His ninth and penultimate film, a take on the Manson Family Murders
Noted director Quentin Tarantino has announced his ninth and penultimate film. There have been rumours about the casting, direction and overall plot of the film. This article will try its best to sum up every rumour and fact circulating Tarantino’s newest epic.
So what exactly is Tarantino’s new film idea? Well, like he stated in an interview way back in May 2016, his next film would be a non-fiction film set in the early 1970s. The Manson Family were a cult of murderers, with a notable case being the kidnapping of Sharon Tate.
As mentioned in the previous paragraph, Tarantino’s newest film will revolve around the murder of Roman Polanski’s at the time wife, Sharon Tate. It is yet to be made clear whether or not the movie will be a dramatization of these events, or even feature the murder itself. There have been rumours that the plot could be separate character stories that all eventually link together.
At time of writing, there is no set date for the release of Tarantino’s next project, nor is there a name for this project. It is notable for being the first Tarantino project to be based on a real life event. Up to now, Quentin has only tackled fictional pieces and fiction only, so this change of pace may be a revelation or a hindrance.
There have been some rumours as to who may appear in the film. Most notably so far is the rumour that both Brad Pitt and Jennifer Lawrence have been in talks with Quentin Tarantino over starring roles in the film. Brad Pitt is slated to play family lawyer, Vincent Bugliosi, whereas Jennifer Lawrence is set to play Sharon Tate. There has been slight criticism to Lawrence’s involvement, with the sister of Sharon Tate stating she “isn’t pretty enough” to play the role. She has went on to apologise.
Margot Robbie has also been considered for the role, she starred as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad the past year. The big question really though is who will play Charles Manson? Nobody is in talks for the role yet, but rest assured there have been rumours again circulating for that role. Personally, I think Kurt Russell or Harvey Keitel will be starring in that role, given their links to Tarantino.
Samuel L. Jackson is also rumoured to be in talks with Tarantino, however the role he will play is as yet unclear. Not only are the roles unclear, but so is the title and release date. At this current moment in time there is no word on when the film will release, or even what it will be named.
Tarantino is certainly leaving movie goers in the dark on his latest project, and he has every reason to do so. If it’s anything like his former directed work, then rest assured this will once again be a ground breaking classic.
