The Spirit is a killer that not only relies on her visuals but also on her hearing, as with her main power of phasing, she is able to track down survivors efficiently and very fast, just like if you were being chased by the ghost.

Nonetheless, in this article, we are going to show you the best 25 tips & tricks you should know for the Spirit so that you could have successful gameplay with an increased chance of winning the game.

25. Dealing with the survivor's double backing

Double backing happens when survivors move back across the scratch marks during your phasing power, which would confuse the killer thinking that the survivor has gone somewhere, but instead, went to its original spot.

One of the most common ways to deal with the survivor's double backing is by listening to the footsteps, and other objects such as grass to predict where they are going.

24. Knowledge of her past & present nerfs

One of the important notes to have is the idea of her past powers, and the changes of the powers she has now, also known as nerfs, which are the powers that have been degraded by dead by daylight.

Currently, when standing in front of the pallet, you are not able to fake the phasing as you used to, as survivors can now hear the directional phasing, therefore knowing when the killer is coming to the survivor, and where the Spirit is coming from.

Therefore when looking at gameplays, it is best to look at gameplays that date from the end of the year 2021, where this is the timeline where all those changes have been made.

23. Locate survivors much more easily with the help of their sounds

One of the main strategies for finding survivors easily is by listening to them, as usually when the survivors are injured, they would give out this moaning sound, which can be heard easily if listened to carefully.

Nevertheless, due to the nerfs, the good news is that the survivor's common perk to avoiding being found by killers 'iron will' has been nerfed to only 75% maximum, making it 'not impossible for the killer to find and track; however, much harder.

22. Practise playing the Spirit

One of the most crucial parts of learning how to play the Spirit is by practising. Practising makes perfect. There is no tip or trick that will beat that, as it is all about the experience, and learning how to use specific moves against the survivor.

Another way of practising is by watching Youtube videos, from the best players, and then trying to repeat those methods and then mastering them to become an even better killer.

21. The use of the Senko Hanabi add-on

A great add-on to use when it comes to looping and mind-gaming, allowing you to block vaults, and then trap the survivor, enabling you to go for an easy hit.

This is an add-on that is especially useful including areas such as the killer shack.

20. The use of the Furin very rare add-on

It is a very good add-on when it comes to pressuring survivors across the map, where this add-on allows for your phasing sound to be heard by everybody on the map, causing stress for the survivors and being more observant with less progress.

It is overall a universal perk that allows it to work in a variety of situations.

19. The Iridescent Mother-Daughter Ring

The Iridescent Mother-Daughter Ring is an add-on that has both its advantages and disadvantages and is very useful depending on the situation and the survivor's perks. What the add-on does is that you can move 40% faster during the phase, however, you would not be able to see scratch marks, and therefore, only rely on the sound of the survivors.

A good perk combination that works good with this add-on, is the perk 'Stridor', allowing you to hear the survivors more clearly and loudly.

18. Understanding Spirit's main unique perks

The Spirit's main perks are quite powerful for a killer, and they are very often used on other killers as well, particularly Haunted ground with other hexes, where once a survivor cleanses a hex, they might cleanse haunted ground and therefore become exposed and get one-hit by the killer.

Therefore, it is very important to understand the perks, especially from the Survivors' point of view, to see and predict what they would do in terms of the perks' outcome.

17. Have the opportunity to mind game with her 'fake phasing'

As shown in the video clip, the killer has used mind games to fake her phasing, just by standing still, to look as if she was phasing.

Therefore this allowed the other survivor to fall into the trap and therefore vault the killer's shack enabling the killer to go for an easy hit.

16. Be aware of the Survivor's Decisive Strike

One of the things you should be aware of when playing the killer, mostly any killer, is the fact of survivors using a decisive strike. So when a survivor is unhooked, she is able to use her decisive strike to stun the killer once hit and picked up again.

One of the signs showing that the survivors might have the perk decisive is by going into a locker, which would at the same time avoid being slugged by the killer if the killer knew.

15. Practise the Spirit without add-ons

One of the most important tips is to practise, practise, practise playing the Spirit without the add-ons. It is the best technique to use if you want to learn pretty much any killer, especially the difficult ones such as the Nurse or the Spirit.

"It is a tip that will help you understand the killer quite well."

