What are the best builds in HoloCure?
HoloCure - Save the Fans! Is a popular free rogue-like PC game in the style of Vampire Survivors featuring VTubers from the Hololive VTuber agency.
Similar to other rogue-likes, the player will be given choices every time their character levels up as to how they want to build said character, with four different options of weapons, items and skills available to select at each level up.
Naturally some options work better together than others and it can take a lot of trial and effort to figure out what the best builds are. With that in mind, here are some stand out builds to try in HoloCure.
10. Coin Build
Though certainly not the most powerful option, one of the most useful builds to know in HoloCure is the Coin Build. This will help you make Holo Coins at a much higher rate, allowing you to buy upgrades and increase your overall power for future runs.
It functions by using the Greed Stamp in conjunction with coin farming items like Super Chatto Time and Halu to give you as many coins as possible. This build is best done with only the main weapon available so the player should first buy all of the Weapon Limit upgrades from the third tab of the shop. This will keep other weapons from killing enemies before the Greed Stamp is able to reach its full coin making potential.
Build Details:
- Weapons: Main weapon only (buy all Weapon Limit upgrades from the third shop tab.
- Items: Stolen Piggy Bank, Super Chatto Time, Halu, a defense/healing item, a DPS boosting item, Blacksmith's Gear if you can find it early, otherwise an exp booster or another defense/healing item.
- Stamps: Greed, Bomb and Solo.
- Best characters for the build: AZKi, Ayunda Risu, IRyS, Pavolia Reine
How it works:
- The Greed stamp generates a lot of coins as you attack enemies, especially on main weapon only runs. Having other weapons will cut into your coin gathering potential.
- Bomb Stamp combos with Greed, activating its effect on the bomb hits.
- Solo is the best choice for the third stamp since you will only have one weapon active. If it doesn't drop, other DPS boosting stamps like ATK Up or Projectile Up will do.
- Stolen Piggy Bank gives a good amount of extra move speed while also generating yet more coins.
- Super Chatto Time will gather all coins dropped for you automatically while also increasing the amount.
- Halu will make runs with this build much harder but will greatly increase the amount of coins gathered, both by giving you more enemies to target and by giving you a Halu bonus at the end of the run
- You may feel vulnerable due to only having your main weapon, so you will want to pick a healing item (Nurse's Horn, Just Bandage, Uber Sheep) or defensive item (Headphones, Plushie, Body Pillow) to keep you safe.
- You will also want at least one good DPS boosting item, preferably one without many drawbacks for your character. Piki Piki Piman is a good default choice, but if you're playing a character with a high crit stat and a ranged or multi shot weapon Focus Shades may be better. For a non crit character Gorilla Paw is good.
- Blacksmith's Gear is a great choice if you find it early. Level it to max level quickly if you do. Since upgrade anvils will be the only way to improve your main weapon after it is awakened, it will allow you to get a bigger damage increase from each anvil that appears.
- Since Blacksmith's Gear is a rare option, if it doesn't appear before your weapon is awakened, take an exp booster (Study Glasses or Researcher's Coat) or another healing/defensive item instead.
Coin Build Strengths:
- It makes you coins, which you can invest into buying upgrades for future runs.
- Since it encourages you to play with your main weapon only, it offers a different experience compared to other builds and it can be satisfying to see how many coins you are able to generate in a single run.
- Though obviously not the strongest build option, if you're playing Risu or Reine using at least a partial coin build will actually boost your DPS due to their respective DLC and Lady of the Peafowl skills.
- On the rare occasion you manage to find the Super Super Chatto Time super item in a Holozon Box, the coin build will actually become very strong due to the super item's effect where damage is boosted by coins collected. Pivot to a full or partial coin build immediately if you find it.
9. EXP Build
The EXP Build is a fun option where the goal is to build your character so that she levels up as quickly as possible. Though this only translates directly into damage if you're playing as Roboco-san, it can be fun on other characters too, especially those who have skills that grant bonus exp.
It makes use of multiple items to boost both exp gain and pick up range. This way, there is both more exp available and it is easier to collect. The build will allow you to achieve max level on all your items and weapons much sooner than usual, which will in turn allow you to start regularly boosting your stats directly through stat ups.
Build Details:
- Weapons: one super collab and three regular collabs of the player's choice.
- Items: Study Glasses, Researcher's Coat, Limiter, Halu, Body Pillow, Knightly Milk or a DPS item of your choice.
