In the world of Genshin Impact, weapons aren't the only things that define the strength of a unit. Artifacts play a huge role in the overall stats of a character, and getting the right ones for your team is a long and arduous process.

10. Farming Routes
As they say, "beggars can't be choosers".
In the gigantic open-world, you can find lots of places of interest. These shiny indicators can lead you to quests, special items, or, more commonly, artifacts.
The artifacts you get from this method are mostly going to be of 3-star rarity so don’t expect to find your next most powerful piece this way. However, this method brings in a lot of “fodder”, or sacrificial pieces, which you can then use to upgrade your better artifacts.
There are multiple farming routes discovered by the Genshin Impact community, they can be found in any region and can be done every once in a while as they are always set to respawn.
How It Works
- Look up any farming route guides available, there are many variants, so follow one that is most convenient for you.
- Mark the route on your map to keep a steady record.
- Run the route every now and then for bountiful artifacts.
9. Open Chests
Funny enough, it's the adventurers that search for chests, not the pirates.
Chests can be found in every corner, and every chest has a chance to give you a handful of artifacts. This is a great way for early game players to improve their accounts, but not so much for late-game players as chests do not respawn.
Depending on the variety of chests, you can get different rarities of artifacts. Most of the time, you’ll be stuck with common chests with 3-star loot, but the abundance of these treasures is vast, so you’ll be swimming in lots of fodder.
How It Works
- Accomplish any puzzle, challenge, or clear any camp that you see on your travels.
- If you encounter any puzzles that you aren’t able to clear just yet, make sure to mark it down on your map for later.
- Luxurious chests are the best among all chest types, but common chests are highly abundant that they make up for the low rewards.
- Keep your new artifacts or use them as fodder.
8. Purchase From Tubby

In the realm depot, you can get 5 pieces of Sanctifying Essence with 10,000 exp points each and 20 pieces of Sanctifying Unction with 2,500 exp points each. This is a good amount considering the shop restocks every week, so make sure to pick these up if you're planning on raising a new set.
How It Works
- Unlock your Serenitea Pot.
- Level it up as much as you can to generate realm currency.
- Purchase the Sanctifying Essence and Sanctifying Unction whenever you need it.
7. Complete Quests
People should be more like him, calm and just minding his own business.
What is an open-world game without quests? You can get various rewards from completing quests in the game, artifacts included.
Any quest is worth doing, and aside from the reward you get for accomplishing it, you’ll come across chests and points of interest along the way as well. It’s also going to help you raise your AR or world level to increase your chances of getting rarer drops.

A handful of 3-star artifacts can come a long way over time.
Did you know that there are hidden shops? These are the ones that aren’t as heavily advertised, but this doesn't mean that their products aren't good.
If you’re looking for the most direct way to get artifacts, here it is. You can actually purchase them from hidden shops around the world. There’s a limit to how many you can buy at a time, but luckily they reset every now and then.
How It Works
- There are a handful of artifact vendors in the world, namely, Shiliu in Mondstadt, Zhang Shun and Linlang in Liyue, and Yamashiro Kenta in Inazuma.
- Visit any of the aforementioned vendors and purchase their artifacts for 2000 mora a piece.
3. Beat Bosses
A boss where hydro catalyst users truly shine.
Genshin Impact is generous in the way that it sneaks in ways for you to make mora, exp books, and artifacts, while doing other things. Take fighting bosses as an example.
Any boss you defeat can not only give you ascension materials, but also resources and artifacts. Both world and weekly bosses drop artifacts, and have a chance of even giving 5-star ones. If you’re looking to raise a new character, make sure to keep an eye on any new artifacts you get that can be worth raising.
How It Works
- Navigate towards any boss that you need to take down.
- Defeat the boss and reap the rewards.
- Repeat until you get all the ascension drops you need. Do not beat bosses just for farming artifacts, as there are better and more efficient ways to do this.
2. Spiral Abyss
This is what your DPS's do when you replace them.
It’s a given that taking on the Spiral Abyss is no easy task. But with hardship come great rewards. Aside from the primogems and other rewards you take with you, you can also get away with 5-star artifacts.
The artifacts here come in Domain Reliquaries, or simply interactable boxes that give artifacts when opened. The variety here is limited, but at least you can get up to 5-star artifacts while enjoying the primogem rewards. Remember that Floors 9 to 12 reset twice a month, so visit whenever you get the chance.
How It Works
- Make sure to be ready for intense combat. Have at least one solid DPS character that can carry your team through the early stages of the abyss.
- It is recommended to have crowd control units with you to make your fights more convenient.
- When you reach floors 9 to 12. You must have at least two separate teams prepared in order to accomplish the challenges within the given time.
- Don’t feel bad if you can’t get 36 stars immediately, as this truly is a challenge, even for veteran players.
- Get as many stars as you can every reset and work your way up as you upgrade even your support characters.
- Open your Domain Reliquaries and enjoy your new artifacts.
1. Focus On Farming Resin Efficient Domains
In the myriad of domains in the game, knowing which are the best to farm is essential.
The best way to farm artifacts and guarantee getting high quality ones is to grind efficient domains. Artifact sets in domains come in pairs, and there are definitely some pairings that are better than others. Domains at higher levels are guaranteed to provide 5-star artifacts, but of course, the main stats and substats are completely randomized, so getting the most out of your spent resin is highly crucial.
Among the best artifact domains are the Momiji-Dyed Court and Peak of Vindagnyr. Both domains will provide you with useful artifacts sets that can generally be used with a lot of units in the current roster. Of course, whichever domain you choose to farm is totally up to you, but if you’re looking for a good way to spend some extra resin, these are the ones you should go for.

- Identify which artifact you wish to farm first. It is highly recommended that you prioritize your main DPS first.
