[Top 3] Halo Infinite Best FOV For An Advantage

Best FOV (field of view) setting for Halo Infinite

In a first-person-shooter game like Halo Infinite, vision is everything. Having good visibility of what’s happening around you allows you to be aware and ready to react to enemies. And nothing is more influential to visibility than the Field of View (FOV) setting. This controls how wide and tall your character’s vision is. You might be thinking that the higher your FOV the better, because obviously you want to be seeing as much of the battlefield as possible, right? But it’s a bit more complicated than that. In this article, we’ll explain what FOV you should be choosing and why.

This setting can be found in the Video section of your Halo Infinite menu.

3. Low FOV (65-75)

Solves the Following Problems: Aiming is too difficult, game feels too hectic

This FOV range is good for players that are new to Halo or FPS games. It offers you the narrowest range of vision, making your targets appear bigger and easier to aim at. If you play at a slower pace and are good at always keeping the action in front of you, or if you’re new to FPS games and are struggling with your aim, then this FOV could be a good fit. Because enemies take up a wider portion on your screen, it makes your aim assist feel stronger and more forgiving.

However, having a narrow range of vision also means that you won’t be able to see as much of the action. This is a pretty huge tradeoff, as you’re losing valuable information by not seeing nearly as much as a player with a higher FOV setting. But, again, this range is a good place to start for new players.

Advantages of Low FOV:

  • Easier to aim, especially if using a controller
  • Game feels slower, which could be comforting for new players

2. High FOV (115-120)

An example of high FOV

Solves the Following Problems: Want the game to feel faster and smoother, awareness issues from using low FOV, mouse and keyboard users that want maximum vision

This FOV range gives players the maximum amount of information. You’ll have the widest perspective, allowing you to see as much of the action as possible. However, if you’re playing with a controller, this range comes with a significant tradeoff. Since the enemy player models are comparatively smaller on your screen, it makes the game’s aim assist feel weaker.

This can put you at a significant disadvantage in 1-on-1 gunfights, since most players will be playing with a lower FOV and in turn will have an easier time aiming than you. If you’re on controller, only consider playing in this FOV range if you’re an extremely fast-paced player and are constantly moving around the map.

That kind of play style might make it worth the tradeoff of having weaker aim assist, since if you’re constantly moving around the map you’ll be getting the maximum amount of information for you and your team.

If you’re playing with a mouse and keyboard then this range is probably best for you. Having weaker aim assist isn’t a factor for these players. So although the player models will still be smaller, it won’t have as much of an effect on your aim.

Advantages of High FOV:

  • Maximum amount of information on what’s going on around you
  • Visually, the game feels much faster and more fluid
  • Best for players that use a mouse and keyboard

1. Medium FOV (90-105)

Solves the Following Problems: Awareness issues from using low FOV, or aiming issues from using high FOV

This is the sweet spot for the FOV setting. It offers a decently wide perspective without making the enemy players appear too small. This range is what the vast majority of competitive controller players prefer.

It offers benefits from both ends of the FOV range, while not having any significant disadvantages. You’ll be able to see a good amount of the action while still keeping your aim assist strong.

Advantages of Medium FOV:

  • Good middleground between high and low FOV ranges
  • Best FOV range for controller players
  • Gives wide perspective of the battlefield without sacrificing too much aim-assist strength
