Welcome, dear readers. If you have found this article, that means you have reached the final showdown. You stand before the Scrybe of Beasts, cards clutched close to your chest, gazing over his selection of Boons. A single thought crosses your mind “which one do you choose?”

There are 5 Boons that can be presented to you if you pass the Trials, one Boon you get outside the Trials. The Boons you can get in the trials are the Boon of the Magpie’s Eye, Boon of the Ambidextrous, Boon of Goat’s Blood, Boon of the Forest. The Boon you get outside the Trials is the Minor Boon of the Bone Lord.

The Boon you can get either way is the Boon of the Bone Lord. We’ll get to what that means a little later in the article. Each and every one of these Boons have great use but it can be hard to find one that suits your needs.

Welcome to Inscryption: Best Boons To Choose.

1.Boon of the Magpie’s Eye

The Eye sees all.
The Eye sees all.

When you draw from your deck, you may choose any card in your deck to draw.

I will admit that my deck is always messy. I hoard cards, and that makes it really hard to play my strategies. . This is what makes the Boon of the Magpie’s Eye most useful. No matter how cluttered your deck is, you can pick out the card you want.

Whatever it may be, the Boon of the Magpie’s Eye is definitely a great card for newer and seasoned Carders’ alike. Its function is the same as its card counterpart, but without the clutter of it being on your board. Instead of just being a one-use or sacrificing the Magpie for its sigil, the Boon occurs at the beginning of every turn and ends when the battle ends.

The battle rages on, and your cards fall, you can line your perfect soldiers in their place. And the spirit of your Magpie soars faithfully over the field, using its sharp eye and talons to comb your ranking. This Boon is the foundation of a great run of Leshy’s final showdown.

The ability to draw any card at the beginning of your turn gives you more freedom with any potential strategies you have cooking. The Magpie Eye Boon is especially useful if you’ve overplayed your hand and need to play catch up.

Boon of Magpie’s Eye Strengths:

  • The Boon is a card that automatically plays itself, and because this one is the beginning of every turn, you don’t have to worry about sacrificing a space to pick a card.
  • This will negate the random card distribution and risk from just blindly pulling, because now you can actually pick what you need.
  • This Boon pairs well with the Boon of the Ambidextrous, especially if you have a strategy that needs extra set up.

2. Boon of the Ambidextrous

Are you handy?

You may draw twice at the beginning of your turn.

This brings us to our second Boon, the Boon of the Ambidextrous. Now this Boon and the Boon mentioned prior are the Boons I frequent whenever I play through Act 1. But that’s mostly because my deck is messy, and I need some help with my strategies.

The Boon of the Ambidextrous allows you to draw twice at the beginning of your turn, but it doesn’t confine you to one deck. You can choose to choose two Squirrels, two Beast cards, or a Squirrel and a Beast card.

This eliminates having to wait an entire turn to get a second card. The downside of having this Boon is that you can run out of cards quickly if you are not careful.

Boon of the Ambidextrous Strengths:

  • You’re able to draw two Squirrels if you need, so you can get your Ouroborus out or if you need to get out some sacrificial fodder.
  • If you weren’t able to get the Boon of the Magpie’s Eye, at least having the Boon of the Ambidextrous increases your chances of pulling that card you want.
  • Another less intrusive card, the Boon of the Ambidextrous doesn’t take up any space and is an automatically played card. This gives you more room to place down stronger cards.

3. Boon of Goat’s Blood

If a sacrifice must be made....
Use the blood to slick the path of your enemies. They can't fight if they can't stand.

You will start the battle with a Black Goat on the board.

A free Black Goat is always useful. Whether it’s to use as fodder to aid your Ouroboros or just to sling out some beastly cards, the Black Goat has a use for everyone. The Black Goat does take up a singular space on your board, so until it is sacrificed you will be working with three open spaces.

