Vertical attackers, as the term implies, excel in attacking the objective spot from a vertical position. Most of the time it’s done from above because the height advantage does help, but there are also attackers that can harass the defenders from below.
Vertical plays are a huge part in Siege’s gameplay because it creates a lot of trouble for the defenders below and it’s a great way to “soften up” the objective spot before a final push from the attackers. That’s because a lot of defender gadgets are usually destroyed during a vertical attack, and some defenders even get killed in the process.
10. IQ (Intel, Support)
IQ may not be the first operator that Siege players think of when they hear the term vertical attackers, and that’s why she’s in the last place in this list. However, she belongs to this list because when she does perform a vertical play, she’s able to neutralize a lot of defender electronic utilities, and sometimes she’d even be able to get kills. That’s mostly because of her special gadget, the Electronics Detector, which allows her to detect defender electronic gadgets in real time, and it just so happens that a lot of defenders carry their electronic gadgets with them.
Since most objective spots have wooden floors on or above them, IQ can use her Electronics Detector to shoot defender gadgets through those wooden floors. And as touched on above, there would be times when IQ would be able to detect a defender’s real time position when the electronic gadget in their person is active. Mostly, that would be the case when they’re using their observation tool, or when Dokkaebi is calling them with her Logic Bomb. When that happens, IQ can easily shoot them through the wooden floors on or above the objective spot with her Electronics Detector guiding her aim.
IQ Strengths:
- Her Electronics Detector can detect enemy electronics in real time, so when she’s performing a vertical play, she’ll be able to disable many enemy electronic gadgets by shooting them through the wooden floor on or above the objective spot.
- There would be a lot of times when IQ can detect the real time position of the enemies with her Electronics Detector when the gadgets in their person are active, and she can use that to frag them through wooden floors or walls.
- Another reason why IQ is a great vertical attacker is because she has access to three breach charges which she can use to destroy large portions of the wooden floor above the objective spot.
- She can use her P12 handgun while her Electronics Detector is active and that allows her to not only shoot defender electronic gadgets she’s detected but also to defend herself.

9. Gridlock (Support, Map Control)
Like IQ above, Gridlock is one of the most underrated vertical attackers in Siege. She’s mostly used for flank watch and backline support, and that makes sense because her Trax Stinger special gadget is great for preventing roamers from hitting the attacking team from the sides or from the back. But Gridlock also excels in vertical plays because she can protect herself and her teammates that are also performing a vertical attack using her Trax Stingers. Gridlock is a great backup to Fuze or Sledge since it’ll be hard for roamers to frag them due to her Trax Stingers.
With that said, Gridlock herself is capable of performing vertical attacks, and that’s because she can equip the Super Shorty shotgun as her secondary weapon. With the Super Shorty, she can keep destroying the wooden floor on or above the objective spot which will expose the defenders. After that, she can use her fully automatic primary weapon to shoot at the defenders below or above. What’s more is that she now has frag grenades in her arsenal and frag grenades are great for vertical plays since they can be thrown between the metal beams on the wooden floor on or above the objective spot.
Gridlock Strengths:
- Gridlock can perform a vertical play from above or below the objective spot because of her Super Shorty Shotgun which she can use to destroy the wooden floor on or above the objective spot.
- She’s also an excellent support for other vertical attackers because she can litter the flanking spots with her Trax Stingers that will damage and slow enemies that step onto them.
- One of the most recent changes in Siege is that Gridlock now has frag grenades in her arsenal and they’re great for vertical plays because they can be thrown in between the metal beams of the wooden floor on or above the objective spot
- Her M249 light machine gun Saw variant is a great gun for vertical plays because despite being a light machine gun, it can be reloaded fast and has a huge magazine capacity for harassing enemies from above or below.

