Which are the 10 best formations in Fifa 19?

To choose the right formation is almost like finding the right recipe from the ingredients you have: you need balance. Misplace or use the wrong player is like doing a mistake with ingredients or proportions: you cannot salt your chocolate muffin. You have to be accurate and think about your style of playing.

Here’s my list of the 10 best club formations in Fifa 19, and the most problematic to play against. I’ll add a helpful amount of information about each team’s squad that may help your choice before the next friendly match, and lead you to victory.

10. Chelsea

Chelsea formation in Fifa 19 with Hazard-Higuain can be a real killing machine

Even with Maurizio Sarri on the bench, the last one was not the best season for Chelsea. But surely the quality of the squad that you find in Fifa 19 is extremely dangerous for every opponent.

Balanced team, with dangerous players in each part of the field: good and big defenders, and quick and technical offensive players, with the help of Higuain (or Giroud) acting as big and strong advanced striker in the middle of the attack.

What makes Chelsea great:

Eden Hazard remains one of the most dangerous players in Fifa 19: when founded free on the flank can attack from the wide left. With an incredible dribbling skill (95 dribbling, 94 ball control), able with both feet, Hazard is extremely efficient when it comes to strike or assist, due also to his 91 in composure. Add 95 in agility, 94 in balance and 94 in acceleration and you’ll have a real complete attacking wind, among the best of the game. He’ll be the icing on your cake.
Added to Hazard in front you’ll find Higuain (one of the most cynical deadly strikers in Fifa 19: 90 in attack position and finishing) and Pedro, forming an outstanding and devastating attack, if used well
Kanté in the middle of the pitch is an adamantium column: an irremovable player, a no-stopping engine that gives all the energy needed to the entire team, playing as a glue among defence and attack.

9. Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham in 2018-19 season was one of the toughest formations to beat

Finalist in Champions League after the legendary quarter-final against Manchester City, and a not less incredible semi-final against Ajax, in which Lucas Moura transformed himself in the saviour of Spurs.

Tottenham was the Champions League outsider of the last year: surely a highly classed team, but not among the favourites at the start, obtained step by step more confidence, finding incredible performances of his top players at the right time. Despite the injury of Herry Kane, they arrived at the final, founding in Moura and Llorente two alternative weapons.

Tough in defence: Alderweireld and Vertonghen are really good stoppers, while Lloris is among the best goalkeepers in the game
Strong midfield, with Eriksen and Dele Alli constantly dangerous: the first able also to strike from wide distance, and free-kick ; the second really good in penetration and positioning, headers and finishing
Kane is one of the best strikers in the game, incredibly cynical, mentally impeccable. With a finishing skill of 94, he’ll have no mercy if you give him half-opportunity. Paired with Kane, there’s Son: 5/5 on the weak foot, 4/5 on the ability moves, extremely dangerous from distance (90 long shots), chilled when he has to finish, quick and able to dribbling. 8. Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid has a formation of real fighters: they'll never give up

Atletico Madrid is the kind of team that doesn’t play for mere entertainment. The final result is the only goal, and nothing else. Atletico Madrid (along with his coach, Simeone) is well known and feared for his cynical approach, his ability to put the game into a physical fight (in which they are predominant) and in using “catenaccio” – or rather playing a highly defensive game.

But the heart of these players is unquestionable, as the ability of Simeone to turn them into lions, able to compete for first positions in La Liga with the two extraterrestrial squads of Real Madrid and Barcelona.

For the incredible harshness of his defenders. Godin and Gimenez are super aggressive (89 each) and skilled in marking (90 – 89), while Arias and Filipe Luiz are good tacklers. Find a hole will be not easy
Even if you find a hole, you have to beat the best goalkeeper in Fifa 19
The counter-attack: Diego Costa and Morata are effective strikers able to get the team up, and Griezmann combined with the talented midfielders Atletico has (Saul especially) creates a frightening weapon.

7. Liverpool

Liverpool starting team was almost untouchable the last year

Champion of Europe in 2019, Liverpool during the year showed an incredible solidity, playing as a real team through all the season, dominating the ultimate English Premier League like no one else before. Atletico Madrid was the only one able to stop them… and Covid-19. Is probably the best team in Fifa 19 when it comes to counter-attack using the depth.

What makes Liverpool great:

Probably the best attacking players with PSG and Juventus: in Fifa as in the reality, Firmino Salah and Mané fit together perfectly, forming a constant threat from all the perspectives: the 3 are able in counter-attacking, able in dribbling, skilled in passing, with really good stamina and high mental skills
Watch out also the defence: Allison is among the best goalkeeper in the game, while Van Djik, perhaps the best defender, dominates as a mountain in the backsides and is a real threat offensively in corners.
Well assorted midfield, that maybe deserves more skill points, but still is good in Fifa 19. Fabinho is an effective defensive midfielder, very good in tackles, mentally strong

6. Manchester City

Citizens have one of the most offensive playings in the game

The Citizens won the 2018-19 Premier League after an incredible face-to-face with Liverpool, concluding with 98 points, against the 97 collected by the Reds. These two teams were, in my opinion, the best ones in European football during the last season, having shown incredibly high levels of playing and a predominance in all the competitions (Citizens failed in the crazy semifinal with Tottenham, but maybe deserved more to reach the final). Manchester City has the most powerful midfield of Fifa 19.

