In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Abilities not only help characters traverse the in-universe version of New York City but also bring an extra edge in combat. While Miles, Peter’s protege who is working on coming into his own as Spider-Man has grown into a powerful hero himself, Peter undergoes some otherworldly changes in the sequel which add to his already great selection of powers from his first adventure. So without further ado, here are the top five abilities that Peter can obtain in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

1. Web Wings (Helps Peter traverse NYC easier than swinging)

The game thankfully gives you this very helpful ability early in the game. The web wings make traversal even more smooth than the first game, as it’s somewhat difficult at times to get around. What's more, if you can follow the air vents when flying with your web wings, you get an achievement, as a treat. From a personal standpoint, the Web Wings were a little bit difficult to master early in the game, and their controls can be flipped on their axis in the Accessibility settings, but once you get the hang of it, they truly do make the game better.

2. Spider Rush (Jet through enemies and around the map using your Spider Arms)

Peter’s answer to Miles’ Venom Dash, Spider Rush helps Peter in combat, while he speeds around combat areas to fight enemies, but also with traversal. Peter’s Advanced 2.0 suit has built-in extra spider limbs that allow him to get around quicker and land more flatly. It is strange to be able to use two other traversal modes when you got so used to just webswinging in the first game, but that is just one way that the sequel improves on the first game.

3. Symbiote Yank (Lift multiple enemies using symbiote power)

After Peter receives the symbiote, his powers get a significant upgrade. Introducing the Venom character was probably the most talked about story point in the lead-up to the game, and the ability to play with the infamous symbiote suit was what made the game a must-buy for fans. The Symbiote Yank is one of Peter’s best attacks with symbiote powers because you can keep enemies in the air for a longer period, as the sequel’s answer to the anti-gravity gadget in the first game.

4. Symbiote Blast (Unleashes the Symbiote upon all your surrounding enemies)

The major damage Symbiote attack does everything that the Yank attack does but at a larger range. Generally, as enemies can and will do their best to overpower you, while the animation takes a good amount of time to unleash itself, it is incredibly useful. The only reason it is this far down the list is because it takes a while to unlock.

5. Spider Barrage: Heavy Impact (Quickly dispatches your enemies with your spider arms)

Without the Symbiote Suit, the Spider Barrage is the strongest attack Peter can use. The Heavy impact ability comes later in the game, but it’s worth it because enemies will come thick and fast if you don’t attack just as quickly. I prefer the Symbiote Blast, but the Spider Barrage is well-animated and allows the player to feel powerful, showing off what makes the game even better than its predecessor.

That’s our top 5 list of Peter’s abilities in Spider-Man 2. Disagree? Think something else should’ve been added? Let us know.
