No longer the traitorous Edenian who everyone (and by everyone, I really mean Jade) despised, Tanya is now known as the honorable leader of the Umgadi in Mortal Kombat 1. Well, that and being Mileena’s super secret lover of course!
Tanya’s design has changed a lot since her last appearance in Mortal Kombat, which would be her small cameo in Mileena’s MK11 ending. And along with a new design, the leader of the Umgadi also has a new set of skins in Mortal Kombat 1 as well.
#1. Daughter of Outworld
No longer a daughter of Edenia, I see
Daughter of Outworld in action:To think that this priestess who was once a traitor to Edenia is now a loyal warrior fighting to protect Outworld. The skin shown above is called Daughter of Outworld and it’s a common New Era skin with a palette of white and beige. To unlock Daughter of Outworld, you have to level up your Character Mastery.
In Mortal Kombat 1, Edenia is no longer a realm and Edenians are just a native race of Outworld. But despite that, Outworld actually looks a lot more like Edenia with how lively and peaceful it is unlike previous versions of the realm. No wonder people like Tanya were able to change for the better considering how the royal family has kept peace in Outworld for so long.
#2: Warrior Priestess
Fighting evil in the name of her queen
Warrior Priestess in action:Trust me, Tanya was made as the leader of the Umgadi for a reason okay? Warrior Priestess not only describes Tanya perfectly, but it’s the name of the common skin shown above and its palette contains purple and black. To unlock Warrior Priestess, you have to level up your Character Mastery.
I do like how this skin has purple as basically the dominant color, because I think it’s supposed to represent Tanya’s connection to Outworld’s royal family, specifically Empress Sindel. Despite the former queen obviously not liking Tanya’s relationship with Mileena, the Umgadi warrior’s loyalty never faltered and I think it’s mostly because of her love for Sindel’s eldest daughter. If Mileena was on the side of evil, I’m sure Tanya would follow her no matter what!
#3: Incandescent Priestess
Her passion burns brighter than the sun!
Incandescent Priestess in action:If you want to get this priestess worked up, just try and mess with Mileena and I promise you she’ll come after you with fire in her eyes! Another common New Era skin we’ll look at is Incandescent Priestess, which has a palette with the colors red and gold. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Incandescent Priestess as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.
In past timelines, Tanya used to call herself a “survivor” and someone who makes the “right decisions” as a way to justify her traitorous and cruel attitude. But now in this new timeline, I think Tanya truly is making the right decisions for herself and those she serves. Not only that, the Umgadi warrior has survived for so long due to pure skill and not by betraying anyone.
#4: Holy Warrior
Compared to her in other timelines, this Tanya is an angel
Holy Warrior in action:Tanya strives to protect Outworld and to be the perfect example of what an Umgadi priestess should be. Holy Warrior, a legendary New Era skin for Tanya, is a skin with a palette of silver and gold. To unlock Holy Warrior, you have to level up your Character Mastery.
The Umgadi are actually a group of warrior priestesses who basically serve as security guards for the royal family. And these warriors have named the goddess Delia as their protector. I guess they really are holy warriors after all!
#5: Consort of the Royal Heir
I wonder what cute nicknames Mileena and Tanya have for each other
Consort of the Royal Heir in action:I mean, with all her options for a partner, Tanya is really not a bad choice (but only the current timeline’s Tanya okay?)! To celebrate their relationship, we have this common Union of Light skin, called Consort of the Royal Heir, which has a palette of pink and gray. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Consort of the Royal Heir as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.
I think it’s pretty obvious that the pink used in this common skin is supposed to remind us of Mileena. It’s only fair that the skin has a color that has some ties to the Empress of Outworld herself. Although, pink doesn’t look too bad on Tanya!
#6: Called by Delia
Delia made a wise choice, I must say
Called by Delia in action:Called by Delia is another skin that shows Tanya’s connection to the goddess! This common Union of Light skin has a palette containing red and black. To unlock Called by Delia, you have to level up your Character Mastery.
I did mention Delia before when I talked about Holy Warrior, but allow me to explain who Delia is. Delia is known as the Lady of the Flame and she, along with her husband Argus, are the most well-known deities of Outworld. But I do wonder if Taven and Daegon exist in this timeline as well since I don’t think they were mentioned at all in Mortal Kombat 1.
#7: Blazing Caperon
I guess Mileena would say Tanya is “blazing” in this outfit
Blazing Caperon in action:I mean, the Umgadi are protected by the Lady of the Flame herself, so the title is fitting for Tanya. Blazing Caperon is another common Union of Light skin and its palette has the colors gold, black, and brown. There are no specific requirements needed to obtain Blazing Caperon as you can get it from the Shrine or purchase it from the store.
Like Delia herself, Tanya is a pyromancer, a person who has control over fire. We see a lot of other characters in Mortal Kombat with this power as well, such as Scorpion and Liu Kang. Of course, pyromancy isn’t the core of Tanya’s abilities as she is talented in magic in general, but it was something she was known for in the past.
#8: Brasilia

Brasilia in action:We couldn’t have a top ten Tanya skins list without showing off some of her Funkeira skins! Here we have Brasilia, a common Funkeira skin with a palette that contains blue, green, yellow, and white. The Funkeira skins were exclusive in Brazil as a pre-order bonus, but now you can get them at the shop as a premium skin.
Here’s a little geography lesson: Brasilia is actually the capital of Brazil and it is known for its modern architecture, which was designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer. All three of Brazil’s government branches are even located in this city and Brasilia hosts over 100 foreign embassies. That’s pretty dang impressive, in my opinion!
#9: Natal
Bringing out your inner Mileena with this skin, Tanya
Natal in action:Let’s keep the Brazil theme going with this next Funkeira skin. Natal is another common skin and its palette contains the colors pink, green, and black. The Funkeira skins were exclusive in Brazil as a pre-order bonus, but now you can get them at the shop as a premium skin.
Like Brasilia, Nata is a city within Brazil and it’s the capital of the state of Rio de Grande do Norte. The city is located in the northeast region of Brazil and it’s known for its beautiful beaches. Maybe Tanya should take Mileena on a beach date sometime!
#10: Fortaleza

Fortaleza, which is also the name of a Brazilian city, is a common Funkeira skin containing a palette of green, purple, yellow, and blue. The Funkeira skins were exclusive in Brazil as a pre-order bonus, but now you can get them at the shop as a premium skin.
Fortaleza is the capital city of the state of Ceará, which is in the northeast region of Brazil. It is known as being one of the best cities in Brazil for parties and the area around the Dragão do Mar Center of Art And Culture is the liveliest in the city. Fortaleza may give Sun Do a run for its money when it comes to parties.
Look, whether you like Tanya or not, her Mortal Kombat 1 design is unique! Each skin has some sort of connection to people and events that are important to the Umgadi leader. And they are also cool to look at honestly, so make sure to get these skins yourself okay? You won’t regret it, I promise!