14. Move around with Spirit, use her speed as an advantage

You should move around a lot more with the Spirit, more than playing any other killer. This is a good way to put pressure on the survivors and increase the chances of finding a survivor.

As shown in the clip, you should be observant of objects such as the progression of generators, chest opening, etc, which you should then predict the position of the survivor whether close or not.

13. Go around buildings "the long way" when necessary

One of the greatest movements you could use when playing this spirit is to use her speed & phasing as an advantage and go around loops or buildings, or anything that will be unpredictable for the survivor.

As shown in the clip, Spirit was able to go around and therefore catch Jake by surprise.

12. Use the advantage of phasing to avoid pallet camping

You can use the advantage of the Spirit's phasing to avoid the Survivor's pallet camping, and when reached in time, they will not be able to drop the pallet in time and therefore get hit by the Spirit, as shown in the clip of the video.

11. Use both visual and audio properties

It is important as when playing Spirit, you should be able to use both visual and audio properties so that when chasing survivors, you could even mix around when you stop hearing a survivor, you should focus on the movement of objects such as grass, defining which direction the Survivor is moving in.

Nonetheless, having audio is very important as you could hear things that you wouldn't visually see such as survivors who might be hiding behind you.

10. Spread out the attacking of Survivors

Spreading out the chasing and hitting of survivors is generally important, as seen in the clip when you see another survivor nearby, you should hit her as well if necessary and not just focus on one survivor, as it would create less pressure on the rest of the survivors, and therefore be able to gen rush.

Nonetheless, with the advantage of her speed after hitting a different survivor, you could easily catch up on the previous survivor and therefore get your hit.

9. Let the Survivor make the first move

Letting the survivor make the first move is critically important when learning how to do mind games. It will give you a particular advantage which will help you predict the survivors' next move.

This can be an example of standing in front of the pallet, and if the survivor doesn't move you can later phase when the survivor doesn't see it and get a hit.

8. Start Slugging from 2-3 generators

One of the tips that Jaae has mentioned in this video is the idea of slugging survivors from around two to three generators, which is a tactic I agree with because this is where the most amount of pressure is going to happen.

Allowing to slug survivors will make other survivors come off generators just to help the slugged survivors as they feel comfortable with the game, and therefore you will also be able to get a hit on them as well.

7. Fake phase one direction and go the other

As to the nerfing update of the spirit, one of the most common successful mind games to do with her phasing is faking her directional phasing, where you fake phase in one direction and then quickly go in the other direction to throw the survivors off, which is especially effective in small pallet loops.

6. Use generally only 'half of your phase'

When playing the Spirit, you would generally want to use only half of your phase, this will ensure that you would have your phase ready when you find a survivor in the meantime.

5. Hearing footsteps on the Backwater Swamp

You can hear footsteps very effectively on maps such as the Backwater Swamp, as the mud has a very loud and distinctive sound, which will be much easier for you to hear the survivor when running or even walking.

4. Use or Buy Good Headphones

Well...as you can imagine, to have solid gameplay of the spirit just like any other killer, you should have good headphones which will help you to hear the sounds on the map. Do not just use the speaker from the laptop or PC, because it just won't work as you will not hear the specific surroundings unless you have a 360-degree surrounding system wrapped around you.

3. The advantage of the perk 'Starstruck'

One of the most effective perks to use for the Spirit would be the perk 'starstruck', which will allow you to create an exposed area for the survivors around the area which you have picked up the survivor, therefore using the advantage of Spirit's speed and momentum to catch up and get the one-hit.

2.  The advantage of the perk 'Hex: Devour Hope'

Hex: Devour Hope is a great perk to use on the Spirit, as not only do you have the ability to kill survivors by hand after reaching 5 tokens, but also with the advantage of the Spirit's speed, you will be able to monitor the totems and patrol the hex, making it nearly difficult for the survivors to initially cleanse the hex.

1. The trio combination of Devour Hope, Starstruck and Undying

With this trio combination of the perks as presented in the video, it is presented as a very powerful combination where you have the ability to use devour hope as long as possible with the help of undying, where if devour was to be cleansed it can be automatically transferred onto another totem, with the help of dying. Nevertheless, with Starstruck, it is advantageous, especially with the extra speed boost from devour hope, which will allow you to catch up on survivors.

It is a great build combination that is perfect for beginners making the game flawless.
