[Top 15] Best Fallout New Vegas Mods For A Brand New Experience
Was up, everybody! Your friendly neighborhood shounen man here again with a list to answer those questions that burn within you. Let me ask you a question. Have you ever played the Fallout series? If you have then you probably already know that New Vegas is considered by many to be the best in the series, right? Well, I'm here today to tell you that your adventures in the Mojave can be made even better with mods. So with that in mind, which mods should you get? Here’s a list of 15 mods that I believe have to be tried by a Fallout New Vegas lover.
15. No Witnesses
(this gang of creeps)
Coming in at number 15 we have No Witnesses! Have you ever gotten into a gunfight in the middle of the desert? You kill the guys trying to rob, kill, and possibly eat you, not necessarily in that order. Then you lose faction points and wonder how did they find out I did that? Who told them about this? Well with this mod you no longer have to ask those questions. This mod does an excellent job keeping immersion up by allowing you to stop any info of your crime getting out when you kill all the witnesses. It also gives solid rules for not getting out of control. If anyone gets away for more than 30 seconds your crimes are reported.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- It was always very immersion breaking whenever you stealthily work through a whole camp only to have the faction still know you did it.
- With this mod installed stealth becomes more immersive. You feel like much more of a ninja when you use stealth to destroy people while they still think you’re on their side.
- It also adds another unexpected effect. The fact that people run away out into the wastes in order to spread words of your crime makes you feel as though your infamy is actually spreading organically. Nothing makes you feel more like an accomplished criminal than people talking about your deeds.
14. B42 Melee Bash
(Run out of bullets bash them with the butt)
Coming in at number 14 we have B42 Melee Bash! On today’s list, we are going to see a lot about immersion. Immersion is one of the most important tools an RPG has in keeping its players invested in the story. One thing you need if you are trying to keep up the immersion in a gun-related adventure is bashing, A.K.A pistol-whipping. In every old western and military epic as well as every gangster movie there has always been gun butting. This mod lets you have that experience and so much more. It uses the functions of the game itself to really wrap this mod in. Giving you perks along with unique bash animations for a lot of weapons. It also keeps everything balanced by adding ap cost to your bashing ability so you can’t just bash your way through everything.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- The fully fleshed out perk tree built-in for the bashing really lets you make use of this new ability. The perks give you increases to stuff like damage percentages and even allow you to cripple limbs with a bash.
- Another very interesting perk that this mod has to offer is the ability to sneak up behind people and knock them unconscious with a well-placed bash. It also gives you a new option for opening locks with the forced entry perk which has a set of rules keeping it well balanced.
- The immersion this mod adds to your playthrough is absolutely worth the download. From its perks that let you do things like bash your gun on the ground to attract enemies to its costs for bashing the mod adds a fun element to your game that you should definitely check out.
13. Of Truth And Lies
(Pretty pretty ax)
Coming in at number 13 we have of truth and lies! This unlike our first two entries is a quest mod that allows you to fully immerse yourselves in one of the best parts about being in an old western-style game. That’s right this mod’s main focus is you becoming a bonafide gunslinger. It gives you nine fully voiced quests where you will hunt down an infamous group of gunslingers to become a legendary iron wielder yourself. The quest itself starts with a radio signal announcing a way to become a gunslinger which leads you on a very fun adventure.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
This mod introduces 30 new weapons into the game allowing you a whole new arsenal to blast through the Mojave with.
Along with the weapons it adds to the experience it also gives you 19 new pieces of armor. With this addition, you gain quite a few new style options to show off to your targets before you gun them down.
Along with all the added items, the quest itself really lends to this mod’s credit. The full voice-acted quest-line was clearly crafted with a lot of love and shows it the entire time. This mod is a must-have for any New Vegas modder.