- Stamps: Life-steal, Size Up, Pacifist
- Best characters for this build: Roboco-san, Vestia Zeta, Nakiri Ayame.
How it works:
- Study Glasses and Researcher's Coat will both boost the exp gained directly. Study Glasses also increase weapon damage for every level, which is important since you'll be leveling up a lot.
- Limiter will give you more pick up range, allowing you to pick up exp dropped by enemies more easily
- Halu will give you more enemies, which will translate to more exp. This will also make the game significantly harder.
- Body Pillow will give you a shield that can absorb occasional damage, adding some defense to the build. This will allow you to stay at full HP longer, combining well with Researcher's Coat which raises exp more when your HP is full.
- Knightly Milk is an ideal sixth item as it will not only give you even more pick up range, but will increase attack size of all weapons and add a knockback effect to attacks. Since it is rare though, it is fine to substitute a more common item if it doesn't appear. Beetle can be a really good choice if playing a character with at least one skill that does damage since it scales with level (if playing a character with two attack skills, it's actually optimal), any DPS boosting item can do though.
- Weapon choices don't really matter with this build beyond choosing a super collab that makes sense for the character chosen. For the recommended characters, I recommend Holy Fire for Ayame, Snow Queen for Zeta and for Roboco, either Snow Queen or Idol Live. Jingisukan is also a fair choice for the build if you feel you need a source of healing.
- For stamps, since the build doesn't have in-built healing, Life Steal will go far if you can find it (unfortunately it's a rare stamp). Size Up is good, especially if you did get Knightly Milk. And Pacifist is just a good crowd management tool that will help you break through hordes if you start to feel underpowered.
EXP Build Strengths:
- On Roboco, this build is incredibly powerful as all her skills are built around exp gain and leveling up.
- On other characters you will feel like you are underperforming for much of a run due to much of your item loadout not increasing DPS. You will max out all your weapons and items much quicker than normal though, allowing you to sooner transition to taking stat up options.
- Because of this, late into a run you may start to feel more powerful. This makes this build a better choice for Endless than Stage Mode.
- Though they will not benefit as much as Roboco from this build, Zeta and Ayame are fun to play with using it due to their respective Data Collection and Nakirium skills which grant bonus exp. They will max out their build faster than other characters.
8. Keep Away build
In HoloCure you are constantly being targeted by hordes of enemies with their sights set upon you. An effective build idea is to focus on weapons, items and stamps that will keep the enemies from getting close to you. If you're able to then kill them from a distance, you will get that wonderful feeling of being untouchable.
The basic idea is to stack effects that stall enemies and also incorporate knockback so enemies have trouble getting near. For it you want anything that can slow, freeze, stun or otherwise inconvenience the enemies rushing toward you. Items that allow you to avoid damage (Headphones and Body Pillow) will keep you undamaged by the few who manage to slip through while most enemies will fall before they even can draw near.
Build Details:
- Weapons: Snow Queen for super collab if you're playing a high crit character, otherwise Holy Fire. For regular collabs, choose Frozen Sea or Snow Flower Sake if Snow Queen is not used, Broken Dreams, Flattening Board or Absolute Wall and a fourth collab of your choice.
- Items: Knightly Milk, Headphones, Body Pillow, Devil Hat, Energy Drink, Researcher's Coat.
- Stamps: Knockback, Pacifist and Slow or Cold.
- Best characters for this build: Tsukumo Sana, Aki Rosenthal, Ouro Kronii, AZKi, Gawr Gura, Anya Melfissa, Ninomae Ina'nis.
How it works:
- For your super collab, Show Queen, which can freeze enemies, is the best option, but only if you're playing a character with a high crit. Holy Fire should be the alternative since it provides knockback
- If you do not use Snow Queen, use either Frozen Sea for slow or preferably Snow Flower Sake for freeze.
- Broken Dreams is another great pick that slows enemies that get close.
- Either Flattening Board or Absolute Wall is a good choice. The former will squash enemies, staggering them briefly while the latter will massively knockback anything that gets near.
- The last collabs can be anything. Consider looking out for a base weapon with a knockback enchantment and just using your favorite available collab using it.
- The crucial item for the build is unfortunately the rare one, Knightly Milk, which adds knockback to all weapon attacks in addition to adding to attack size and pick up range. Buy and use eliminates on undesired items to increase its chance of appearing.
- Headphones and Body Pillow are your only lines of defense for the occasional enemies that get through.
