The Best ESL Decks to Buy
One of the best parts of Elder Scrolls: Legends is the fact that the in game currency (coins) isn’t all that hard to obtain.
Simply by playing the game well, you can amass a war chest of coins to spend on story lines, puzzles, and theme decks. These pre-constructed decks are a great way to load up on epic and legendary cards and they’ll give you a baseline for building decks in new play styles.
But not all of them are created equal, so to help guide you on where to spend those hard earned coins (or dollars), I’ve listed the top 4 starter decks to buy in ESL.
#5. Khamira’s Rebellion
Coming in at #5 is one of the two decks added for the Moons of Elsweyr expansion. This one is an aggressive monk deck that is heavily focused on Khajit and the new Wax/Wane game mechanic. It’s a fast deck with an insanely low Magicka curve, in fact that most expensive cards only cost 5 Magicka. While this deck probably won’t carry you to the top of the ranked ladder, it’s a valuable purchase for new players who are looking to load up on Khajit, and a great primer for the new Wax/Wane mechanic.
Buy Khamira’s Rebellion if:
- You’ve been curious about Khajit and just don’t have enough in your collection to start a proper Pilfer deck.
- You don’t have a solid collection of Wax/Wane cards but are looking to get those awesome Moon Gate card backs!
- You want to get your hands on Divine Fervor, Master of Thieves, and Khamira herself.
- You’re looking to get some cards that work in lane movement decks like Dune Smuggler and Shadow Shift.
Price: $4.99 or 500 gold.
#4. Paarthurnax’s Roar
Paarthurnax’s Roar is an awesome starter deck if you’re looking to break into dragon wrangling. Being an agility and strength deck, it comes with a ton debuffs and lethal creatures that will help you control midrange until your dragons come flying in. It’s a fast-paced and fun control deck that favors debuffs and removals over dropping guards. Creatures range from medium to high strength with abilities that are simple to learn, making it a great deck for beginners. Plus, you get one of the most powerful legendary creatures (and arguably the best dragon) in the game.
Buy Paarthurnax’s Roar If:
- You’re a new player to the game and are looking for a fast and fun deck that will teach you some of the basic elements of control.
- You want Paarthurnax for a custom dragon deck (or want to flip him for Soul Gems).
- You have a bunch of powerful shouts already and want to create a tri-color deck.
- You prefer to play fast and free and launch debuffs and shouts at your opponent as opposed to sitting back and letting the attacks come to you.
Price: $4.99 or 500 gold.
#3 Ancano’s Cunning
Unlike many beginner decks, this one is based on control and outsmarting your opponent rather than winning by brute force. A pure mage control deck, it contains many actions and low cost creatures and relies on recurring summon abilities with cards like Dark Sacrifice. It gives you one of the most popular and versatile legendary creatures around, Ancano, and it will teach you the fundamental discipline of control decks while giving you a great baseline for upgrades.
Buy Ancano’s Cunning If:
- You have any other Intelligence decks and would like Ancano in them.
- You enjoy playing mage control
- You are a patient player who has time for long games.
- You already have a solid collection of powerful actions or action-based cards.
Price: $4.99 or 500 gold.
#2. Pact Assault
One of the more balanced and easy-to-use pre-constructed 3-color decks is Pact Assault, which features many of the more powerful Ebonheart Pact cards and nets you a couple of the harder-to-find epics as well. Many veteran players purchase this deck for the Shadowfen Priest alone. This is a super fun deck to play because of its balance between aggro and powerful buffs/debuffs.
Buy Pact Assault if:
- You’re a new player looking for a tri-color deck with a shallow learning curve.
- You have an endurance deck that could use Shadowfen Priest.
- You’re looking to create the insanely OP Silent Pact deck. Buying this will give you a solid baseline.
- You’re looking to load up on creatures with Veteran.
- You’re an aggro player that would rather smash your opponent in the face than go for board control.
Price: $7.99 or 1000 gold.
#1. Zumog Phoom’s Ambition
One of the two new decks introduced in the Moons of Elsweyr expansion pack, Zumog Phoom’s Ambition will act as a powerful primer for the consume ability and deliver about as much pop from an intelligence/endurance deck as you could hope for. Cards with consume effects allow you to get a bonus by removing a creature in your discard pile from the game. Many cards, like Imbued Argonian, also have additional effects when they are consumed. Most importantly, though, the deck gives you Zumog Phoom himself!
Buy Zumog Phoom’s Ambition if:
- You like playing aggressive sorcerer decks and have experience with Blood Magic.
- You’re looking to load up on awesome consume cards like Nibenese Mercenary, Midnight Trespasser, and Ruin Shambler.
- You’re looking to get your hands on Zumog Phoom’s amazing summon-ability multiplier.
- You’re looking for a powerful, well-rounded deck that can easily be added to.
Price: $4.99 or 500 gold.
