Ever wondered what the best osrs weapons are?
Being an MMO, Old School RuneScape has a heck of a lot of weapons to choose from. What’s worse is that there isn’t a clear-cut answer as to which weapon is the “best”, making the process of choosing your weapon a complicated one; but rest easy, weary traveller, for I have compiled a list of the top 15 OSRS weapons that are worth your time. Now let’s get cracking with that list, shall we?
15.Dragon Scimitar (Ol’ reliable)
nothing needs to be this pretty
The Dragon Scimitar needs no introduction, it’s been the weapon of choice for countless players due to its cost-effective damage and relentlessly fashionable design. It’s usable by players who have an attack of 60 and have completed the “Monkey Madness 1” quest. It can be bought in Ape Atoll for 100,000 coins from Dagaz.
The sword also boasts a neat little special attack for your PVP endeavours: “Sever”. At the cost of 55% of your special attack energy, this special hits with increased accuracy and prevents the target prayer from casting the “Protect from Missiles”, “Protect from magic” and “Protect from melee” prayers. This is the kind of sword you’d take home to meet your mother, it’s there for you in a pinch and it won’t forget to water your plants when you’re out of town.
stats:
- +8 stab attack
- +67 slash attack
- -2 crush attack
- +1 slash defence
- +66 strength
What makes the Dragon Scimitar awesome:
- Cost-effective
- Respectable stat bonuses

14. Saradomin Godsword (High sustain for mob grinding)
imagine trying to fit this thing into a sheath
What a beaut! The Saradomin Godsword is the best of the 4 godswords in osrs and requires 75 attack to wield, it’s particularly useful for grinding or doing slayer tasks because its special attack will save you a chunk of time and a heap of gold. “But what’s this special attack?” I hear you ask. Well, dear reader, the Saradomin Godsword can perform “Healing Blade”.
This special will cost 50% of the player’s special attack energy but will grant the player +10% max hit, doubled accuracy, and it restores 50% HP & 25% prayer. Needless to say, you’ll be able to hunker down and slay as many beasties as you’d like without having to restock. But it doesn’t end there; this sword packs a wallop when it comes to stats, granting the player a whopping +132 to slash and strength as well as +80 to crush.
If high sustain and damage with slower hits sound like your type of deal, you’ll definitely want to consider adding this little number to your arsenal.
stats:
- +132 slash attack
- +80 crush attack
- +132 strength
- +8 prayer
What makes the Saradomin Godsword awesome:
- High stat bonuses
- Killer special attack
- Long-term time and gold saver

13. Abyssal Dagger (Go-to strength trainer)
that's a lot of pointy stuff!
This coveted little blade isn’t just the best dagger in the game, it’s also been crowned the best 1-handed strength trainer in the game due to its high DPS, making it a great choice for many players. It requires 70 attack to wield and can also be poisoned for some sneaky damage over time.
As for its special: While wielding the weapon, the player may perform “Abyssal puncture” for 50% special attack energy. This attack hits twice in quick succession and has a 25% accuracy increase with 15% reduced damage. The weapon grants the player (most notably) +75 stab and +40 slash.
stats:
- +75 stab attack
- +40 slash attack
- -4 crush attack
- +1 magic attack
- +1 magic defence
- +75 strength
What makes the Abyssal Dagger awesome:
- Best dagger in the game
- Best 1-handed weapon for strength training
- Can be poisoned

12. Abyssal Whip (Great attack trainer)
the barbershop pole of whips
It was a tough decision between the Abyssal Whip and the Tentacle Whip, but this weapon comes out ahead of its squishy sibling because: it doesn’t degrade as you use it, it’s easier to get your hands on, and it doesn’t need to be maintained. While the damage might be a little lower, its stats are no laughing matter and it’s still one of the best 1-handed weapons available. The Abyssal Whip requires an attack of 70 to wield and provides the player with +82 slash and strength.
Much like my mother when she asks me if I’ve got a girlfriend yet, the whip’s special attack is “energy drain”. This consumes 50% of the player's special attack energy and increases accuracy by 25% while transferring 10% of the target’s run energy to the player during PVP.
stats:
- +82 slash attack
- +82 strength
What makes the Abyssal Whip awesome:
- Great attack training option
- Offensive-focused
- Makes it difficult for enemies to flee during PVP

11. Scythe of Vitur (AOE damage)
who's blood is that?
The Scythe of Vitur truly is an interesting one. Being one of only 2 scythes in the game (the other being a regular old garden Scythe), it’s a weapon type we don’t get to see too often. This is a real shame considering it severely limits Grim Reaper cosplaying opportunities. That being said, this weapon holds its own on the battlefield.
The Scythe requires 75 attack and strength to wield and provides the player with some fun stat bonuses. while the scythe has no active special attack, it allows the player to hit up to 3 targets at once (1 by 3 area) at any given time. The weapon can also be charged to dramatically increase its stats. Players must add at least one vial of blood and a set of 300 blood runes to the Vyre Well next to the bank in Ver Sinhaza to charge it and increase its stats.
stats:
- +70 stab attack
- +110 slash attack
- +30 crush attack
- -6 magic attack
- -2 stab defence
- +8 slash defence
- +10 crush defence
- +75 strength
What makes the Scythe of Vitur awesome:
- AOE damage
- Decent base stats
- Can be made stronger