- Devil Hat will boost DPS on enemies far from you while decreasing damage for nearby enemies. Since the plan is to keep them away, it's a natural fit. Its radius of effect is rather big, however, so on certain characters, particularly melee characters, feel free to substitute in another DPS item.
- Energy Drink will increase attack and movement speed at the cost of Max HP. Since you're not planning to take damage with this build, this is a good trade.
- Researcher's Coat is a good fit to boost exp since you shouldn't be taking a lot of damage.
- Stamps that work well with the build are Knockback, Pacifist, Slow and Cold, with that order of usefulness.
Keep Away Build Strengths:
- This build can be very strong and fun to play with. Enemies will die before they even get close.
- Though it can fall behind on later levels where enemies are very fast and strong, it will generally keep you safe and unharmed.
- It adapts well to a wide variety of characters, but especially those with high knockback, those who can stun or slow and most characters with dodge skills.
7. Debuff Build
There are numerous ways to lower enemy stats in HoloCure whether through character skills, weapons or stamps. A fun and effective build can be created by stacking multiple of these debuff sources. For Aki Rosenthal this build is especially optimal as it will trigger her Mukirose skill constantly.
This build is notable on this list for not really depending on your item load out. Instead, it is dependent on using the specific collab weapons that can apply debuffs as well as the Slow and Weaken stamps. It is best used by Aki or another character who is already able to apply debuffs through either a weapon or skill
Build Details:
- Weapons: Holy Fire, Rap Dog, Frozen Sea, Broken Dreams
- Items: Largely your choice, but generally it's better to focus on offense rather than defense.
- Stamps: Weaken, Slow and either Projectile Upor Haste Up.
- Best characters for the build: Aki Rosenthal, Gawr Gura, Mori Calliope, Ninomae Ina'nis, Sakura Miko, Akai Haato, Kaela Kovalskia.
How it works:
- Holy Fire won't apply any debuffs, but it boosts DPS greatly and is the best fit for most of the recommended characters (Snow Queen and Jingisukan are good alternative options for Calliope and Haato respectively).
- Rap Dog applies a defense debuff on enemies.
- Frozen Sea and Broken Dreams both can apply a movement speed debuff. For Broken Dreams, only enemies who reach the bubble will be slowed.
- The Weaken and Slow Stamps can add additional opportunities to debuff with the main weapon. The Weaken stamp in particular is useful with this build as it's the only way for characters other than Aki, Miko and Haato to apply attack debuffs.
- The third stamp should increase the rate your main weapon attacks apply debuffs with the other stamps. If using a character with a multi shot weapon (Aki and Haato from the recommended list), this is best done with Projectile. For melee characters (all the others recommended), use Haste Up instead.
- Of all the builds on this list, the item loadout for this build is the most freeform and should depend on what turns up while looking for the specific weapon loadout. I find it generally best to lean strongly into boosting DPS. A partial crit build can even be used if desired.
- On Aki, the prime character for the build, definitely grab the Beetle, which will boost the damage from each Mukirose attack triggered by a debuff. It's a decent pick for most of the other recommended characters though (other than Haato).
- You may not need to take any defense or healing options, especially if your character has a healing skill, unless playing on a difficult stage.
- An exp booster like Study Glasses, Researcher's Coat or Halu is always a good idea to fill out a build quickly.
Debuff Build Strengths:
- Will constantly debuff your enemies, leaving them weak, slow and vulnerable once all three debuffs are in play.
- On Aki, the build will do incredible consistent damage from her Mukirose skill, which throws a punch whenever a debuff is applied.
- It's a freeform build for items, allowing a lot of flexibility and chances to experiment with different item loadouts.
6. Crit build (melee)
There are a number of characters in HoloCure with skills that boost their critical hit rate or skills that benefit from a boosted critical rate. This is the build for any of these crit characters who has a melee type main weapon.
The build works by boosting crit rate with the Snow Queen super collab and boosting crit damage with Hope Soda and the ATK Up stamp. It also takes full advantage of the boosted crit damage offered by the Crescent Bardiche collab.
Build Details:
- Weapons: Snow Queen, Crescent Bardiche, Legendary Sausage and one collab of your choice.
- Items: Hope Soda, Ninja Headband, Knightly Milk, Candy Kingdom Sweets, Nurse's Horn and one item of your choice.
- Stamps: ATK Up, Size Up and Haste Up.