8. Grim (Front Line, Map Control)
Grim is one of the best vertical attackers because his special gadget, the Kawan Hive Launcher, can be shot in between the metal beams of the wooden floor above the objective spot. The Kawan Hive Launcher can fire five Kawan Hives and each one of them can populate a large area with nanobots that resemble bees. Defenders who touch those nanobots will get pinged in real time for several seconds and that’s why defenders will do their best to avoid an area with Grim’s Kawan Hives. The thing is, Grim’s Kawan Hives have a large radius.
That makes Grim not just a great intel gatherer but also a great area-denial operator. His Kawan Hives can also be used to rework enemy movements as they can really limit the areas in the objective spot where the defenders can move. Another reason why Grim is a great vertical attacker is because he can equip hard breach charges as his secondary gadget. That’ll allow him to breach reinforced hatches, creating a path of attack from above. If he chooses to run with them, he can also destroy portions of the wooden floor above the objective spot using his Bailiff 410 shotgun revolver and breach charges.
Grim Strengths:
- He can use his Bailiff 410 revolver shotgun and breach charges to destroy portions of the wooden floor above the objective spot, and that can expose the defenders below, making them vulnerable from above.
- When he’s destroyed the portions of the wooden floor above the objective spot, he can deploy his Kawan Hives from above and litter the objective spot with his nanobots that will ping defenders that touch them
- He can also run with the hard breach charges as his secondary gadget which will allow him to destroy reinforced hatches above the objective spot, creating another path of attack for the attackers.
- He has an excellent primary weapon in the 552 Commando which is one of the guns in Siege with the highest DPS rating. Its recoil is also very manageable so it’s a convenient gun to use.

7. Ace (Breach, Anti-Gadget)
Ace is great for breaching the walls of the objective spot that connects to the outside, but he’s also a great vertical attacker, especially when he only needs to use one of his special gadgets, the S.E.L.M.A. Aqua Breacher, to breach the objective spot’s wall. That means he can use the remaining two Selmas for breaching a reinforced hatch on the objective spot, which would be great for the attackers as it’ll open another path of attack for them, and it will also greatly unsettle the defenders as they’ll have to watch out for another spot.
What’s more is that Ace can also bring in three breach charges per round. Even one breach charge can destroy a large portion of the wooden floor above the objective spot, so three of them can really expose the defenders below. With the hatch above the objective spot destroyed and large portions of the wooden floor above it are also wrecked, the defenders will have a very limited space to move as they know that many areas of the objective spot will be exposed from above. This is one of the reasons why Ace has one of the highest win rates in Siege.
Ace Strengths:
- With two of his S.E.L.M.A. Aqua Breachers, Ace can destroy a reinforced hatch above the objective spot and that will open another path of attack for the attackers and defenders will always have to watch it.
- Ace has three breach charges which are great for destroying large portions of the wooden floor above the objective spot as that will greatly expose the defenders below
- Ace’s AK-12 assault rifle has a great DPS rating which means it can make short work of enemies, and that’s great for a vertical attack as Ace will have to shoot enemies in between metal beams.

6. Ash (Breach, Front Line)
Ash may not have any hard breach capabilities, but when it comes to soft breaching, she’s one of the best. That also usually translates to vertical play capabilities because as mentioned before, most objective spots in Siege have wooden floors on or above them, and wooden floors in Siege are destructible. And with Ash’s special gadget, the Breaching Rounds, she can destroy large portions of that wooden floor, which will expose the defenders on the objective spot from below or above, and it can also destroy many defender gadgets.
For example, if the objective spot is on a higher floor and the attackers need to breach its walls but it’s being electrocuted by Bandit’s Shock Wires, if they’re on a wooden floor, Ash can go below it and blow them up with her Breaching Rounds. This makes Ash one of the best hard breach enablers in the game. Even if the gadget that’s electrocuting the walls is Kaid’s Electroclaw, Ash destroying the wooden floor could allow her to see the Electroclaw and shoot it. On top of that, Ash can also bring three breach charges which she can also use to destroy the wooden floor above the objective spot.
Ash Strengths:
- Ash’s special gadget, the Breaching Rounds, are great for destroying large portions of the wooden floor on or above the objective spot, as one blow from it causes a lot of destruction.
- Since her Breaching Rounds are shot through her M120 Crem which is like a grenade launcher, she can perform vertical plays from below, which are great for disabling defender gadgets.
- Ash can also bring with her three breach charges per round and they’re great for destroying large portions of the wooden floor above the objective spot which exposes defenders and their gadgets
- She’s a 3-speed rating operator which is great for vertical plays because it allows her to catch up to her teammates easily after she’s harassed the defenders from above.