10. Armadyl Godsword (High potential PVP finisher)
another instance of "how the heck am I supposed to sheathe this thing?"
Now I know what you’re about to say: “Kaival, why did you put this weapon on the list after explicitly stating that the Saradomin Godsword is the best Godsword? You silly goose”. Firstly, allow me to compliment your attentiveness!
Secondly, while the Saradomin Godsword definitely stands its ground as the best of the bunch, the Armadyl Godsword fills a very particular role that its brother does not: big damage!
The Armadyl Godsword has the same stats and requirements as the Saradomin Godsword. The main difference is the special attack, “The Judgement”.
This attack consumes 50% of the player's special attack energy and performs an attack with a value (after some complicated math stuff) 37.5% higher maximum hit than a normal attack, making this weapon the coup de grâce to your PVP match.
stats:
- +132 slash attack
- +80 crush attack
- +132 strength
- +8 prayer
What makes the Armadyl Godsword awesome:
- High base stats
- Fantastic special attack for pvp encounters

9. Dragon Claws (Accurate PVP finisher)
you'd never be able to pick up a spoon while wearing these things
While the Armadyl Godsword has the potential to hit some massive numbers, it’s not the most accurate of weapons. That’s why the Dragon Claws are another popular choice when it comes to PVP finishers. People use Dragon Claws for the same reason they eat fibre- consistency.
Equipping the Dragon Claws requires 60 attack and grants the player (most notably) +56 strength, +57 slash and +41 stab. Now onto the real reason these claws are such a good pic- their special attack, “Slice and Dice”.
Often used as a finisher, this attack hits an enemy 4 times in quick succession. Each one of these attacks has the accuracy of a normal attack, but if one of the attacks lands, the following attacks in the combo are guaranteed to hit, making this weapon highly accurate.
stats:
- +41 stab attack
- +57 slash attack
- -4 crush attack
- +13 stab defence
- +26 slash defence
- +7 crush defence
- +56 strength
What makes the Dragon Claws awesome:
- High accuracy finisher
- Decent base stats
- Reliable in PVP

8. Twisted Bow (Ranged bossing)
too bad nobody can afford it
Moving on to ranged weapons, we have the Twisted Bow. Aside from its exorbitant price, a standout feature of this weapon is just how great it is at taking down monsters with a high magic level. The Twisted Bow requires a ranged level of 75 to wield and grants the player +70 ranged attack and +20 ranged strength. The bow can fire any type of arrow and it sports an attack range of 10 squares.
The Twisted Bow’s ace-up-the-sleeve comes in the form of its passive, which buffs the player’s damage and accuracy according to the magic level/ magic accuracy (whichever is higher) of the monster. Mathematical nonsense aside, the weapon’s accuracy caps at 140 and its damage caps at 250, making this bow a formidable weapon against any spell-slinging nasties.
stats:
- +70 ranged attack
- +20 ranged strength
What makes the Twisted Bow awesome:
- Unique and powerful passive
- Ability to fire any arrow type

7. Toxic Blowpipe (Jack of all trades)
looks like a flamboyant scorpion
Raids? Done! GWD? You got it! Slayer bosses? No problem! Ranged training? Absolutely! The Toxic Blowpipe may not be the most fashion-forward of the ranged weapons, but it sure as heck isn’t going to let the funny looks it gets from its neighbours stop it from being an absolute beast of versatility.
The Toxic Blowpipe requires a range level of 75 to equip and grants the player with +35 ranged attack, +20 ranged strength and an attack range of 5 squares. That may not be the most impressive, but consider the fact that it has one of the fastest attack speeds in the game and we’ve got ourselves a real winner. During PVP, the attack speed is 3 ticks and 4 ticks during PVE.
On top of that, the weapon has a 25% chance of inflicting venom on the player’s target. This chance is boosted to 100% if the player also equips a Serpentine Helm. The Toxic Blowpipe has one last little surprise for us in its special attack, “Toxic Siphon”.
At the cost of 50% of the player’s special attack energy, they’re buffed with 100% increased accuracy and 50% increased damage while also healing the player with a value equal to half the damage dealt.
stats:
- +30 ranged attack
- +20 ranged strength
What makes the Toxic Blowpipe awesome:
- Versatility
- High attack speed
- Venom chance
- Valuable special attack