- Best characters for the build: Mori Calliope, Takanashi Kiara, Ouro Kronii, Hoshimachi Suisei and Airani Iofifteen.
How it works:
- The Snow Queen super collab gives a twenty percent boost to your crit rate. This combined with all the recommended characters crit boosting skill, their innate crit rate and whatever Crit upgrades you have bought should be enough to make most of your hits crit.
- Crescent Bardiche does an extra 50% crit damage by default on all targets hit by the main polearm. It's also a melee weapon so it will be boosted by Ninja Headband.
- Legendary Sausage is another reliable melee weapon that pairs especially well with the Ninja Headband that is part of the build.
- The fourth collab can be anything. I would typically avoid Absolute Wall even though it is melee however as the knockback can get in the way. A good strategy is to be on the lookout for a base weapon with a Crit Damage enchantment and use your favorite collab it can form.
- Hope Soda will increase your crit damage by up to 50%. It does come with the unfortunate trade off of being unable to use your special as often, but the constant DPS boost is generally worth it.
- Ninja Headband boosts the power of all melee weapons, which for this build will be your main weapon, Crescent Bardiche and Legendary Sausage. It also boosts your movement speed, which will help you keep Legendary Sausage spinning.
- Melee weapons as a rule generally benefit from boosts to attack size, so Knightly Milk, the only size boosting item, is optimal even though it's rare. Eliminate items you don't want to increase its chance to appear
- Melee weapons also generally work well with haste. The item that gives the most haste is Candy Kingdom Sweets. The price is a decrease to attack, but the extra attack speed will more than make up for it in terms of overall DPS.
- You'll want at least one healing item to keep you safe, and with the boosted haste, the best option is generally Nurse's Horn, since it heals faster the faster you kill enemies.
- For your final item, take your pick. An exp booster is a good call if you don't find something you like more. If you stumble upon the rare Kusogaki Shackles, it will also be worth it as it will get rid of the drawbacks from Hope Soda and Candy Kingdom Sweets, but it is by no means required for this build.
- For stamps, ATK Up will boost both your base attack and crit damage. Size Up and Haste Up are generally good stamps for a melee main weapon.
Crit (Melee) Build Strengths:
- A high DPS build that will produce a lot of flashy crit numbers on the screen.
- The ideal build option for Suisei and a great option for the other melee characters with crit skills.
- It can be easily changed into a non crit melee build by swapping in a different super collab and trading Hope Soda for a general attack boosting item. This can then be used with any melee character.
5. Special build
Using your character's unique Special Attack can be a particularly fun element of HoloCure. For characters with particularly strong specials it can be a good idea to use a build focused on getting the most out of said special.
There are two key options that can do this. The Idol Live super collab, which will let you use your special more often and give you a stat boost when you do, and Piki Piki Piman, which can increase the damage of your special. This works even better with characters who have skills that speed up special cooldown.
Build Details:
- Weapons: Idol Live and three collabs of your choice.
- Items: Piki Piki Piman, Just Bandage, Membership, an exp booster and two DPS boosters of your choice.
- Stamps: your choice.
- Best characters for the build: Ookami Mio, Murasaki Shion, Moona Hoshinova, Hakos Baelz, Nakiri Ayame, any character with a special you really like that does direct damage.
How it works:
- The Idol Live super collab is the centerpiece of this build. It will decrease your special's cooldown significantly and also boost all your stats whenever you use your special.
- The rest of your weapon loadout is flexible. Use your favorites.
- Piki Piki Piman boosts your special (and main weapon) damage in proportion to your max HP. It also gives you more max HP.
- Just Bandage should be your choice for a healing item as it not only heals you well, but it also gives more max HP, increasing the effect of Piki Piki Piman.
- Max HP and defense combine well in HoloCure, so since you will have two max HP boosters it will be a good idea to take a defense booster as well. Membership will be better than Breastplate on most characters as it also increases attack. The only cost is what amounts to a negligible amount of coins per run.
- The rest of your item loadout is relatively freeform and should depend somewhat on your character. You generally have the defensive side of your build covered though, so focus on finding a couple good DPS boosters and an exp booster. For Mio, Shion and most especially Moona, I recommend Beetle as one of your DPS items to boost the power of attack skills.
- No stamps can improve your special or your HP so your stamp loadout is completely freeform. Use your favorites that appear and anything that compliments your character's main weapon.
Special Build Strengths:
- A great build if you love using the special attacks for various characters.