The Black Goat from the Trials can be altered by the Hooved Totem you get from the Woodcarver. If you can get the Unkillable sigil for the Hooved Totem, you can keep that Black Goat for more than the one turn it was meant for.

Boon of Goat’s Blood Strengths:

  • The Boon of Goat’s Blood gives you a free Black Goat card in which you can get strong cards out like the Ouroborus, the Grizzly, or even the Shark.
  • Being given a free Black Goat can give you a brief wall if you have a different strategy in mind.
  • Your Hooved Totem will still affect the Black Goat. So if you snag the Unkillable Totem or the Many Lives Totem, you can have a Black Goat that you can use multiple times.
  • The Boon of Goat’s Blood works well with the Boon of the Ambidextrous. Especially with the aforementioned Totem. This way, you’ll be able to not only draw multiple cards, but play them as well.

4. Boon of the Bone Lord

The Underworld's Currency
The bones of one are bones for many.

You will start the battle with 8 bones.

The Boon of the Bone Lord is a Boon you can grab before the final fight. That’s right. You can get those 8 bones at the beginning of every battle by sacrificing the Black Goat. Being able to have this many bones at the beginning of every battle is a game changer.

Inscryption forces you to die again and again in order to learn all the mechanics. By the second time you die, you’re learning about bones, and that’s where this Boon is most useful. With these 8 bones, you can already summon creatures like the Stinkbug, the Cockroach, or even the Turkey Vulture.

Boon of the Bone Lord’s Strengths:

  • While the Minor Boon of the Bone Lord is snagged outside of Leshy’s Trials, you can grab the Boon of the Bone Lord in or outside the Trial. It just requires your Black Goat. You don’t need that right?
  • Being able to have 8 bones at the beginning gives you more wiggle room with your strategy if your card distribution isn’t that good.
  • This Boon doesn’t clutter up your board, so you won’t be forfeiting any extra card spaces.

5. Boon of the Forest

A tall forest erupts in the middle of the battlefield, and their shadows blanket you.
What creatures lurk in these woods?

You will start the battle with a Grand Fir on all your spaces.

Leshy’s final fight with you is relentless. You have to face each one of his subordinates and deal with their mechanics. You need to defend your spaces on the board so you don’t lose. There is a Mole Man. You have to fight the Moon.

It’s easy to see that you would need some breathing room to try and figure out your plan of attack. Thankfully, the Grand Firs provide that for you. Packed with 3 health and the Mighty Leap sigil, these four Grand Firs stand as a mighty wall while you sort your deck.

Boon of the Forest Strengths:

  • The four Grand Firs you get from this Boon gives you a defensive wall while you gather the cards and sacrifices you need.
  • If your Grand Firs last long enough for the Prospector, you can reset your wall by having him turn them into gold nuggets.
  • This Boon pairs well with the Boon of the Magpie’s Eye, because as you have that wall set up, you can pick and choose what strategy you want to go with. This can give you some extra time to put a finishing touch on an existing strategy or if you want to plan out a new one.

6. Minor Boon of the Bone Lord

Penny for your thoughts?
Penny for your thoughts?

You will start each battle with 1 extra bone.

This is a Boon you get outside of Leshy’s Trials by sacrificing your first card. This Boon is most useful for when you first start getting Bones. You start each battle with one bone, which is already half the cost of the Stinkbug.

The Minor Boon of the Bone Lord is good for starting your bone economy, and can help you get a start on playing lower cost cards. You can also couple this Boon with the Boon of the Bone Lord, in order to get nine bones at the start of your final battle with Leshy.

Minor Boon of the Bone Lord’s Strengths:

  • This is a Boon you can get outside of Leshy’s Trials, so it affects all your battles and not just the last one. You get it by sacrificing a creature to the Bone Lord.
  • You can pair this Boon with the Boon of the Bone Lord, giving you 9 bones at the start of your final battle instead of just 8.
  • With getting this Boon, you can play cheaper bone cards quicker. The Stinkbug is only two, so you can play it on your next turn with one more sacrifice.
