Trying to figure out which f2p osrs weapon is best for you can be a laborious affair. Luckily for you, I’ve slogged through piles of information so that you don’t have to! Now take this list and go have some fun, you little rascal!
10. Hill Giant Club (BIS crush weapon)

fantastic for bonking
Okay sure, the Hill Giant Club may not be the most aesthetically pleasing of the f2p weapons. But it’s a really big stick, and really big sticks are fun! This weapon provides the highest crush bonus of any f2p weapon and requires 40 attack to equip, it’s also tied with the Rune 2h sword for highest strength bonus.
You’re going to be seeing a trend of rune weapons on this list. I promise I’m not biased!
Okay well maybe I’m a little biased, and that’s because rune is some of the best that f2p has to offer. The Rune 2h Sword is the strongest 2h sword in f2p. This weapon provides the highest slash bonus of any f2p weapon and requires 40 attack to equip, it’s also tied with the Hill Giant Club for the highest strength bonus.
Arguably the best melee weapon available to the f2p community, the rune scimitar has a lot to offer, especially if you live the lawless, straight-edge hating life of a curved blade user. It requires 40 attack and is revered for its high attack speed and high damage stats. But seriously, this will be the last rune item on the list.
Psyke! We have one more rune item for you on this list: the Rune Battleaxe. It requires 40 attack to wield and is the strongest f2p battleaxe available (and 3rd strongest battleaxe overall). This weapon may not be as fast as the rune scimitar, but it hits like a dang truck of a 1-hander.
6. Swift Blade (training for strength and defence pures)

like a thousand little papercuts
We’ve got a bit of a weird one here, the Swift Blade definitely has its place (as long as that “place” isn’t in the hands of any normal player) in osrs as it fills more of a niche role. But dang it’s good at that role!
The swift blade has no stat requirements, which actually makes it the best-in-slot training weapon for strength and defence pures. Oh, and the other thing: it has 0 stat bonuses, but it is incredibly quick.
Another interesting one, the Silverlight is obtained during the “Demon Slayer” quest and has no stat requirements. While it has stats comparable to the steel longsword, it’s got a neat little quirk that earns the sword its spot on this list.
When fighting demons, the Silverlight’s maximum hit is increased by 60%, making it great if you ever wanted to roleplay as the medieval version of Doomguy [insert heavy metal lute].
Sure, there isn’t too much competition when it comes to f2p 1h ranged weapons. But if there was, the Phoenix Crossbow would certainly take the cake as the best weapon in the obscure category!
The weapon can be obtained in the quest “Shield of Arrav” and has no requirements. It can only fire bronze bolts, as bronze is the only bolt type available to f2p members. It’s superior to the Bronze Crossbow because it’s lighter in weight, meaning if you really wanted to, you could probably throw it further than a regular 1h crossbow.
Simply put, the Maple Shortbow is the best 2h ranged weapon in f2p. There’s not much more to say. It’s statistically superior to its big brother, the Maple Longbow, because it has the same ranged bonus but higher attack speed. I feel kind of bad for the Maple Longbow- compared to the Maple Shortbow, it’s about as useless as a ropeless skipping rope.
The Adamant Arrow is the best f2p ammo in osrs and can only be used by the Maple Bows in f2p (but please don’t use it on the Maple Longbow, we’ve talked about this my, dude). Other than that, they look cool, so at least your opponent will have something pretty sticking out of their corpse.
There’s a fair few staffs (or is it staves? Bah! Never mind) in osrs, and they all grant an infinite amount of their corresponding rune. “So why the Staff of Fire?” I hear you ask; it’s because the strongest f2p spell (fire blast) costs 5 fire runes, 4 air runes and 1 death rune. The fact that fire and air runes are the same price (and that the spell requires a higher number of fire runes) means the Staff of Fire is the most economical option for casting the strongest f2p spell- making it the best staff!