12. Headhunting
(ashes to ashes)
Coming in at number 12 we have Headhunting! This is another quest mod that has a fairly simple but fun concept. Just like its name suggests this mod is all about headhunting. It adds a new business called Tully’s headhunting under the bridge beside the Grub n’ Gulp. When you go down into this place you are greeted by Joe Tully, the man who runs the office, and he asks you if you’re looking for work. Once you get through your little interview with the man you can begin the quests and start hunting targets. This mod takes you into all kinds of situations where you have to figure out how to kill your target and escape.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- All 30 of the quests in this mod are fully voice acted adding a feeling of realness to the missions with help from our word of the day, Immersion!
- This quest is very well made and not only has an action-packed quest-line but it also has a sense of progression. It gains this by separating all the jobs into three tiers that you have to work up to.
- This mod also comes with quite a few very well written characters. From the far too young for this type of a job Casey to the quirky quip happy assassin and the hilarious cast of targets. This mod will keep you happy and having fun the whole playthrough.
11. Weapons Of The New Millenia
(Love that new gun smell)
Coming in at number 11 we have Weapons Of The New MIllenia! One of the coolest things about the fallout series is the way it incorporates many different guns into its gameplay. The Vats system alone is a remarkable thing to play with but when you add in all the different types of guns and their effects you get a truly unforgettable experience. The vanilla New Vegas has quite a lot of guns and this mod adds to it with 45 new ones.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- First of all this mod adds a whole lot of boom to your options of destruction. Whether you’re looking for real-world equivalents or unique guns only available in this mod, this is the mod for you.
- It also adds a ridiculous amount of modifications to mod your guns with. Scopes, triggers, and all manner of other things await to be fitted to all of your new weaponry.
- The developers of this mod even thought of adding convenience into it by giving you options. You can integrate the weapons into your game seamlessly or you can use the cheat cabinets. There’s also a vendor and a small quest to go with it.

10. More Perks
(Now you're that deathclaw daddy)
Coming in at number 10 we have More Perks! This mod adds new elements to your New Vegas playthrough by upping the number of available perks on offer. Giving you a huge list to go through you now have options like a perk that increases your speech during the day or a perk that allows you to increase your speed. There’s even a new perk that gives you a chance to find treasure along your path. The perks are interesting with some being straightforward and others being hilarious this mod is a really great addition to any playthrough.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- This mod’s huge list of added perks gives you lots of new ways to enjoy New Vegas. You can have perks that switch your stats between day and night or ones that completely change the way some mechanics work for your character.
- It also adds new traits into the game that you can apply to your character. You can even get one that bans you from major establishments but gives you two Raider companions.
- There is a perk in this list that allows you to not only avoid being attacked by feral ghouls but actually make them come to your aid in combat. The many different ways you can play with these perks is really what shines in this mod.
9. Brave New World
(New vegas looper)
Coming in at number 9 we have Brave New World! This mod was a very heavy undertaking. The modders put in almost four years of work into Brave New World. The project’s aim was to revoice and redesign many of fallout New Vegas’s characters. To this end, they held over 30,000 auditions and eventually revoiced and redesigned around 145 characters. There was a lot of ambition to this mod and it really paid off.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- While New Vegas is an amazing title that is quite fun to play it does have some issues. Due to the time constraints on the development of the game, a lot of the characters were voiced by the same actors. This mod fixes that.
- Brave New World really makes New Vegas come alive and feel like a real place with real people. The variety of voices and looks really make meeting new people exciting.
- For most people options are king and this mod offers you exactly that. If you don’t like any of the revoiced characters they offer a way to switch the voice and lines back to their original state.

8. Titan Fallout
(My big buddy)
Coming in at number 8 we have Titan Fallout! Now, this mod is a bit different from the previous ones on our list. It’s not about adding depth to the game’s world or storytelling. It’s not about changing the way the game’s mechanics work around you. No, this mod is here for pure fun. Getting in a titan is an adrenaline-fueled ride and this mod Titan Fallout aims to bring that same ride to Fallout New Vegas. With these modders hard work, we are now able to see exactly what it would be like to have our own Liberty Prime.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- I think it goes without saying but of course, I’m going to anyway. Stomping around the Mojave in a giant mech is a dream playthrough. Taking on the Alpha and Mother Deathclaw in the Titan is pretty awesome.
- There isn’t just one type of Titan for you to have fun in though, oh no-no-no. There are two Titan types. You have the assault class that is lighter but quicker and the tank class that has more firepower but can’t sprint.
- The titans even have a patrol mode where they will go around your vicinity killing any and all hostiles. If you ever get bored of just watching your Titan do all the work you can jump in and run the guns and legs all on your own.
7. Simply Uncut
(The eye patch is a powerful fashion statement)
Coming in at number 7 we have Simply Uncut! This mod is very unique in what it offers you. Instead of the normal type of additions you get from other mods, Simply Uncut, just like its name suggests gives you all the stuff that was cut out of the original title. Whether it’s Npc’s or creature or even locations this mod adds them all back in. Simply Uncut is a well-executed peek into the in-between where all the forgotten content goes.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- Simply Uncut adds quite a bit of content to your Mojave playthrough. One of the best additions front his mod is the NPCs and all of the new dialogue you get to find.
- They’ve also added areas that were previously removed. There are quests that were left by the wayside that have also found their way back in.
- Finally, this mod adds a bunch of items back into the game. From new weapons and armors for certain factions to just regular items. There is even a perk that has been re-added.
6. FPGE
(Agreement gone wrong)
Coming in at number 6 we have FPGE! FPGE stands for “functional post-game ending”. Have you ever played New Vegas all the way through and wished you could continue on with your character. Wanted to go on just doing whatever you wished with your Courier continuing their story in your own way. Well, this mod is definitely for you my friend. It pushes past the boundaries of the end of the game allowing your character to keep living in the Mojave.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- FPGE adds a whole new level of fun to your playthrough. Whether you wanted to go through combing the wastelands looking for every secret that you can find. Or if you just want to continue your caravan trading business.
- Not only does it add in the ability to continue your game even after the credits roll but it also makes a dynamic endgame that reacts to the choices you made throughout the story.
- Getting to walk through the Mojave and seeing a different ruling class according to whomever you sided with is very interesting to say the least.
5. A Tale Of Two Wastelands
(A road trip for friends)
Coming in at number 5 we have A Tale Of Two Wastelands! A Tale Of Two Wastelands is very different from anything else on our list but I think it adds something amazing to a Fallout New Vegas playthrough. With this mod, you can play the entirety of Fallout 3 and its DLC then lead into New Vegas in a Seamless experience. This was a very interesting mod indeed and is a must-have for anyone who wishes for that full Fallout experience.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- First and foremost just being able to enjoy the ability of seamless transitioning between beating Fallout 3 and moving into Fallout New Vegas is quite the treat.
- This mod adds all kinds of depth that weren’t there before. It gives you the ability to travel between DC and the Mojave whenever you want. It also adds in homes for all of your companions on both maps so you can take them with you.
- A Tale Of Two Wastelands updates Fallout 3 to New Vegas mechanics without losing the charm of the original. It also adds perks for the fallout 3 companions as well as a few other things.

