[Top 10] Animal Crossing New Leaf Best Villagers

Animal Crossing New Leaf Best Villagers
The fun never ends as mayor in your very own personalized town!

With 333 villagers to choose from to reside in your town, how could you ever pick just 10?

Well with this Top 10 Animal Crossing New Leaf Best Villagers guide, it might just narrow it down!

You eagerly start up your new copy of Animal Crossing New Leaf, excited to meet your new adorable villagers and who are you greeted by? Rasher…A cranky, ugly, rude purple pig covered in fleas; whose house is literally a metal shack. You don’t understand!

Your friend had this exact game and had great villagers! Well, you have come to the right place. Here is a list of the top 10 Animal Crossing New Leaf villagers and how to obtain them in game.

10. Walker

All around good boy.

An underdog in the game and often glossed over (pun intended). He often reminds me of how I think my dog would act if he were a villager in a video game. He is such a cutie, just look at those floppy ears!

What Makes Walker Awesome

  • He is such an upbeat and friendly character. I often find him watering my flowers as well!
  • His lazy personality and skill of “clearing his plate” are such typical realistic dog traits.
  • Just an overall ‘good boy’!

How to Get Walker

  • Walker may be scanned in via his Series 1 amiibo card (card #100) through the magic lamp.
  • If the campsite public works project is built, Walker may randomly visit your town. Upon talking to him he eventually will ask to move into your town. (Must have less than 10 villagers)
  • In the event you play online and one of your friends have him in boxes, you may ask him to move to your town.
  • If you have under 10 villagers at any one time, he may randomly move in on his own.

9. Beau

This sweet dear just happens to be a deer! (sporting a christmas sweater I gifted him)

Beau is a fitting name for this handsome deer type villager. He has a lazy personality and can often be found in his home in his favorite sweater covered in, well…. deer. (not the sweater pictured above.)

What Makes Beau Awesome

  • Beau is what you imagine a deer character would act like and would fit in in the ever-popular nature themed town.
  • He is kindhearted and gets along with most villagers.
  • His house is full of earthy, fun, and unique furniture! If you’re lucky he just might offer you a piece!

How to Get Beau

  • Beau may be scanned in via his Series 2 amiibo card (card #167) through the magic lamp.
  • If the campsite public works project is built, Beau may randomly visit your town, upon talking to him he will eventually ask to move in. (Must have less than 10 villagers)
  • In the event you play online and one of your friends have him in boxes, you may ask him to move to your town.
  • If you have under 10 villagers, he may randomly move in on his own.

8. Epona

Scoot over Link! I'm Epona's new bff!

Yup, you heard me right. THE Epona! As in Link’s famed mount from the Zelda game series. If you have this villager, you will be the talk of the town!

 What Makes Epona Awesome

  • Epona is a hard to come by villager, seeing that most people do not have this amiibo.
  • When she is scanned in, she will show up in an RV selling a number of Zelda themed items and artifacts. Including the infamous moon from Majora’s Mask.
  • A Fun fact would be that Epona’s birthday pays homage to the release date of Ocarina of Time.

 How to Get Epona

Epona is a little trickier to move in and can only be obtained by using a Zelda amiibo. The following all work via the magic lamp to move them into your town.

  • The Sheik amiibo
  • The Ocarina of Time Link amiibo
  • Rider Link amiibo

7. Kabuki

Hi yah! Kabuki the sneaky beaky ninja cat!

Kabuki is a cat villager who’s bigger than life personality outweighs his cranky attitude. He brings a livelihood to any town. I mean just look at the silly guy!

What Makes Kabuki Awesome

  • He is modeled after tradition Japanese Kabuki actors right down to the detailed face paint.
  • Japanese themed homes and towns are all the rage and Kabuki’s home will fit right in! If you are hoping for a missing piece of Japanese furniture, there is a chance Kabuki will offer some right from his home.
  • Although Kabuki is quite cranky, he doesn’t feel nearly as mean as some of the other villagers. Instead his personality often makes me giggle rather than be mad at him.

How to Get Kabuki

  • Kabuki may be scanned in via his Series 1 amiibo card (card 037) through the magic lamp.
  • If the campsite public works project is built, Kabuki may randomly visit your town, upon talking to him he will eventually ask to move in. (Must have less than 10 villagers.)
  • In the event you play online and one of your friends have him in boxes, you may ask him to move to your town.
  • If you have under 10 villagers, he may randomly move in on his own.

 6. Drago

The one, the only dragon character, Drago!

Drago is loosely based off a Chinese Dragon and even though he is yet another lazy type villager, he wears what resembles a Kung-Fu style dragon shirt. They spared no attention to detail on this little guy!

What Makes Drago Awesome

  • Drago is the only dragon style villager. His base type is that of an alligator, but he has so much going on with his design that he looks like another species entirely.
  • His house is special too, in the way that it doesn’t look much like a home but a tasty Chinese restaurant!
  • Did I mention…. HE’S A DRAGON! Who doesn’t want a bad*** dragon in their town?

How to Get Drago

  • Drago may be scanned in via his Series 3 amiibo card (card #243) through the magic lamp.
  • If the campsite public works project is built, Drago may randomly visit your town, upon talking to him he will eventually ask to move in. (Must have less than 10 villagers)
  • In the even you play online and one of your friends have him in boxes, you may ask him to move to your town.
  • If you have under 10 villagers, he may randomly move in on his own.

5. Diana

Diana in her element riding the kawaii merry go-round on Animal Crossing Pocket Camp.

Diana is a pretty in pink pastel deer villager.  She has a snooty personality but her ability to be easy on the eyes gives her a pass. She is known for being a fan favorite!

 What Makes Diana Awesome

  • Diana will gossip to you about other villagers. In case you want to gossip about any of the other villagers not mentioned on this list!
  • Diana is a nod to the Roman goddess Diana which is why her house has such an elegant Roman feel to it.
  • Despite her girlish side her skill is actually playing poker!

How to Get Diana

  • Diana may be scanned in via his Series 1 amiibo card (card#089) through the magic lamp.
  • If the campsite public works project is built, Diana may randomly visit your town, upon talking to her she will eventually ask to move in. (Must have less than 10 villagers)
  • In the event you play online and one of your friends have her in boxes, you may ask her to move to your town.
  • If you have under 10 villagers, she may randomly move in on her own.

 4. Pietro

Our ever fashionable clown sheep!

Now this number 4 pick is quite controversial seeing that Pietro is styled after a clown. So, if you are someone who is afraid of clowns, he may not be your pick of villager. However, this little misunderstood sheep continues to be one of my favorite villagers!

What Makes Pietro Awesome

  • His house is a fun house. Like, literally, a fun house. It almost appears to be some sort of optical illusion.
  • He is the only true rainbow-colored villager. So, if you are looking for a pop of color or a big personality to add to your town, Pietro is your man!
  • If you are a female player, then Pietro may also occasionally flirt with you.You lucky girl!

How to Get Pietro

  • Pietro may be scanned in via his Series 4 amiibo card (card #356) through the magic lamp.
  • If the campsite public works project is built, Pietro may randomly visit your town, upon talking to him he will eventually ask to move in. (Must have less than 10 villagers.)
  • In the event you play online and one of your friends have him in boxes, you may ask him to move to your town.
  • If you have under 10 villagers, he may randomly move in on his own.

3. Ankha

All hail the Egyptian cat Ankha!

Ankha is one of the coolest styled characters in the game. She is a snooty cat villager and is a hands down favorite among the ACNL community.

 What Makes Ankha Awesome

  • Ankha makes sense historically. Her pharaoh design makes sense seeing that cats were worshiped as gods by Egyptians.
  • Her catchphrase “All that glitters is not gold” fits her personality to a T. Yet another reference to the wealth that Pharaohs had in that era.
  • Lastly, her house seems to have jumped straight out of an Indiana Jones movie. It resembles a tomb giving you a theme to play around with for your town.

How to Get Ankha

  • Ankha may be scanned in via her Series 2 amiibo card (card #188) through the magic lamp.
  • If the campsite public works project is built, Ankha may randomly visit your town, upon talking to her she will eventually ask to move in. (Must have less than 10 villagers)
  • In the event you play online and one of your friends have her in boxes, you may ask her to move to your town.
  • If you have under 10 villagers, she may randomly move in on her own.

 2. Merengue

The adorable shortcake rhino sporting a bakery apron from Animal Crossing Pocket Camp.

Merengue is a friendly rhino villager who you often will find wandering about your town watering your flower gardens.

What Makes Merengue Awesome

  • Merengue seems to have more of a backstory than any other character. Her dream is to be a chef and that is why she sports a chef coat.
  •
  • Her design, name and even catch phrase follow her theme as well. She has a strawberry as a horn and even has a dollop of whipped cream on her head. Her design as a strawberry shortcake goes even one step further by having her catch-phrase be “shortcake”!
  •
  • I always find she is such a pleasant character to talk to and never have I seen her upset or angry. She is such a joy to be around and do favors for!

How to Get Merengue

  •  Merengue may be scanned in via her Series 3 amiibo card (card #285) through the magic lamp.
  • If the campsite public works project is built, Merengue may randomly visit your town, upon talking to her she will eventually ask to move in. (Must have less than 10 villagers)
  • In the event you play online and one of your friends have her in boxes, you may ask her to move to your town.
  • If you have under 10 villagers, she may randomly move in on her own.

 1. Etoile

Etoile wishing us a good afternoon! What a doll!

And finally, we have come to our number one spot! Everyone’s favorite sheep, Etoile! She is a dreamy pastel sheep that has no business being that adorable.

 What Makes Etoile Awesome

  •  Etoile is another special amiibo character, however she is even a little rarer than even the Zelda amiibo villagers. She has come from the Sanrio amiibo set of cards sold exclusively from Japan. Better start searching Ebay!
  •  In addition, she goes hand in hand with the Little Twin Stars furniture collection. When she comes to town, she will bring her RV where this set of furniture may be purchased.
  • Etoile is not only one of the most sought-after villagers she is by far one of the most Kawaii/girly characters in game. An overall must have for any town.

How to Get Etoile

  •  Etoile as mentioned before is a bit harder to come by. I recommend purchasing her Sanrio S3 Little Twin Stars card via Ebay or Amazon. You would go ahead and scan the card through the magic lamp as you would any other amiibo. Keep in mind once you invite her, she is there to stay. Unless, you ask her to move out.

And, there you have it! A complete list of the top 10 villagers of Animal Crossing New Leaf and how to obtain them. So, worry not if you start out with a less than satisfactory bunch to start with, because in no time you may find one of these awesome villagers moving in! So keep an eye out and keep on playing!
