[Top 5] DbD Best Wraith Builds That Are Strong

One of the classics with an easy power to learn and hone, the Wraith is a killer with both mobility and chase potential perfect for players of any level. The Wraith’s wailing bell allows him to cloak and uncloak at will, increasing his speed and sometimes helping get the jump on Survivors. His simple basekit makes for high versatility when it comes to builds, so here are a few of his best!

1. All-Star Wraith

A build dedicated to kicking generators just like the good old days, this utilizes some of the best gen kicking perks and combines them with a very powerful addon. “Shadow Dance” - Blood functions as a substitute Enduring with additional benefits and saves you a perk slot! Also, Dragon’s Grip is typically a difficult perk to run in general builds, but as long as you pay attention to it in this one, you’ll definitely get some value from it.

Perks:

  • Call of Brine: After performing the Damage Generator Action on a Generator, Call of Brine activates for 60 seconds. The damaged Generator regresses at 150/175/200% of the normal Regression speed and its Aura is highlighted to you in yellow. Receive a Loud Noise Notification each time a Survivor hits a Good Skill Check on the affected Generator.
  • Overcharge: Performing the Damage Generator Action on a Generator applies Overcharge: The next Survivor interacting with that Generator is faced with a difficult Skill Check. Failing the Skill Check results in an immediate Progression loss of 3/4/5%. Succeeding the Skill Check grants no bonus Progression, but prevents the Generator from exploding. After Overcharge is applied to a Generator, the following effect applies: Increases the Regression speed from 75% to 200% over the next 30 seconds.
  • Dragon’s Grip Performing the Damage Generator Action on a Generator activates Dragon's Grip for the next 30 seconds: The first Survivor interacting with the damaged Generator will scream, revealing their location for 4 seconds, and suffer from the Exposed Status Effect for 60 seconds. Dragon's Grip has a cool-down of 120/100/80 seconds.
  • Oppression: Performing the Damage Generator Action on a Generator activates Oppression: Causes up to 3 additional Generators to also start regressing. Triggers a difficult Skill Check on all Survivors currently repairing one of those Generators. Oppression has a cool-down of 120/100/80 seconds.

Addons:

  • “Shadow Dance” - Blood: Increases the Action speeds for breaking Breakable Walls and Pallets, damaging Generators, and vaulting Windows by +60% while cloaked
  • “Swift Hunt” - Blood:Reduces Uncloaking time by -12%

This build is great at adapting a strategy from the past into something new and incredibly effective! The Wraith can easily traverse between generators, making him one of the few killers that can swiftly pull this build off. So if you’re looking for a chokehold on gen progress, consider this build!

2. Stealth mode

A more spiffy Wraith in his valentines outfit. Fun fact, this cosmetic was inspired by the play Phantom of the Opera

For those wishing to stick to the Wraith’s sense for stealth, this build lives up to it. The combined perks and addons makes for a strategy of spooking Survivors and quickly downing them before they can get much distance. I recommend bringing an offering for an indoor map if you plan on being as stealthy as possible!

Perks:

  • Save the Best for Last: Each time you hit a Survivor other than your Obsession with a Basic Attack, Save the Best for Last gains 1 Token, up to a maximum of 8 Tokens: Gain a stack-able 5% Cool-down reduction on successful attacks per Token, up to a maximum of 40%. Each time you hit your Obsession with a Basic Attack, Save the Best for Last loses 4/3/2 Tokens. When the Obsession is sacrificed or killed, you can neither gain nor lose any more Tokens.
  • Fearmonger: Whenever a Survivor is repairing a Generator, they suffer from the Blindness and Exhausted Status Effects. If the Survivor is already Exhausted, their Status Effect's timer will be paused. The Status Effect lingers for 3/4/5 seconds after the Survivor stops repairing.
  • I’m All Ears: Any Survivor performing a rushed action within 48 meters of your location has their Aura revealed to you for 6 seconds. I'm All Ears can only be triggered once every 60/50/40 seconds.
  • Deadlock: Whenever a Generator is completed, The Entity blocks the Generator with the most progression for 20/25/30 seconds. The Aura of the blocked Generator is revealed to you in white during this time.

Addons:

  • Bone Clapper: Survivors are unable to discern distance and direction of the Wailing Bell's tolls
  • “The Ghost” - Soot: Continues to suppress the Terror Radius and the Red Stain of The Wraith for 6 seconds after uncloaking

Not only is this build effective for quick downs, but it can also be used for generator pressure. Deadlock works fine as a passive perk, but the combination of Fearmonger and the addons make it so that Survivors can be easily pushed off of gens as they scramble to get away.

3. Heartbreaker

This cosemtic set sent fans theorizing like wild if the Nurse and Wraith might be having a deadly affair?

Inspired by Youtuber RedsGamingGears, this build is meant to take advantage of Wraith’s capable “Hit-And-Run” playstyle. Due to his high mobility, it’s easy for this killer to get hits quickly, on both Survivors and generators.

  • Pop Goes the Weasel: After hooking a Survivor, Pop Goes the Weasel activates for the next 35/40/45 seconds: Performing the Damage Generator Action on a Generator instantly regresses it by -20% of its current Progression, after which normal Regression applies.
  • Thanatophobia Each injured, dying, or hooked Survivor afflicts Survivors with a stack-able 1/1.5/2% Action Speed penalty to Repairing, Sabotaging, and Cleansing, up to a maximum of 4/6/8%. Increases the Action Speed penalty by a further 12%, if there are 4 Survivors, who are either injured, dying, or hooked at the same time.
  • Sloppy Butcher: Wounds inflicted by Basic Attacks cause Survivors to suffer from the Haemorrhage and Mangled Status Effect: Increases the Bleeding frequency by 50/75/100%. Increases the Regression rate at which partial Healing Progression is lost through Haemorrhage by 15/20/25%. Both Status Effects are removed once the Survivor is fully healed.

Addons:

  • “Blind Warrior” - White: Survivors hit with a Surprise Attack suffer from the Mangled and Haemorrhage Status Effects until fully healed.
  • “Shadow Dance” - Blood: Increases the Action speeds for breaking Breakable Walls and Pallets, damaging Generators, and vaulting Windows by +60% while cloaked.

The addons compliment the perks very well in this build, ensuring you won’t be wasting your time when injuring Survivors or kicking gens! The slowdown added by both Thanatophobia and Sloppy Butcher are a plus as well.

4. Hooked On Gens

In game render of Wraith's blighted skin mixed with his beloved candle skin

For players who love pursuing generators just as much as Survivors, here’s a build for you! The addition of Coup de Grâce acts as a saving throw for chases, and Make Your Choice helps with snowballing downs. The addon included for aura reading is the one you’ll be leaning on the most for generator pressure.

Perks:

  • Dead Man’s Switch: After hooking a Survivor, Dead Man's Switch activates for the next 20/25/30 seconds: While activated, any Survivor that stops repairing a Generator before it is fully repaired causes The Entity to block the Generator until Dead Man's Switch's effect ends. Affected Generators are highlighted by a white Aura.
  • Make Your Choice: Each time a Survivor is rescued from a Hook when you are at least 32 meters away, Make Your Choice activates: The Rescuer screams and suffers from the Exposed Status Effect for the next 40/50/60 seconds. Make Your Choice has a cooldown of 40/50/60 seconds.
  • Coup de Grâce: Each time a Generator is completed, Coup de Grâce grows in power and gains 1 Token. Consume 1 Token to increase the distance of your next Lunge Attack by 70/75/80%.
  • Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance: At the start of the Trial, 4 random Hooks are changed into Scourge Hooks: The Auras of Scourge Hooks are revealed to you in white. Each time a Survivor is hooked on a Scourge Hook, the following effects apply: The Generator with the most Progression explodes, instantly losing 9/12/15% of its Progression and starting to regress. Survivors repairing that Generator will scream, but not reveal their location.

Addons:

  • “All Seeing” - Spirit: When cloaked, the intensity of the Aura of Generators reveal their Repair progression.
  • “Windstorm” - Blood: Increases Cloaked Movement Speed by +9%.

This build relies heavily on mobility and quick decisions, so if you want to feel like you’re everywhere on the map at once, this is a good choice! “All Seeing” - Spirit works for both information and pressure if you target your generators and players correctly.

5. Aura Lover

Wraith's unlockable skin from DbD's fifth anniversary, how the time flies!

Inspired by infamous DbD Youtuber Otzdarva, this build rewards hooks with plenty of information and generator slowdown. The two perks Barbecue and Lethal help in quickly starting chases, and the addons aid in catching up to Survivors straight out of uncloaking.

Perks:

  • Barbecue & Chilli: After hooking a Survivor, all Survivors who are at least 60/50/40 meters away from that Hook have their Aura revealed to you for 4 seconds.
  • Lethal Pursuer: At the start of the Trial, the Auras of all Survivors are revealed to you for 7/8/9 seconds. Extends the duration of a Survivor's Aura being revealed to you by +2 seconds. Lethal Pursuer benefits from its own effect.
  • Jolt: When you put a Survivor into the Dying State with your Basic Attack, all Generators within 32 meters of you instantly explode and start regressing. Applies an immediate 6/7/8% Progression penalty.

Addons:

  • “Windstorm” - Blood: Increases Cloaked Movement Speed by +9%
  • “Swift Hunt” - Blood: Reduces Uncloaking time by -12%

This build helps a bit in every area you need as Killer, with chase support, slowdown and aura reading to keep you on track! The addons are a deadly combination if you use your wailing bell mid-chase as well, so if you haven’t utilized that strategy as Wraith yet, use it with these!
