[Top 5] Genshin Impact Best AoE Characters

Genshin Impact Best AoE Characters
The best way to fight is surely to face them all at once, no?

In games like Genshin Impact where the opponents often move in groups more often than not, having characters that can inflict Area of Effect (AoE) DMG is more than just helpful. Not only it’ll help speed up the fight, it also helps you inflict a lot of DMG at once.

Additionally, because this game prioritizes Elemental DMG, having AoE Elemental DMG means you have the chance to combine it with another for Elemental Reaction that leads to even more DMG. Who doesn’t want to finish all of them at once?

Genshin Impact actually has quite a lot of characters that can do this, some through their Elemental Skill, some through Elemental Burst, and so on. AoE isn’t always about DMG, though, sometimes it’s about Crowd Control so you can gather them in one place and then strike all at once.

Here goes the 5 Best AoE Characters in Genshin Impact.

5. Yanfei

The newest Catalyst in the game, Yanfei, starts off the list at number 5.

As a Pyro Catalyst, it is pretty obvious Yanfei can deal a lot of AoE Pyro DMG, even more when the opponents are on grass because it can inflict Burn for quite some time. Yanfei can deal AoE DMG through her Charged Attack, Plunging Attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Reaction.

Her strongest point is her Charged Attack, which is fueled by Stamina Consumption and her Scarlet Seal, which she gets from hitting enemies through Normal Attack. The AoE and DMG will increase according to the amount of Scarlet Seals consumed. Hitting an enemy with Elemental Skill will grant her the maximum number of Scarlet Seals.

Furthermore, her Ascension 4 gives an additional AoE Pyro DMG equal to 80% of her ATK when Yanfei deals a CRIT Hit to opponents through her Charged Attack.

Why Yanfei Is Great:

  • Almost all of her Attacks deal AoE Pyro DMG
  • Her Passive Talent increases DMG Done by her Charged Attack
  • When there’s Dendro to inflict Burn, her AoE Pyro DMG can last longer to react with other Elements

4. Sucrose

Much like Yanfei, almost all of Sucrose’s attacks can deal AoE DMG. Unlike the first, though, Sucrose uses her AoE more for Crowd Control than DMG.

As an Anemo Catalyst, both her Elemental Skill and Burst are able to pull enemies in and then launch them in an AoE Anemo DMG. They only differ in size, in which her Elemental Burst obviously deals a wider AoE DMG.

Additionally, her Elemental Burst also has the ability to absorb the first element it comes in contact with. During so, it will deal additional DMG of that element whilst trapping the enemies in place.

This is a great skill, because it pulls in nearby enemies and gathers them in one place, making it easier to attack after that. We know some enemies like to scatter, and attacking them one by one can take a lot of time, with this ability, it’ll be easier to deal DMG at once (also with AoE, preferably) without having to run around to attack them.

Why Sucrose Is Great:

  • Her Elemental Burst works well with almost every element; dealing extra damage on top of the original DMG
  • Her Crowd Control ability pulls enemies in one place
  • Not only it pulls them in, she also deals AoE Anemo DMG

3. Mona

Next is Mona, the Hydro Catalyst and it’s quite obvious she’d be on this list.

Mona can inflict AoE Hydro DMG through her Charged Attack, Plunging Attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst.

Her Elemental Skill also works as a Crowd Control ability, in which she creates an Illusory Phantom from water that continuously taunts enemies whilst dealing Hydro DMG. Once its duration is up, it’ll explode and deal AoE Hydro DMG.

Through her Elemental Burst, Mona deals a large Hydro AoE DMG which traps opponents inside a pocket of destiny that also applies the Wet status that can stun weaker opponents. When opponents under the Illusory Bubble sustains DMG they will get an Omen that deals a bonus DMG, and then the Illusory Bubble status would be removed as it deals Hydro DMG during so.

Why Mona Is Great:

  • Almost always deals AoE Hydro DMG
  • Elemental Skill can also work as Crowd Control
  • Elemental Skill encourage Elemental Reaction
  • Elemental Burst works in a particularly large AoE
  • Elemental Burst can also stun weaker opponents

2. Ganyu

Coming next is Ganyu, the ever so famous Cryo Archer.

Unlike other Archers whose Charged Attack simply deals Elemental DMG, Ganyu has a Charge Level 2 that allows her to fire Frostflake Arrow that will deal AoE Cryo DMG after hitting its target. Amazing, I know.

Like Mona, her Elemental Skill can also work as a Crowd Control because it taunts enemies and attracts them to attack. The endurance of this Ice Lotus is based on Ganyu’s Max HP and will deal AoE Cryo DMG once destroyed or once duration is up.

Her biggest strength, though, lies in her Elemental Burst. Ganyu summons a Sacred Cryo Pearl, in which it will rain down shards of ice, striking opponents under it with Cryo DMG. This also works in a pretty wide AoE, allowing you to trigger Elemental Reaction with other Elements whilst it’s raining ice.

Why Ganyu Is Great:

  • Charged Attack can deal Cryo DMG and/or AoE Cryo DMG
  • Elemental Skill also works as a Crowd Control
  • Elemental Burst deals a pretty wide AoE Cryo DMG
  • Elemental Burst encourages Elemental Reaction
  • Ascension 4 grants 20% Cryo DMG Bonus to active party members in the AoE during her Elemental Burst

1. Venti

Coming number 1 is, once again, Venti. Seriously, I don’t even have him but he rarely steps down from the top once you’re in his field. His AoE only comes from his Elemental Skill and Burst, but they do their jobs more than well that he’s still first.

With his Elemental Skill, Venti summons a Wind Domain at the opponent’s location that deals AoE Anemo DMG which launches enemies into the air. Holding the Elemental Skill will summon a larger Wind Domain around him, dealing AoE Anemo DMG and launching nearby enemies into the air.

The most sought-after skill of his, though, is the Elemental Burst. Through this, Venti creates a huge Stormeye that sucks in objects and enemies along its path whilst dealing continuous Anemo DMG. It can also absorb the first element it comes in contact with, dealing additional Elemental DMG of that type.

Arguably, his Crowd Control ability is the best one in the game; it renders the enemies immobile as it’s stuck in the Stormeye, making it easier to attack all of them at once.

Why Venti Is Great:

  • Elemental Skill launches nearby enemies into the air, making them easy targets as they slowly fall down as an effect
  • Elemental Burst sucks in everything in its path as it deals Anemo DMG continuously
  • Elemental Burst allows you to attack enemies at once in one place
  • Elemental Burst can deal extra Elemental DMG with the first Element it comes in contact with
