Even though their teeth might be crooked their aircraft wings aren’t that’s for sure. The gun barrels might be though. When it comes to the Brits and their aircraft they were iconic in WW2. We’ve seen so many of them in movies and TV Shows but never got their names well no worries you might recognize some of them in this article as one is quite popular.

I’ll be taking the two best planes from each tier so that way we don’t stay here all day and you don’t read my article all day. But guys I’ll say it right now my favorite planes in the whole game and the best planes, in general, are the Spitfires. They are the most iconic ones and the best ones. 

Tier 1

The best plane: Tuck’s Gladiator Mk II 

What did I tell you about the Brits naming their planes after people? Unlike the other plane, this one is a fighter and a good one. It’s used to hunt down bombers or strikers before they do any major damage to your team. The reason why it’s so successful is that it was built out of paper mache and gains a lot of speed. God forbid a bird to fly into the plane because it’s going to go crashing down hard. Even a light breeze could fold this plane in half.

The second best plane: Catalina Mk IIIa (Great Britain)

So most of the early aircraft and tanks from the British Empire have a name after someone random. Why? Because they thought it was slick or something. It might have sounded cool in their head but we all know that they are crooked in many ways not including their teeth. This is a heavy bomber aircraft that doesn’t have a lot of weapons at display but what it does have is a ton load of explosives and reinforced steel plating armor.

Tier 2

The best plane: Boomerang Mk II

What is this name? Why would you name it like this? Because it never came back from where it started and it’s not even shaped like a boomerang. It is crooked tho I’ll give it that. But it is a light plane for a fighter aircraft and has a top speed of 491 km/h. But surprisingly it has a lot of weapons. The most I’ve ever seen. It has 2 x 20 mm Hispano Mk.II cannons and 4 x 7.7 mm Browning Machine guns. You can never run out of ammo while using this.

The second best plane: Halifax B Mk IIIa

Yes, this is the upgraded version of the Catalina and I have no idea why their bomber airplanes are so strong. This plane has a battle rating of 4.0 in tier 2! That’s insane in my opinion. And yes this plane is great at bombing objectives and removing them from the map like they never existed. You do not want to find yourself under this airplane.

Tier 3

The best plane: Spitfire F Mk IX 

Here we are finally at the pinnacle of British engineering. It’s the Spitfire airplane. This line of airplanes is the best in the game and real life no matter what. It’s also great at hunting other aircraft since its speed reaches up to 650 km/h. Also, this airplane sounds the best in the whole game.

The second best plane: Stirling B Mk III 

This is a heavy bomber airplane with an astonishing battle rating of 4.7! Even though it’s heavy it has a speed of 410 km/h. It’s fast for a bomber aircraft. The aircraft only has 6 browning machine guns but that’s more than enough because it has huge bombs in its dump truck. The plane is thicc from behind.

Tier 4

The best plane: Shackleton MR.Mk.2 

Another heavy bomber on this list. Is this even a surprise at this point? The interesting thing about this airplane is that it has its fuel tanks in its wings. So the more fuel you use the lighter the airplane. But for a bomber airplane, it has a 4 x 20 mm Hispano Mk. V cannons. It’s a heavy hitter for sure.

The second best plane: Plagis’ Spitfire LF Mk IXc

A Spitfire named after a person? You know that this person has to be a legendary pilot. The battle rating of this airplane is 5.3. It’s even better at hunting other aircraft not only the bombers. Anyone that gets into its shot can expect to be shot down.

Tier 5

The best plane: Meteor F Mk 8 G.41K 

This aircraft is what the Spitfire de-evolved into. Why not keep up the Spitfire line? They were one of the greatest aircraft ever. But I can’t deny that the airplane does perform well while doing what it’s meant to. You’re meant to fight people with it and you can do that as long as you have ammo or until you’re shot down.

The second best plane: Sea Vixen F.A.W Mk.2 

Oh, where do I start with this aircraft? It’s great at everything it does.  Even though it’s a fighter airplane it can demolish ground targets easily. Especially because it can go 1.109 km/h. Which is only a little bit slower than my grandma. Don’t worry this aircraft is used mainly for naval combat but since it’s a game you can use it anywhere.

Tier 6

The best plane: Lightning F.6

This aircraft is a long descendant of the Spitfire and it holds that name in pride. They finally did something great. While using this aircraft it will feel like you’re a bolt of lighting, zooming past everyone to get to the win. But while you zoom you’ll also leave destruction in your path.

The second best plane: Jaguar GR.1 

It was hard picking great aircraft for tier 6 because they all have the same rating but don’t worry I used the aircraft so I could make this list. It’s a great airplane to use and especially doing drive-bys on people. It also supports every single weapon in the game. So you’ll never run out of options. 

Tier 7

The best plane: Jaguar GR.1A 

I’ve just realized that the British have stopped naming their aircraft after people and it’s a great thing they did. This is the improved version of the Jaguar GR.1 but it’s not a huge improvement sadly. They just fixed some flaws that the other one had and improved its top speed by 400 km/h. It still supports every weapon type with a fast firing rate.

The second best plane: Phantom FGR.2

This British aircraft jet fighter has a battle rating of 11.0 while also going at 2.268 km/h. I swear no matter how big the maps get in War Thunder they’ll never be big enough for this monster. You can go across the whole map in seconds but be careful when you turn at those speeds because you can knock yourself out.
