25 Best Hearthstone Tips and Strategies Guide For Beginners

Hearthstone Tips and Tricks
Getting into Hearthstone can be tough for beginners, after all, it's almost 10 years old. But with these tips and tricks, you can go from newbie to pro in no time.

Hearthstone is all about strategies and tactics. But with thousands of cards and decks, it can definitely feel a bit overwhelming if you’re just starting out.

Luckily, if you take things one step at a time, it’s not that hard to understand all the basic aspects of the game. And eventually, utilize all the techniques that the most advanced players use.

So without further ado, here’s all the tips you should follow on your journey to Hearthstone success.

For beginner players:

  • DON’T skip the tutorial. There’s an option to do this, but if you’re new to the game, you’ll definitely want to play through it to learn the basics.
  • If you’d like, play a few games against the AI to get a feel for the game at first.
  • Pick one class you enjoy and try to build a deck around that class. You'll learn more about what that class is good at and what it struggles with.
  • Make sure you're always trying to control the board by trading your minions for your opponent's minions. Think about the long-term value of your plays.
  • Try to plan out your next few turns and think about what your opponent might do in response.
  • Card advantage is important, so try to make trades that give you more value than your opponent.
  • Use The Coin to your advantage, but don't waste it on small plays that don't help you much. Like using your Hero Power on Turn 1.
  • Don't be afraid to try out different decks and strategies to see what you enjoy. But don’t be in too much of a hurry to spend what little dust and resources you have immediately.
  • Play Arena mode to practice building a deck and learn more about the cards available in the game.
  • Watch experienced players on streams or videos to learn from them and see how they think about the game.
  • Don't get too discouraged if you go on a losing streak. Take breaks if you need to. Remember: it’s just meant to be a game.

For intermediate players:

  • Maximize your rewards by opening packs of each Standard expansion to get the guaranteed legendary. You’re guaranteed a Legendary card in the first 10.
  • Learn about the different deck types (aggro, control, combo etc.) and build decks around those types to have a better chance of winning.
  • Experiment with different card combos and synergies to make your decks more unique.
  • Don't be afraid to take risks, but understand that RNG is a part of the game, and sometimes, luck may just not be on your side.
  • Be mindful of your resources (cards, mana, etc.) and try to save them for when they'll be most effective.
  • Complete your daily and weekly quests, and try to reach Level 100 on the Rewards Track each expansion.
  • Try to keep an eye out on the “meta”, to see which decks and strategies are working the best.
  • But also, don’t be too scared to try our “homebrew” decks which include your own strategies and gameplans.
  • Pay attention to what cards your opponent has played and try to predict what they might do next.

For advanced players:

  • It’s a good idea to start saving up your gold long before a new expansion is announced. That way, you can get the most of your collection on launch day.
  • Always remain up-to-date on the latest buffs and nerfs. Nerfed cards reward their full disenchant cost and are a great way to increase your dust pool.
  • Check out online websites like HSReplay. They provide analytics and stats for each deck that can help you in playing your chosen deck even better.
  • It’s alright to spend money on the game, but be careful with your investments. Don’t just buy everything in the store.
  • Always log in during seasonal events for extra rewards and cards.