- Will do very well on characters like Mio, Shion and Moona who can speed up their special cooldown through skills.
- Also good for characters like Baelz and Ayame who have generally very powerful specials and can work with most characters other than those who have non damaging specials (Idol Live will benefit non damaging specials, but Piki Piki Piman cannot).
- Very flexible since there are not many mandatory components to the build.
4. Crit build (projectiles)
Though the crit melee build earlier on this list is a great option for many characters, for ranged and multi shot characters a different crit build is in order.
The key item for these characters with their projectile weapons is the Focus Shades which not only add crit chance to all ranged and multi shot attacks, but also cause enemies hit by crits from said weapons to take a large amount of extra damage afterwards.
Build Details:
- Weapons: Snow Queen, any three collabs other than Legendary Sausage, Crescent Bardiche, BL Fujoshi or Absolute Wall.
- Items: Focus Shades, Hope Soda, Devil Hat, a healing item, an exp booster and one item of your choice.
- Stamps: ATK Up, Projectile Up if multi shot, Bomb if projectiles are small and fast, otherwise your choice.
- Best characters for the build: Amelia Watson, Hakos Baelz, IRyS, Nekomata Okayu, Yuzuki Choco, Minato Aqua, Pavolia Reine and Vestia Zeta.
How it works:
- As with the melee crit build, Snow Queen is still your optimal super collab due to it increasing your crit rate. It also counts as a ranged attack so it works with Focus Shades.
- The other collabs are largely your choice, but avoid the melee weapons in favor of ranged and multi shot collabs to optimize the effects of Focus Shades. The only melee collabs are Legendary Sausage, Crescent Bardiche, BL Fujoshi and Absolute Wall. A good strategy is to be on the lookout for weapons enchanted with the Crit Damage enchantment and make your favorite collabs based on what you're given.
- The key item for this build is Focus Shades. It adds to the crit chance of all non melee weapons and causes all non melee weapons to inflict enemies with a status where they take a large amount of damage over the next five seconds once hit.
- Hope Soda is still a good option as it will boost your overall crit damage significantly at the cost of a slower special cooldown.
- Since you will be using only projectile attacks, Devil Hat is a good choice to boost DPS as it will significantly increase your damage done to enemies far from you. It will lower damage on enemies near to you, but with this build you should generally be doing very high DPS and killing enemies before they get close.
- That said, for your safety it's still a good idea to take a healing item (or a solid defensive item like Body Pillow) to keep you safe just in case.
- An exp booster (Study Glasses, Researcher's Coat, Halu) is also generally always worth a slot.
- Your sixth item is up to you and may depend on the character. If you're playing as a character with a really good special, you may find it worth it to grab Idol Costume to counteract the negative effects of Hope Soda. Or if you happen to see the rare Kusogaki Shackles item, it can get rid of the negative effects of both Hope Soda and Devil Hat.
- For your stamp loadout, ATK Up is a great choice since it further increases crit damage. The other two should depend on your weapon. For most multi shot Projectile Up is the best option hands down. If you have small or fast projectiles for your main weapon, Bomb will help you a lot. On bigger, slower weapons, Size Up and Haste Up will serve you better.
Crit (Projectile) Build Strengths:
- This can be a very high DPS build that will tear through enemies quickly.
- There are a lot of characters with skills that give them extra crit who do not have melee weapons. For all of them this is a good choice.
- Since the Focus Shades and Snow Queen both give crit chance, it's a solid build even on characters other than the recommended, so long as they are not melee.
3. Tank build
It's often said that sometimes a good defense makes the best offense, and that can definitely be true in HoloCure as well. With certain characters this build can make you into an unstoppable tank that can glance off enemy attacks like they're nothing.
This is accomplished by taking all the options to increase the max HP and defense of your character so you not only take less damage per hit but have more health to take. What's more, with the Jingisukan super collab in effect you will constantly be healing damage as it's dealt. Even with slightly less DPS than some of the other builds on this list, you can feel just as powerful.
Build Details:
- Weapons: Jingisukan, three collabs of your choice.
- Items: Breastplate, Membership, Just Bandage, Piki Piki Piman, Limiter, a character specific item (see below).
- Stamps; Weaken, two stamps of your choice.
- Best characters for the build: Inugami Korone, Ookami Mio, Akai Haato, Natsuiro Matsuri.
