Melee weapons can be a lifesaver when the right situation comes

Call of Duty Warzone is the most popular Battle Royal FPS out there. The game has over 100 million players, so that's a lot of people running around shooting guns. Some players prefer heavy MGs. Others stick to assault rifles, while the "rushers" use an SMG coupled with a sniper.

Sure, there are plenty of cool guns in the game, but sometimes, guns can't help you out of a tight spot. Let's take a quick look at the best melee weapons in Warzone and explain why it's not a bad idea to use them.

1. Riot Shield

None shall pass! - Riot shield as the ultimate defense tool

The riot shield is, well, pretty self-explanatory. It's a big, heavy, metal shield with a ballistic window on top you can use as a melee weapon, however, the riot shield doubles as a portable cover that can protect you from direct fire.

Of course, it's a little bulky and hard to run with, but it can make all the difference in the last zone. If you manage to succeed in training yourself with a shield plus assault rifle loadout, the riot shield can truly become your best friend.

2. Ballistic Knife

The ballistic knife was first introduced in Call of Duty Black Ops back in 2011. It's one of the most popular melee weapons ever since, but it can also fire the blade and use it as a projectile. With that said, you should time fire the knife very carefully as you usually get only one shot at the target.

The ballistic knife is an excellent secondary weapon choice because it allows you to move quickly and gives you an advantage in close combat. It's a one-hit weapon, so you can efficiently run through an entire squad before your enemies know what hit them.

3. Kali Sticks

The kali sticks became a big hit in COD Multiplayer, but some players use them in Warzone as well. It's a dual-wield weapon that allows you to approach and strike down a target very quickly. The weapon is extremely lightweight, allowing players to use movement to their advantage.

One or two hits are enough to incapacitate an enemy, but only if you manage to get close enough. You can try using the Kali sticks with a gillie suit and wait for enemies to come to you.

4. Sledgehammer

If you're looking for a melee weapon with serious damage and awesome animations, the sledgehammer is your best bet. It's currently a part of the starting loadout in the Iron Trials mode. There's nothing funnier than landing in a crowded area running after people while swinging the sledgehammer.

The weapon is very effective, as you don't need more than two hits to down an enemy. It's also a fan favorite in the zombie's mode because it clears out entire hordes in seconds. Lastly, if you're a fan of nasty takedowns, the sledgehammer is definitely one of the most brutal melee weapons in the game.

5. Hammer and sickle

Even though the hammer and sickle melee weapons are only available as a purchase, you can unlock them with a little bit of hard work. You have to make a melee kill and a throwing knife kill in the same life in 15 different matches. It's not easy, but once you get your hands on these iconic weapons from the Russian front, you'll love them!
