What are the best PvP classes to play in Battle for Azeroth?
PvP is a game in and of itself. It has everything to do with getting into your opponents head, and knowing their next move before they do. That being said, it’s easier to do when you know what the best classes are to play. In this list, I’m going to break down the top 10 character classes for PvP. Each class has multiple specs on this list, so I’ll give you an overview as well as specific spec benefits. . You’ll also find examples of how to build each spec/class, based on some of the top ranking PvP’ers world wide. So grab your cup of Thistle Tea, kick your feet up by the Hearth, and enjoy the read.
10. Havoc Demon Hunter
With a high mobility and massive damage output, you can’t have a PvP list without this class. Demon Hunters do insane amounts of burst damage, while still being able to hold their own in small cleave fights. That being said, Havoc is a simple class to play in an already stressful game setting. Plus it’s fun to watch them zip around the screen with Fel Rush.
- Powerful Aoe in Mana Rift
- Fel Barrage, Metamorphosis, and Chaos Strike brings high burst damage with ranged CD rates
- With over 12k dps, this class is considered one of the highest damage dealers in Arena
- Darkness (coupled with Cover of Darkness) and Reverse Magic makes team members harder to kill
- Capable of self healing

9. Death Knight
Death knights bring a large amount of DPS to the table in two forms, Frost and Unholy Of the three specs available, these two are the most highly recommended for PvP. Both bring the benefit of high health and armor, above average DPS output, and unique mobility buffs. Each spec however has their own added specialties.
- Both specs can self-heal with Death Strike
- Powerful AOE’s such as Empower Rune Weapon
- Powerful magic disruption tools like Anti-Magic Zone and Spell Eater
- Frost Spec:
- Massive cleave damage
- Powerful movement disruption

8. Druid
"We must protect the wilds."
Druids are by far one of the best all around characters to play. They are easily molded into whatever the group needs at the time, such as Heals or Dps. Each spec has the benefit of shapeshift, thus making the ever present mage’s polymorph null and void. Aside from that, druids in general have powerful defensive abilities such as Entangling Roots, and heals like Lifebloom. However, the two most played specs are Feral and Restoration, and for very different reasons.
- Powerful offensive and defensive abilities
- Can talent into affinities of each spec for added perks
- Can hide in play sight with Prowl, regardless of spec
- Feral:
- Strong burst damage with a 5pt Ferocious Bite
- Massive crowd control abilities in Mighty Bash and Maim
- Incarnation: King of the jungle is one of the strongest damage CD’s in the game

7. Rogue
The Rogue is played a lot like you’d expect to see a Ninja. Rogues are great for surveillance of the battlefield. Like scouts they are fantastic at finding out where and who everyone is. They are also capable of massive amounts of damage, with the luxury of picking and choosing their fights. Each spec brings an added bonus to the class, making it great for PvP.
- Rogue’s have a cheat death in Vanish, allowing them to get away if needed
- Powerful stuns
- Self heal with Crimson Vial
- Outlaw:
- Long range stun with Between the Eyes
- Can spec into cooldown reduction on major abilities
- Various incapacitators like Blinding Powder and Pistol Shot

6. Priest
Though a squishy class, the priest comes packed with an arsenal of versatile toolkits. Of the three possible specs to play, the two best ones are Discipline and Shadow. Go figure, being as they are both DPS. The Priest in general has a high mana pool, and moderate health. The armor class is the biggest weakness, but that can be overshadowed by the utilities it brings to the team.
- Powerful heals like Flash Heal and buffs like Power word: Shield
- Increased mobility with Leap of Faith
- Effective Crowd control abilities like Psychic Scream and Mind Control
- Discipline:
- Large output of consistent damage
- Powerful AOE DOT in Purge the Wicked
- Shadow:
- Mass Dispel and Void Shift
- Powerful silences

5. Warrior
No matter what RPG you play, there is always a warrior, and for good reason.. PvP in WoW is no different. Warriors are one of the best, and honestly easiest, classes to play in PvP. They have a high armor and health pool, and put out massive amounts of damage. Their tankiness and DPS output definitely earn their place on this list.
- Mobility boosts in Charge and Heroic Leap
- Fury and Arms both have great multi-target capabilities
- Powerful burst and cleave damage
- Arms:
- Powerful burst damage
- Massive debuffs like Overpower and Deep Wounds
- Fury:
- High sustained damage

4. Shaman
Shamans, like druids, are a great all around class to play. Not only are they fantastic for PvE, but they bring outstanding benefits to any PvP group. All three specs are good for PvP combat, but the two most played are Enhancement and Restoration.
- Mobility buffs make Shaman great for kiting
- Strong disruption toolkits
- Enhancement:
- Low skill cap is designed around dealing massive amounts of damage

3. Monk
When I think of a monk, I think of Po from Kungfu panda. To be honest, a pandaren monk would make that happen. Monks are one of the best Melee specs in the game. They are also ranked among the strongest heals. Not to mention they are super fun to play.
- Impeccable mobility
- Very versatile
- Capable of self and off heals
- Windwalker:
- Strong team utility in Tiger’s Lust
- Powerful burst damage in spells like Fists of Fury

- https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/character/us/tichondrius/blindgator
2. Warlock
Like Priest, Warlock has a low armor rating due to their squishyness. However they have something a Priest doesn’t, the ability to summon minions. Various different types of demons can be summoned to aid in combat, leading to a wide variety of damage classifications for the warlock.
- Multiple disruptive toolkits
- A tank like Demon, leading to a higher survivability by the warlock
- Powerful debuffs in curses
- Affliction:
- Multi-target DOT’s
- High spread damage

1. Paladin
“Vengeance cannot be a part of what we must do. If we allow our passions to turn to bloodlust, then we will become as vile as the orcs.”
To round out our list, I bring you the Paladin. Another of WoW’s well rounded characters. Much like a Druid, this class is capable of being anything the group needs at the time. Unlike a Druid however, this class has a higher armor pool due to Plate armor. Paladin is known to be aggressive at heals and potent with DPS.
- Mobility boosts in Divine Steed
- Various team buffs like Blessing of Protection
- Can self and off heal if needed
- Holy:
- Wide range of blessings and buffs
- Avenging Crusader
- Protection:
