[Top 10] FF14 Best Quests and How to Get Them

FF14 Best Quests
Agent of Inquiry, Hildibrand Manderville

Side quests can be a great telling of an RPG’s popularity, and Final Fantasy 14 is no exception with plenty of lore-rich, wacky, or heartfelt side quests to keep you busy in between patches. Many of these popular side quests also gift unique minions, mounts, or emotes while with others the plot is a reward in and of itself.  This list includes ten of the best single quests and quest lines that no player should skip if you want the full Final Fantasy 14 experience.

10) The Greatest Story Never Told

Quest Walkthrough

Okay, hear me out. While this is a quest notorious for being obnoxiously frustrating and rewards you only a meager 10 gil in the end, it’s still a fan-favorite. Unlocked after completing the main story quests in A Realm Reborn, The Greatest Story Never Told challenges you to solve riddles that send you all across Eorzea in search of treasures (spoiler alert, don’t get too excited). The thing that makes this quest so much fun are the puzzles because you’ll get to test your Final Fantasy knowledge and sums up much of the silly humor of the game.

Quest rewards:

  • 10 gil

How to get it:

  • Speak to Valiant Hart in Western Thanalan

9) Unicorn Power

Quest Walkthrough

This is a pretty cool and fairly short quest that will reward you with a unicorn mount early on in the game. The only downside is that it is restricted to the Conjuring class, so you have to have leveled up Conjurer to 30 and completed its class quest before it will appear. If you’ve already leveled up Conjurer or are currently working on it, then enjoy your free mount!

Quest rewards:

  • Unicorn Whistle

How to get it:

  • Speak to Braya at the Conjurer’s Guild in Old Gridania after completing your level 30 Conjurer class quest. If you are already a White Mage, you will have to unequip your soulstone before the quest marker will appear.

8) Toss Fit Workout

Quest Walkthrough

This is another easy quest that basically rewards you with the free emote /throwsnowball so you and your friends can have fun in a heated snowball fight, and unlike the previous quest, it isn’t restricted to class.

Quest rewards:

  • /throwsnowball emote

How to get it:

  • Speak to Maucolyn in Coerthas Central Highlands

7) The Paths We Walk

Quest Walkthrough

The Paths We Walk is another questline that doesn’t particularly give any unique reward other than a couple thousand of gil, but it’s popularity comes from the storytelling. The Paths We Walk is the first quest of a questline that takes your Warrior of Light on a nostalgic trip through Eorzea and Coerthas, and Dravania as you recap the events that unfolded in Heavensward.

Quest Rewards:

  • 2681 gil (about the same amount for each subsequent quest)

How to get it:

  • Speak to House Fortemps Manservant at the Fortemps Manor

6) Zombies are People Too

Quest Walkthrough

This silly but fun side quest involving a lonely zombie named Hab and his missing cactuar friends. Reunite Hab and his friends and you’ll be rewarded with a cactuar minion!

Quest Rewards:

  • Cactuar cutting

How to get it:

  • Speak to Hab in Southern Thanalan

5) Learning to Lali Ho

Quest Walkthrough

This Shadowbringers’ side quest unlocks the fun Lali Ho wave, a greeting used by the Dwarf Beast Tribe. This is a fairly easy set of quests to complete and it’s hard not to miss since it stems from a previous side quest needed to unlock an aether current for the area.

Quest Rewards:

  • Lali Ho Emote

How to get it:

  • Speak to Ronitt in Kholusia after completing the prerequisite quests beginning with A Disagreeable Dwarf

4) Scholasticate Questline

Quest Walkthrough

This questline is a long one, but with an interesting plot, intriguing characters, and several unique rewards, it’s well worth the time. The quests follow Scholasticate students in Ishgard as they are reeling from the events that took place in Heavensward and trying to rebuild the Scholasticate’s reputation.

Quest Rewards:

  • Inspector’s Eyeglasses
  • Spectacles emote
  • Scholasticate coat

3) Protectors of the Wood

Quest Walkthrough

Added in Shadowbringers, this quest unlocks perhaps one of the best mionions in the entire game, The Great Serpent of Ronka, a chubby worm – I mean, snake-like creature. Like the Lali Ho quests, this quests has a couple of easy prerequisite quests that also reward aether currents.

Quest Rewards:

  • The Great Serpent of Ronka

How to get it:

  • Speak to Phyna in the Rak'tika Greatwood after having completed all of Lanille and Phyna’s quest beginning with Stand on Ceremony as well as all of Valan’s quests beginning with The Great Deceiver.

2) Delivery Moogle Quests

Quest Walkthrough

Another long but fun questline with wide cast of characters, the Delivery Moogle quests take you all over Eorzea delivering mail in the way of a postmoogle. Along the way, you’ll get to see some interesting backstories and plots to side characters as well as earn a wide range of rewards including a mini mole minion, a star-spangled subligar, and a postmoogle hat.

Quest Rewards:

  • Various food items
  • Gil
  • A carnation
  • A mini mole minion
  • A star-spangled subligar
  • A postmoogle hat

How to get it:

  • Speak to Klynthota in Mor Dhona

1) Hildibrand Questline

Quest Walkthrough

This wouldn’t be a best FF14 quests list if the Hildibrand quests weren’t mentioned. Some of the most bizarre and hilarious quests in the game fall under this questline, rivaling that of the main story quests and making them extremely popular among FF14 players. In these quests, you’ll find your Warrior of Light roped in to helping Hildibrand Manderville, an eccentric detective, and his assistant, Nashu, solve countless mysteries across Eorzea and encounter a ridiculous cast of characters. Alongside of an absolutely humorous plot, the Hildibrand quests will reward you with a few silly emotes like the Manderville dance.

Quest Rewards:

  • Manderville Dance emote
  • Mini game Parley
  • Wind up Gentleman minion
  • Most Gentlemanly emote
  • Manderville Coatee and Bottoms
  • Gigi minion
  • Manderville Mambo

How to get it:

  • Begin with the quest The Rise and Fall of Gentleman by speaking to  Wymond in Ul'dah, Steps of Nald