How it Works:
- Your super collab for this build should be Jingisukan. This super collab grants you a staggering 100 additional max HP just by taking it. What's more, it heals you at a steady pace while it damages enemies.
- The other collabs are up to you as nothing will really increase your defense. As a general tip I would typically avoid Absolute Wall as this build is best played close up and in the middle of the action and it will push enemies away. Stuff that is more close up like the other melee collabs or Broken Dreams are good options.
- For items you want both of the game's primary defense boosters, Breastplate and Membership. Membership also boosts attack, and does it in exchange for coins. Breastplate costs some movement speed but gives every hit you take a chance to reflect back on the enemy. The coins are negligible for a full run and this build doesn't require speed as you won't need to run away from the enemy.
- Just Bandage heals and will be useful before you get Jingisukan but its main function in this build is to give you more max HP.
- Piki Piki Piman gives yet more max HP. It also causes your main weapon and special attack to do more damage proportional to your max HP, making it very powerful in conjunction with Just Bandage and especially Jingisukan.
- Rather than one of the more traditional exp boosters, a good idea for this build is to use the Limiter. This will let you pick up exp more effectively without having to move around a lot. It also will keep you picking up the burgers that drop from Jingisukan (which retains the effects of the Uber Sheep used to make it).
- For the final item, if you're playing as Korone or Haato, use a good DPS booster that does not lower Defense or max HP (so avoid Face Mask or Energy Drink), and in the case of Haato, favor Haato mode over Haachama mode as you play. Mio's innate increased defense only comes while she's using her (very powerful) special, so for her definitely choose the Idol Costume so you can use it more often. Matsuri's a bit different than the other characters recommended as she does not actually have an innate skill that boosts her defense but is instead recommended because she has two counter skills that can trigger on hit, God and Seiso. For her, grab the Beetle to boost the damage output of these skills and be sure to ram purposefully into the enemy as much as possible without putting yourself at risk.
- For stamps, use Weaken. This will further decrease the enemies damage by lowering their attack power. The other two stamps are up to you and should depend on your character.
Tank Build Strengths:
- A fun build to play. It's great watching enemies swarm you and fail to do any significant damage before you kill them.
- When playing as Matsuri the build becomes a counter tank build where you dish out tons of damage as you take attacks via her skills and the Breastplate.
- Though best on Matsuri and the characters who are able to raise their defense, this build can be used to turn any character into an effective tank.
2. Shackle build
One of the most interesting and fun items in HoloCure to play around with are the Kusogaki Shackles. Though a rare find, this powerful item unlocks some really crazy build options to consider.
Useless on their own, the shackles have the effect of removing the negative effects on all your other items so long as said effects target the player and not the enemy (so it doesn't cancel out the negative effects of Halu). This build combines the shackles with a bunch of powerful items that typically have large drawbacks to maximize your DPS.
Build Details:
- Weapons: Holy Fire, Rap Dog and two collabs of your choice.
- Items: Kusogaki Shackles, Injection Type Asacoco, Candy Kingdom Sweets, Devil Hat, Face Mask, and an exp booster.
- Stamps: Life-steal and two stamps that work well with your main weapon
- Best characters for the build: Amelia Watson, Ninomae Ina'nis, Mori Calliope, Nanashi Mumei, Nakiri Ayame, Minato Aqua, Kaela Kovalskia.
How it works:
- The critical piece of this build is of course the Kusogaki Shackles. They are unfortunately one of the rarest items to show up as a selection in the game and the build doesn't work without them, so if you want to try this build out, it might be a good idea to buy some rerolls in the shop and try to get the item to show up early in a run before committing to it.
- For your super collab, Holy Fire is the optimal fit for this build as it boosts overall attack damage.
- The other three collabs are mostly up to you, though I do recommend Rap Dog for at least one as the defense debuff it applies will boost your overall DPS.
- For our first non-shackles item be on the lookout for Injection Type Asacoco. This item provides a significant boost to your attack in exchange for constant health drain, making it usually undesirable, but with the shackles you won't need to worry about that.
- Next is Candy Kingdom Sweets. This item boosts your attack speed massively and sometimes causes attacks to hit twice in exchange for lowering your attack stat. This trade off is generally worth it even normally, but with the shackles it's incredibly strong.
- The third item to lookout for is the Devil Hat. This item causes a circle to be drawn around your character where enemies inside the circle take less damage and enemies outside the circle take significantly more. It's very build dependent on whether this trade off is normally good, but with the shackles none of your damage is reduced (you will still only be doing extra damage to enemies outside the circle though, so keep that in mind).