4. The Living Desert
(New folks for all your social needs)
Coming in at number 4 we have The Living Desert! Have you ever felt as though the Mojave was way too empty? Like even though humanity is making a comeback and people have been here for quite a while there still seems to be no one around. The Living Desert offers many new unique interactions throughout the Mojave to fix this feeling of emptiness.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- The Living Desert takes the sometimes barren and empty wastelands turning them into a bustling desert of civilization. It makes the Mojave seem more real
- It adds new patrols of all the different factions to route within their territory. It also puts new caravaners on the road traveling from place to place.
- The Living Desert comes with new interactions between the NPC’s as well. Gangs will fight in places where their territory cross-over. Even adding in reactive content that molds to your specific playthrough.

3. A World Of Pain
(Every time I leave I come back to a mess)
Coming in at number 3 we have A World Of Pain! Have you ever felt like Fallout New Vegas was far too easy? Like you’re on your 12th playthrough and just have the whole game figured out so it no longer challenges you? Well, my little Mojave expert, this mod could be just what you were looking for to bring a little spice back to your New Vegas life.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- First, this mod adds a ton of new locations. From factories that are falling apart to giant labyrinthian sewers that you may never escape from. This mod has over 170 new spots for you to check out.
- It also adds an intense new level of challenge with some of its locations and enemies. You’ll also get new dialogue through new NPC’s that A World Of Pain adds.
- Just to make sure you can keep up with the spike of difficulty that this mod is going to try to stab you with it added new items. There are new weapons and armor for you to test out.
2. Beyond Boulder Dome
(What kind of reception you get on that thing)
Coming in at number 2 we have Beyond Boulder Dome! One of the best mods around in my humble opinion. Beyond Boulder Dome is a huge mod. It is basically a big DLC that adds in a whole wealth of new content that I could write an entire page on but since we are limited on time, I will just throw you a few of this wonderful mod’s highlights.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- Taking you to Boulder, Colorado you get to see the Boulder Dome which is a Dome that is filled with a disease that many people are trying to stop in their own way.
- You get a huge main quest that has branching pathways all with multiple playthrough options. There are also side quests and fully voice-acted characters and scenes.
- It also adds new enemies for you to have fun with. There are all new animals and monsters with their own sounds as well as robots and other baddies to squash.

1. Fallout: New California
(Opening the stargate)
Coming in at number 1 we have Fallout: New California! This is the number one mod for Fallout New Vegas in my opinion. It’s a very ambitious project that much like our last entry aimed to make a whole new area to play in. What makes this project even better is that it’s beyond a DLC and is instead a whole new game with its own story, characters, perks, and everything for you to go through.
How this mod makes New Vegas more fun:
- For this mod, you get to start a whole new character. Instead of being the fabled courier you now control the Orphan.
- You will get to take part in many new faction quests. There is a war going between all of the factions that you will be apart of at some point.
- There are hours and hours of new gameplay that will not disappoint in this wonderful addition to Fallout New Vegas. You get professional-grade voice acting and story design. This is by far the best mod you can get and has a very high replay value.