Incredibly efficient midfield: De Bruyne is probably the best midfielder in the game, a real complete offensive player, tricky, able to score, create assist, while David Silva is fast a thunder with decisions and mentally impeccable, and Fernandinho is one of the greatest in absorbing the dangers coming from the centre
Able and skilled attack: Sterling is faster than light, Aguero cynical as a killer, Bernardo Silva tricky like a magician
Absurd quantity of able players from the bench. Leeroy Sané is one of my favourites (he has a 92 OVR, if you’re playing career mode!), but also Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus are really talented, creating some problems while deciding the starting Team

5. Bayern München

Bayern is always a certainty: there's no player that isn't good

The Maisters of Bundesliga, Bayern München is a tough team to affront for anyone. With a talented formation, full of youngsters, but filled with stunning “elders” in all the positions, who can lead with experience and class this awesome team to smash every opponent. They play aggressive but elegant football, attacking a lot with the wings, and using Müller as jolly between attack and midfield.

Difficult to score against such a powerful defence: Hummels is thick as a wall, able in contrasts and headers; Kimmich and Alaba are good in the flank, mixing quantity and quality; Neuer even in Fifa 19 is the one we all know, a sealed gate
Lewandowski leading the attack is a beast: strong, tall, mentally impeccable. Extremely skilled and cynical, he’ll take advantage of every thumb defenders offer him. And the danger comes also from the extremely fast wings
Müller and Thiago form an amazing attacking couple from the midfield: the first a monster in mental skills, the second highly technical. And you have plenty of really good alternatives from the bench: James Rodriguez, Ribery, Goretzka…

4. Paris Saint Germain

PSG has probably the most terrific attack in Fifa 19

Neymar – Mbappé – Cavani – Di Maria are names you should always consider if you’re playing with or against PSG. These four form right now the most dangerous attack with maybe the Liverpool’s, in my opinion.

In Fifa 19 obviously, they are deadly, but sometimes they concede too much for counter-attacks. Anyway is almost impossible for them to finish a game without scoring. If you like extreme attacking formations, this is the one for you.

PSG has the most offensive playing due to his starting block: 4 monstrous players all projected forwards. It’s also risky, because it may be sometimes unbalanced, but surely that power in front permits the rest of the team to play with more courage.
Thiago Silva is a beast protecting the net. And if you feel insecure, you can also opt for Buffon between the posts: could be old, but in Fifa 19 you won’t even notice.
Stunning abilities from the central midfielders can break the pressing at any time. Verratti is a top player in playmaking, and even if small, has great balance and strength. Marquinhos is an excellent and complete midfielder,

3. Real Madrid

The formation of Real seems offensive but has crucial players in the midfield balancing it

For me the most problematic team to play against, Real Madrid has a full package of players in the formation that can molest you in each part of the pitch. Super aggressive defenders, highly skilled midfielders, cynical strikers: better not grant Real Madrid too much initiative.

They’re the galacticos for something. Real Madrid has probably the most complete midfield in Fifa 19, if you look to the single players. The passing skills owned by Modric and Kross, mixed with the tackles of Casemiro can really cancel any other midfield you put them in front
Fifa 19 puts Vinicius on the starting team, that has a low overall initially (78) but a promising overall (90). If you are using them for one match you always can change him with Bale, or Isco: talking about newbies…
Varane and Sergio Ramos form one of the most powerful central defence in all the game: with a potential of 91 the 1st one, with an overall of 90 the 2nd, they are extremely aggressive and fierce as hyenas. More than that, they’re deadly dangerous when attacking with corner kicks

2. Juventus

Incredibly strong defence, and the most skilled attacking pack: Juventus is a steamroller

Dominating Serie A since 8 years, Juventus in 2019 with the purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo is more than before considered among the most dangerous European teams. In absolute is probably the best defence in all Europe: Chiellini and Bonucci have played for ten years together, they know each other as their own pockets. Now with the presence of Ronaldo also the attacking skills of the team raised quite a bit in the game, becoming the highest overall for a team in Fifa 19.

Problems arrive also from the bench: Cuadrado, Bernardeschi and Douglas Costa are incredible jolly players, able to play all along the flank

1. Barcelona

If you love champagne football there's no formation better than Barcelona's

Put two of the best offensive players ever in the same unit and you’ll have necessarily a smashing attack. Luckily for their opponents, Neymar is not still here. With him in the team, Barcelona’s was probably the strongest attack I’ve ever seen in my life.

In Fifa 19 there’s no Griezmann yet but, anyway, Coutinho is quite an incredible player to put in help of the other two aliens (if they need any).

What makes Barcelona great:

As told, Messi and Suarez are extremely good. They can drive all your defenders mad only playing crazily good with the ball just between the two of them. And is almost impossible to steal them the ball. And as you can imagine, when it comes the time to score, they are the deadliest.
If you place Umtiti with Pique as a central defender, you have one incredibly powerful pair of central defenders: strong, skilled, and enormous. Not many players will be able to create severe problems. And Ter Stegen is one of the best goalkeepers in the game, 2nd only to Oblak and maybe De Gea
Busquets works as a dam in front of the defence. And if you are in war mood, you can put on his side Arturo Vidal, creating maybe the most solid pair of midfielders possible.
