Based on the viral video game of the same name, Freddy Fazbear’s comes to life on the big screen. Mike is down on his luck and recently fired so he applies and gets a job as a night shift security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. Not everything is as it seems to be as he realizes the late shift won't be so easy to endure.
2. Release Date
The signage brings the video game to life.
With a release date of October 27, 2023 this film arrives just in time for Halloween. Fans have waited for years to have their favorite game turned into film and it is finally happening next month. This horror film is going to be such a welcome addition to the spooky season this year.
3. The Cast
The all star cast is going to make this movie an event to remember.
Five Nights at Freddy’s has an amazing cast. It is sure to be a horror film for the ages with Josh Hutcherson (Hunger Games) and Matthew Lillard (Thirteen Ghosts, Scooby Doo) front and center. Josh takes on the role of Mike the security guard while Matthew plays William Afton, the man who started Freddy Fazbear’s. Other members of the cast feature Elizabeth Lail playing Vanessa, Piper Rubio playing Abby, Kevin Foster playing Freddy Fazbear, Kat Conner Sterling as Max and Mary Stuart Masterson playing Aunt Jan.
4. Filming Location
The location of the film really brings nostalgia front and center.
The location for filming is New Orleans, Louisiana and surrounding areas. The crew started production under the name Bad Cupcakes to protect its secrecy. New Orleans could not have been a better choice for the location as its eerie legends and folklore are nightmare fuel for the masses.
5. Jim Henson's Creature Shop was utilized for the animatronics.
The characters are taking shape in the Creature Shop.
Jim Henson’s Creature Shop has been enlisted to work on the animatronics for this film. This is a big deal considering Jim Henson’s Creature Shop has been featured in many famous movies such as The Muppets, Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal. This is one of the best features about Five Nights at Freddy’s.
6. Springtrap will make an appearance
The most terrifying character will make his appearance.
Springtrap is the main villain in the game franchise. The recently released trailer revealed he will be part of the film. While we don't see a full silhouette we do see his glowing eyes and mechanical arms. He is the most terrifying character of them all. The other animatronics only contain souls but springtrap is inhabited by William Afton himself.
7. There will be sequels
We have more to look forward to than just one film.
In a recent interview Matthew Lillard confirmed he has signed a 3 movie deal. Fans should get excited as this could potentially turn into a film franchise itself instead of a one time event. Lillard will play William Afton in all of the films.
8. Markiplier could be making a cameo
Fans are hoping to see Markiplier in this horror film.
Markiplier is popular on Youtube for streaming his gameplay of Five Nights At Freddy’s. Although he has kept tight-lipped about if he will make a cameo, in a recent interview he essentially confirmed suspicions. Fans are looking forward to this surprise and he will definitely be a welcome addition to this horror film.
9. Peacock Release
You don't even need to leave your home to visit Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria.
This film will be available on the streaming service Peacock on the same day as theaters. With a price tag of only $6-$12 a month for a subscription, this is a wonderful option for those that want to watch at home. There is no debate this film is highly anticipated and is widely available to all audiences with this streaming option.
10. The missing children’s incident
The missing children are one of the key components to this thrilling tale.
In the trailer we get a glimpse at who we can safely assume are the children from the missing children’s incident. This incident is the reason for the restaurant's closure in the 80’s. Each child looks to have clothing or accessories that relate to each animatronic. This is just one of the easter eggs hidden within the trailer.
