FF14 How to Join a Free Company (Step by Step Guide)

FF14 How to Join Free Company

If you’re new to Final Fantasy 14, you’ve probably wondered what Free Companies are and why you should join one. FC’s essentially function as guilds where you can chat with other players, share certain resources, own a house together, and several other benefits. Take note that you can only join an FC that is on your server and you can only join one FC at a time, but otherwise there aren’t any other restrictions. For most play styles, joining an FC will be highly beneficial, and if you’re interested in joining an FC, here’s how to get started.

Finding a Free Company

Video Guide

Obviously, the first step will be finding an FC that suits your needs. While there is no in game search option for FC’s, you can check out the FC search portal on Lodestone. There, you’ll be able to search FC’s according to server, play styles, size, Grand Company, and other important options. Some FC’s may be more casual, offering basic support through trials and dungeons or just company in general. Others may be focused on more hardcore activities like endgame extreme trials, so be sure to pick an FC that seems most comfortable to you. Once you’ve found an FC, you have one of two methods to submitting an application.

Submitting an Application through an FC Member

Video Guide

Your first option is to look at the FC member list and then use the player search in-game to locate an online member of the FC. Once you’ve found an online member, click on the player’s name and then View Company Profile. This will take you to a screen that displays the FC’s information and a Submit Application button.

Submitting an Application through the FC House

Your second option is to join through the FC’s House. A FC’s profile will display their house location, (whether The Mist, The Goblet, Lavender Beds, or Shirogane) with their ward and house number. Assuming you have the residential area unlocked, you’ll be able to teleport to the correct one and locate the FC House. Outside the house, there will be an FC placard, and if the FC is accepting application then there will be an option to submit yours.

Being Invited to an Free Company

Video Guide

Of course, being invited to an FC is also an option and a straightforward one at that. If a current FC member sends you an invite, you can view the FC’s information from the invite and then all you have to do is accept before the timer runs out. FC’s will often send out invites or do recruiting in the major city areas, so if you run across one you like, don’t be afraid to join!

Starting Your Own Free Company

Video Guide

If you haven’t found an FC to your likings then you may be able to start your own. To do so, you’ll have to be at least level 25 and have joined a Grand Company through the main story quest. If you meet these requirements, go to your Grand Company and ask for a petition from the administrator. You’ll choose a name and tagline for your FC and then be tasked with getting three signatures from players who will join the FC. Once completed, turn in the petition and pay the 15,000 gil fee and you have your own FC!

Benefits

Video Guide

Now, that you’re in a FC, it’s time to look at some of the benefits you’ll be able to take advantage of. Every FC has a company chest, allowing players to store items that are up for grabs for lower level players or save up gil for the FC to upgrade housing. Depending on your FC’s level as well, you’ll be able to benefit from passive boosts in EXP or certain skills, in both crafting and battle, when activated by higher level FC members. You also can now have a room in the FC house and are free to decorate it to your liking.

Rank and Activities

Video Guide

Lastly, let’s talk about FC Rank and the additional activities you’ve unlocked from joining an FC. As a joint effort, your FC will be able to send out submarines or airships in search of rare materials great for crafting. You’ll also be able to contribute towards these voyages by crafting Aetherial Wheels, Company Airships parts, or just housing items in general. Be an active member of your FC, and you’ll grow in ranks and be given even more benefits and responsibilities for your FC!
