLC in the Helix Store. You will also get a glowing mace, daggers, bow and a horse. You won’t need a torch at night. Not part of the Season Pass.