- And the final recommended DPS boosting item to combine with the shackles is the Face Mask, an item which boosts attack and attack speed both in exchange for lowering defense. Do note that this item is another rare one and not completely essential to the build. If it fails to appear for you, go with the Membership instead. Membership is also just a good alternative if you feel too vulnerable with the build as it will raise your defense as well as attack.
- For your last item slot, choose an exp booster (possibly even Halu).
- Stamps are mostly up to you, though on harder stages especially you may want to be on the lookout for the Life-steal stamp to add a bit of healing to the build, especially if you're playing a character who lacks a healing skill.
Shackle Build Strengths:
- Being able to take all of the biggest damage boosting items without any of their drawbacks leads to insane DPS that can tear through enemies with ease.
- It's a fun build to use as it allows you to select and play around with items you may otherwise avoid during normal runs due to their drawbacks.
- The recommended characters are the games most pure DPS characters who will be the best with this build, but you can make just about any character really powerful by using it.
1. Healing build
There are a number of sources of healing that can be used in a run of HoloCure, and for most builds it's generally a good idea to have at least one. On four specific characters, however, healing pays more than usual and will actually result directly in damage to your enemies.
Fauna, Sora, Mel and Choco can all turn healing on themselves into damage on the enemy through their Guardian Tree, Idol Healing, Genius Vampire and Nurse skills. Creating a build that exploits this to heal constantly can lead to a powerful and fun experience that will have you feeling like the enemy doesn't stand a chance.
Build Details:
- Weapons: Jingisukan and three collabs of your choice.
- Items: Nurse's Horn, Beetle, Membership, Sake, an exp booster, one character specific item (see below).
- Stamps: Life-steal and/or your choice.
- Best characters for the build: Ceres Fauna, Tokino Sora, Yozora Mel, Yuzuki Choco.
How it Works:
- Jingisukan should be your super collab. It heals every second as long as you stay within its aura. It also gives you 100 max HP.
- Your other collabs are up to you. Just pick your favorites or whatever turns up with good enchantments.
- The only actual healing item that should be in your final item loadout is Nurse's Horn, which has a thirty percent chance to heal you every time you kill an enemy. The healing from this will activate frequently, triggering your character's heal damage skill and will be the main source for triggering it before you complete Jingisukan.
- The point of this build is to trigger your character's heal to damage skill regularly for more damage. To amplify the damage from every attack from these skills, use the Beetle. It will greatly increase your overall DPS.
- Because of the extra max HP from Jingisukan, it's a good idea to take a defense booster to make the HP go even further and Membership is the better option as compared to Breastplate due to it also boosting your attack. All it costs is a small amount of coins per run where you use it.
- Sake will improve your crit rate. This is especially important for Choco, but it's a good option for the others as well. Every heal from Jingisukan triggers Sake's bonus effect where you get even more crit out of it when eating food. If you don't take a lot of hits, you can expect a full 25% crit out of it which can add up to DPS quickly even not on a crit character.
- Take an exp booster to help you level up and complete the build faster.
- And for the last item, again we have a build where each of the recommended characters has a different ideal choice. For Choco, due to her nature as a crit character, you will want either Hope Soda or Focus Shades to make her crits even more damaging. Sora's Idol Healing skill is unique among the four heal to damage skills in that the amount healed is actually factored into the resulting damage, so for her the rare Full Meal item, which doubles all healing, is a nice addition to her build if you see it. On Mel and Fauna, you just want a good DPS booster. The best for the build is probably Injection Type Asacoco, but save it for your final item after you already have Jingisukan as your healing might not outpace its health drain effect until then.
- Stamps are largely your choice. Life-steal is a good pick up to add even more regular heals. Fauna, Choco and Sora are all multi shot characters who will benefit a lot from Projectile Up, while for Mel, who is melee, you may want Size Up or Haste Up.
Healing Build Strengths:
- It's a perfect blend of offense and defense, where the skill attacks will be constantly triggering for great damage while you are constantly healing and feeling invincible.
- Though it only really works on four specific characters, it turns those characters generally into some of the best in the game.
- Mel in particular with this build is broken. Due to every heal from Jingisukan being a food heal, her Acerola Juice skill will trigger every second, keeping her constantly buffed and giving her eight life steal attacks that will trigger her Genius Vampire skill each time.