6. Armadyl Crossbow (Worthwhile investment)
must be super hard to load this thing
The Armadyl Crossbow is the fancy-looking ranged murder weapon you’ve always wanted. Arguably the best crossbow in the game (we’ll talk about the Dragon Hunter crossbow in just a minute), the Armadyl Crossbow is the reason your trusty ol’ rune crossbow is sitting in your bank, collecting dust. It’s got some notable improvements such as higher damage, higher range, stronger bolts, a special attack and it’s the only crossbow with a prayer bonus.
Equipping the Armadyl Crossbow requires a ranged level of 70 and grants the player +100 ranged attack, +1 prayer and an attack range of 8 squares. The crossbow’s special attack is “Armadyl Eye”, which consumes 50% of the player’s special attack energy and doubles the accuracy of the next shot, it also doubles the chances of an enchanted bolt’s special effect to occur.
stats:
- +100 ranged attack
- +1 prayer
What makes the Armadyl Crossbow awesome:
- Worthwhile upgrade from rune
- Useful special attack
- Reasonable price

5. Dragon Hunter Crossbow (Best ranged dragon slayer)
man, dragon heads are cool
The Dragon Hunter Crossbow is the comfort food of ranged dragon slaying. It fills a more niche role than the Armadyl Crossbow in that it’s designed specifically for slaying dragons, making it a great option if you’re farming hides for gold.
The Crossbow requires 65 range to wield and grants the player +95 ranged attack and an attack range of 7 squares. The crossbow’s passive (the reason people use this weapon) is that when it’s used against draconic creatures (Wyverns and Dragons), it gains 30% accuracy and 25% damage. It has no special attack but that’s okay because it’s already so great at what it does.
stats:
- +95 ranged attack
What makes the Dragon Hunter Crossbow awesome:
- Great for gold farming
- High damage to dragons

4. Dwarf Multicannon (Hands-off farming)
using this thing feels like cheating
Now, this is an interesting one. The Dwarf Multicannon isn’t an equipable weapon but it sure as heck makes itself useful for farming as your loyal little murder pal. Once set up, the Dwarf Multicannon will attack any nearby enemies. Using the cannon requires the completion of “Dwarf Cannon”, a short quest about the conflict between a dwarven mining site and some local goblins.
What makes the Dwarf Multicannon such a fantastic tool is that it automatically attacks while the player does their own thing, serving as a great XP-granting teammate for killing more things, faster. And at the end of the day, isn’t killing more things faster all we really want to do?
stats:
- 35 max hit
What makes the Dwarf Multicannon awesome:
- Hands-off farming
- useful for xp grinding
- auto-attacks

3. Kodai Wand (A mage’s best friend)
looks terribly uncomfortable to hold
Onto magic. Starting off our selection, we’ve got the strongest wand in the game, the Kodai Wand. Now, this little number may not be as flashy as all the other items on this list, but it provides a couple of benefits that make it just straight-up great.
The wand requires 75 magic to wield and grants the player +28 magic attack, +20 magic defence and +15% magic damage. It is able to auto-cast Ancient Magicks, standard spells, and Arceuus combat spells. On top of that, it has a 15% chance of negating the rune cost of an offensive spell. It has no special attack, but it does provide unlimited water runes for all those splishy-splashy spells you like to cast, making this wand one to look out for.
stats:
- +28 magic attack
- +3 slash defence
- +3 crush defence
- +20 magic defence
- +15% magic damage
What makes the Kodai Wand awesome:
- saves money on runes

Have you ever wanted to suck the life straight out of people like a mother-in-law at a family gathering? Me too! That’s why the Sanguinesti staff is a fantastic choice for players like us.
The staff requires 75 magic to wield and grants the player (most notably) +25 magic attack and +15 magic defence. The staff has a built-in spell that grants the player 2 magic experience per point of damage dealt.
The Sanguinesti staff comes with a passive healing effect, in which there is a 1 in 6 chance that the player will be healed half the damage dealt to an enemy on a successful hit. A player may charge the staff with blood runes in order to use its magic spell.

1. Toxic Staff of The Dead (Straight up great)
reminds me of motel abstract art
Other than the fact that this weapon looks absolutely cool as heck, there are so many reasons to love this staff.
The Toxic Staff of The Dead requires 75 magic and 75 attack to wield and can be created by using a magic fang on the Staff of The Dead (requires 59 crafting).
The staff can autocast Flames of Zamorak, Magic Dart, Crumble Undead, and Arceuus combat spells. When a combat spell is cast while wielding the staff, there’s a 1 in 7 chance that the rune cost of the spell will be negated as well as a 25% chance of inflicting venom on the opponent for some damage over time, this chance is boosted to 100% if the player is also wearing a Serpentine Helm.
The staff’s special attack is called “Power of Death”, it costs 100% of the player's special attack energy and halves the opponent's melee damage.
stats:
