Top 10 Best DBZ Attacks We'll Never Forget

At one point or another either watching the anime, reading the manga, or playing the games we’ve become familiar with the surplus of attacks used by Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, and everyone else from the popular Shonen series.

Over the numerous attacks that are used throughout the show’s run, right now we are going over the ones that we haven't forgotten.

Charge up Makankosappo, and let’s blast through, the Top 10 Best DBZ Attacks We’ll Never Forget!

10. Present For You

[Hercule using his attack in an attempt to destroy Majin Buu.]

Probably the most comical attack on this list is Hercule’s, Present For You. This is the attack that he used on Majin Buu in a failed attempt to destroy him in the Buu Arc. Present For You is Hercule’s last resort move, where he hands his opponent a Game Poy distracting them with it.

Once they are successfully distracted, he detonates the handheld console destroying his opponent (super OP in the games). I recall getting a good laugh from this attack and remember pretending to do it to my friends on the playground and using it in the games (especially the ones you can mix and match moves).

Why Present For You is Awesome:

  • Hercule is genuinely trying his best.
  • It's comically dumb (but that’s what makes it great).
  • It’s iconically Dragon Ball (goofy like the original series).
  • BONUS: Hella OP in the game.

9. Galick Gun

[Fed up with Goku dodging his attacks, Vegeta charges his planet-destroying beam in an attempt to obliterate Goku along with the earth.]

An iconic move from an unforgettably iconic fight. Next on our list is Vegeta’s Galick Gun. First used on Goku during their initial fight in the Saiyan Saga, Galick Gun is just one attack out of many in The Prince’s arsenal.

In an attempt to destroy Goku (and the earth along with him) Vegeta used his Galick Gun. To his surprise it was nearly identical to Goku’s Kaioken x4 Kamehameha in power.

Why Galick Gun is Awesome:

“Prepare yourself for Oblivion!”

Raw. Power.

Beam struggles will always be cool.

8. Kaioken x20 Kamehameha

[In the last-ditch effort to vanquish Freiza, Goku powers up to Kaioken x20 and unleashes a massive Kamehameha Wave.]

Goku’s Kaioken x20 Kamehameha against Frieza during the Frieza Saga was Goku’s “last resort” against the Galactic Tyrant. After some of his best efforts proved futile, nothing Goku seemed to do worked on Frieza.

Frieza then reveals to Goku that he’s only using 50% of his full power, deterring him momentarily Goku refuses to give up. Stricken with an idea to power up past his limit to Kaioken x20 and hit Frieza with a massive Kamehameha, ultimately it doesn’t work and Frieza lives.

What Makes Kaioken x20 Kamehameha Awesome:

The desperation, raw power, and might just gives you chills.

Goku’s speech.

The DBZ Kai version. (It adds so much to what was already pretty awesome.)

7. Big Bang Attack

[Surprising everyone for achieving Super Saiyan, Vegeta takes it 10 steps further by beating the blood and oil out of Android 19.]

Next on our list, we have Vegeta’s Big Bang Attack that he used on Android 19 during the Android Saga. After Android 19 mopped the floor with Goku due to his heart condition, Vegeta stepped in and dealt the rotund android a swift and entertaining beating.

Attempting to run away in cowardice after getting his hands ripped off by Vegeta, No.19 is completely obliterated by Vegeta’s Big Bang Attack.

What Makes Big Bang Attack Awesome:

Watching Vegeta pummel No.19 after he beat Goku (of all people) was wild to see, and then the satisfaction of his quick dispatch with such a cool attack is what makes it so awesome!

It has a kickass name.

Whenever I think of this attack I imagine Vegeta’s cocky grin.

6. Saibaman Bomb

[What seemed like an equal fight with Yamcha as the victor, the Saibaman had one last trick up its sleeve.]

More effective than it is flashy, Saibaman Bomb was used on Yamcha during the Saiyan Saga. To “persuade” the Z Fighters into revealing the location of the Dragon Balls, Nappa planted 6 Saibamen, creatures biotechnologically engineered by the Saiyans.

After what seemed like a swift victory for Yamcha against a Saibaman, the creature attached itself to Yamcha and used its Saibaman Bomb, effectively killing Yamcha.

What Makes Saibaman Bomb Awesome:

  • Birthed “Getting Yamcha’d”
  • 20+ years later and it’s still funny.
  • It’s been made into a MEME, parodied, and referenced to HFIL.

5. Final Flash

[Vegeta was expecting a challenge, but Perfect Cell was too strong. Vegeta blasts half of Cell away, but due to Cell’s regeneration, it’s useless.]

In number the 5 spot we have Vegeta’s Final Flash attack he used on Perfect Cell during the Perfect Cell Saga. One of the best and most badass moves The Prince has to offer.

Vegeta uses it after stupidly allowing Semi-Perfect Cell to absorb Android 18 and become Perfect Cell, a form stronger than Vegeta.

What Makes Final Flash Awesome:

  • The charge up.
  • Cell realizing how boned he was at the last second.
  • Bruce Falconer’s score (Vegeta’s Final Flash)

4. Special Beam Cannon

[In the first major fights of the series, Raditz is killed by Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon.]

Piccolo’s Special Beam Cannon (Makankosappo) is  next on our list and one of my personal favorites. Piccolo used Special Beam Cannon on Raditz and indirectly/directly Goku during the Raditz Saga.

Taken aback by the raw power of Gohan’s rage against Raditz, Goku takes the opportunity to get behind Raditz and hold him in place so Piccolo can use his attack. Completely outclassed, and with nothing seeming to work Piccolo and Goku had no other options left. Using his Special Beam Cannon Piccolo boars a hole through both Raditz and Goku killing them both

What Makes Special Beam Cannon Awesome:

  • Killed half of the Saiyan Race
  • Aside from being such a kickass move, it’s an iconic part of the series.
  • Its original name (Makankosappo) sounds so freakin’ cool.
  • One of the coolest looking attacks in the series. (You’ll know it when you see it.)

3. Father-Son Kamehameha

[Gohan using all his remaining energy  fires off one last attack, the Father-Son Kamehameha at Perfect Cell completely vaporizing him.]

Gohan’s Father-Son Kamehameha (One-Handed Kamehameha) he used to defeat Perfect Cell takes 3rd spot. At the climax of the Cell Games Saga, broken, down a dad (debatable), and an arm Gohan is opposed by the reformed Perfect Cell (thanks Piccolo’s genes). With nothing left to lose, Gohan fires off a one-handed Kamehameha in a final attempt to defeat Cell.

All seems lost until Goku reaches out to his son from beyond with an inspiring message and a hand (heh), with that the Cell shattering Father-Son Kamehameha was unleashed destroying the perfect foe down to the very last cell.

What Makes Father-Son Kamehameha Awesome:

  • Seriously tugs on those feels, and gives you chills.
  • It’s a freakin’ one-handed Kamehameha!
  • Marks the end of beam struggles in Z (What a note to go out on!).

[After efforts by both Goku and Vegeta, it wasn’t until one last attempt by Hercule for Goku to receive the energy from everyone on Earth to create a Spirit Bomb massive enough to destroy Kid Buu.]

The Kid Buu Saga is a bit of a “So, so.” in the DBZ community, but one thing that can be agreed on by most is how awesome Goku’s Spirit Bomb against Kid Buu is. Coming in our second-place spot, The Spirit Bomb has been used plenty of times before in the series, but there is an entirely different weight to this instance.

Goku and Vegeta plead with the people of Earth to lend Goku their energy to create a Spirit Bomb big enough to defeat Kid Buu, but the people of Earth were reluctant.

It wasn’t until Hercule, who had already gained the people’s trust, spoke out to everyone asking for their help. After receiving enough energy, Goku hurls the massive ball at Buu, obliterating him for good.

What Makes The Spirit Bomb Awesome:

  • Compared to other Spirit Bombs it blows them all away.
  • Satan! Satan! Satan!
  • Goku’s final words to Kid Buu, and everyone cheering him on. Chills.

1. Final Explosion

[Vegeta sacrifices himself to destroy Majin Buu.]

Finally, in the number 1 spot, we have Majin Vegeta’s Final Explosion that he used in the Majin Buu Saga, against Majin Buu. Majin Buu is revived through the spent energy of Goku and Majin Vegeta’s fight.  Feeling remorseful for rendering Goku unconscious, while recollecting all the times Goku saved the earth, Majin Vegeta plans to take on Majin Buu head-on.

Majin Vegeta dealt massive damage to Majin Buu, even using his Final Impact attack, but Buu’s regeneration made his efforts futile. Majin Buu, now totally pissed, beats the tar out of Vegeta. Trunks attempted to help his father, but it was to no avail.

With no other option left, for the sake of his family, Majin Vegeta sacrifices himself by using Final Explosion in efforts to destroy Majin Buu. Sadly, his effort was in vain due to Majin Buu’s regeneration.

What Makes Final Explosion Awesome:

  • It’s another name for, “Complete Character Arc.”
  • “Trunks, Bulma, I do this for you. And yes, even for you, Kakarot.” Chills dude.
  • It has so much weight, and for a character like Vegeta, the attack is so impactful.

That wraps up, Top 10 Best DBZ Attacks We’ll Never Forget. I based the scale for these attacks around what stuck with me through all my years rewatching the series. Maybe there are some attacks on this list you enjoyed, or maybe all of them! Honestly, I just hoped you enjoyed reading through it. I’m Sym, and I’ll catch you guys later, stay you!
