Master the Skill Tree and Discover Your Playstyle
Master the Skill Tree and Discover Your Playstyle

If you played previous games in the franchise, you are already familiar with the skill tree. But this time, things become a little bit different. Since AC Origins came out, the game focuses more on combat, where abilities have a big impact on your gameplay.

Upgrading the right abilities will help you unlock your full potential in-game. You can choose and combine various abilities to make gameplay more interesting.

Skill Tree

You can upgrade up to 60 abilities through the game. To do that, you will need ability points. You will get ability points every time you level up. Since there are 40 levels, the rest of the ability points you can get by completing various missions.

To gain experience faster, you should explore every part of the map to find more secret locations and side quests. There is tons of stuff you can run into while roaming the map.

One more tip; Finding the ancient tablet in the tombs will grant you 1 ability point. Just follow the main objective inside the tomb and you will acquire more skills.

Skills are separated through the branches of the skill tree. You will have to upgrade skills in order, which means you can upgrade the following ability only if the previous one is already upgraded.

Not all of the abilities are equal. The cost can range from 1 to 3 ability points for upgrade. Abilities that cost 3 ability points tend to be more powerful. You can upgrade them at the end of every branch.

Abilities are divided into 3 main classes:

  • Hunter - Hunter abilities are mostly about boosting your archery skills, but also include your hawk, Senu which you can use for scouting and discovering danger. Senu is new in the franchise and he provides you with literal eagle vision. Since your character doesn’t have the skill of eagle vision, he uses his eagle instead. Hunter abilities can also boost assassination, but archery and Senu are your priorities. If you like more traditional Assassin’s Creed gameplay, this class is for you.

Hunter

  • Warrior -  This class is less stealthy and focuses more on combat. Warrior abilities will boost your melee weapon and health regeneration, which will help you to stay alive in fights. There are a couple of shield-based abilities as well. Other abilities you can use for boosting your overpower attacks.

Warrior

  • Seer - The seer category is a mixture of the other 2 categories including abilities for shop interaction and crafting. The fun part about this category is that you can unlock abilities from previous Assassin’s Creed games. Abilities for shop interaction will allow you to sell items at higher prices and will unlock rarer gear in shops.

Seer

Some of the abilities are used in multiple classes. You are not obligated to choose only one class since you can build all three. But that will require more time to finish one of the categories.

10. Hunter Ability: Chain Assassination

Chain Assassination is a crucial ability for stealth killing enemies. This ability allows you to assassinate the enemy and throw their weapon at a nearby target, killing them as well. This ability is very useful while sneaking by multiple guards.

9. Seer Ability: Backstore

Good gear is tough to find in the wild, but there is the ability to help you find rare and quality gear. Upgrading Backstore, you will find rare gear in shops which you wouldn’t be able to find without it. It will provide you with a better in-game experience since you can use better, powerful gear.

8. Warrior Ability: Charge Heavy Attack

This ability is one of the most important to upgrade. You can’t assassinate every enemy in-game and will eventually have to fight in combat. As you are reaching a higher level, you will encounter stronger enemies which you won’t be able to kill without this ability. It allows you to knock enemies down and deal more damage while they are on the ground.

7. Hunter Ability: Elite Ranger

Elite Ranger will allow you to do slow-motion mid-air bow shots. This is highly recommended for this category since you will be able to assassinate enemies while moving fast. Among other things, it looks super cool.

6. Warrior Ability: Parry

If you have equipped a shield, this will be a necessary ability for you. It allows you to defend yourself from enemy attacks and leaves them open for powerful counter-strike. You will need some practice since it requires good reflexes, but mastering this ability you will be able to fight more enemies.

5. Seer Ability: Buy Materials

If you are having a hard time crafting materials for your gear, you might find this ability useful. Crafting requires a lot of time and patience, the “Buy Materials” ability will be helpful since it speeds things up. You will be able to buy components from shops for upgrading your gear in no time.

4. Hunter Ability: Eagle Harass

Senu, the hawk, is a very important tool for moving around the map and tracking objectives. Upgrading this ability, he can also be used as an offensive tool since he will be able to distract and stun enemies, which is useful when you are outnumbered in combat.

3. Seer Ability: Sleep Dart

If you are in stealth mode and have to kill multiple enemies, an arrow in the head might not be the best solution, since it can alert enemies around your target. Sleep darts are the perfect solution for setting up surprise attacks on multiple enemies. But keep in mind that sleep dart lasts only last for a couple of seconds, so you will have to be quick with your intentions.

2. Warrior Ability: Attack and Push

Attack and push is a very useful ability since it allows you to hit an enemy and knock them on the ground. This gives you an opportunity to deal damage while they are vulnerable. This can also be useful for pushing enemies from cliffs killing them instantly.

1. Seer Ability: Dawn and Dusk

This should be your first ability, not just in this category, but overall in the game. This simple ability allows you to change time into dawn or dusk. This can help you to speed things up if necessary since in some cases missions are available only at a certain time of the day. Switching to night while hunting targets will also make it easier for you since they won’t be able to spot you so easily.