5. Hibana (Breach, Front Line)
If the objective spot is on the basement or on a lower floor, there would most likely be hatches that if breached, would open up alternative paths of attack for the attacking team, and when it comes to breaching hatches, Hibana is the best. That’s because of her special gadget, the X-Kairos, which shoots breaching pellets. She has 18 X-Kairos pellets in total and they can be deployed in groups of 6, 4, or 2. that allows Hibana to be more versatile when it comes to their usage, because different surfaces require different numbers of X-Kairos to breach.
For example, a reinforced hatch needs 4 X-Kairos to be destroyed while an unreinforced one only takes 2. Because of that, Hibana can partition her X-Kairos according to the surfaces she intends to breach and that allows her to conserve more pellets for other surfaces. With Hibana on the attacking team, even if there are four reinforced hatches above the objective spot, they can all be breached. That makes Hibana a very effective vertical attacker. On top of that, she also has access to the breach charges which she can use to destroy large portions of the wooden floor above the objective spot.
Hibana Strengths:
- Hibana specializes in breaching hatches which is great for a vertical attack, because it only takes 4 X-Kairos pellets to breach a reinforced hatch above the objective spot.
- Hibana can partition her X-Kairos pellets into groups of 6, 4, and 2, when it comes to their deployment, and that allows her to conserve more pellets for other surfaces that need to be breached.
- Hibana also has access to three breach charges as her generic gadget, and they’re great for destroying large portions of the wooden floor above the objective spot which will expose the defenders below.
- Her Type-89 assault rifle has a fast rate of fire, high damage, decent recoil, and is compatible with high-powered scopes, making it a great weapon for vertical plays as well as general conditions.

4. Ram (Breach)
Ram definitely belongs to this list. She’s actually pretty OP when it comes to vertical plays. As mentioned in a lot of the entries above, destroying the wooden floor above the objective spot is a big part of vertical attacks because it exposes the objective spot below. That way, the attackers above will be able to shoot at the defenders below and even if they manage to find places to hide, the areas that they can go to will be severely limited as they know that once they get out of cover, they’ll be exposing themselves to the attackers above.
And Ram specializes in destroying the wooden floor above objective spots. That’s because her special gadget, the Bu-Gi Auto Breacher, destroys breakable surfaces that are under it while it’s running. So, all Ram has to do is to deploy her Bu-Gi Auto Breacher and let it run on the wooden floor that she intends to destroy. The scary part about her is that she has three Bu-Gi Auto Breachers, and they do more than just destroy breakable surfaces below them. They also destroy any breakable surfaces or objects that they ram onto like unreinforced walls or deployable shields.
Ram Strengths:
- Ram is great for a vertical attack mainly because her Bu-Gi Auto Breacher destroys breakable surfaces under it while it’s running, and with three of them, Ram can destroy so many parts of the wooden floor above objective spots
- Ram also has access to the ITA12S shotgun as her secondary weapon and that’ll allow her to destroy the wooden floor on the objective spot from below if she needs to disable their gadgets from that position.
- Ram can also bring two hard breach charges per round and that will allow her to destroy two reinforced hatches above the objective spot which will open up more paths of attack for the attackers.
- Ram can attach high powered scopes like the scope 1.5x and 2.0x to her R4-C assault rifle which makes her offensive capabilities really powerful as the R4-C has high damage and fast rate of fire.

3. Sledge (Breach, Anti-Gadget)
Sledge’s special gadget is called the Tactical Breaching Hammer. It’s probably the simplest special gadget in Siege. It’s a sledgehammer, and that’s it. But its simplicity is also one of the reasons why it’s so troublesome. That’s because it’s basically just a huge sledgehammer that Sledge can use again and again to destroy the wooden floor above the objective spot. While it will be unusable after 25 hits, most of the time it still feels like it has unlimited uses, because it would be very rare for a user to use up all of those 25 hits.
So with Sledge performing a vertical play, it’s a guarantee that the wooden floor above the objective spot will get destroyed again and again unless he’s stopped. What makes him even more dangerous as a vertical attacker is that he can bring two frag grenades per round. With that, he can simply throw his frag grenades in between the metal beams of the destroyed wooden floors towards the direction of the defenders. If he doesn’t have a good handle on enemy positions, he can also destroy their gadgets from above using his frag grenades.
Sledge Strengths:
- With his special gadget, the Tactical Breaching Hammer, he’d be able to keep destroying the wooden floor above the objective spot which is essential for a vertical play as it’ll expose the objective spot from above
- Technically, the Tactical Breaching Hammer would start being unusable after 25 hits, but realistically, most of the time a player uses Sledge, they won’t reach that 25-hit limit.
- Sledge can bring two frag grenades per round and it’s useful for killing defenders or destroying their gadgets from above after he’s destroyed large portions of the wooden floor above the objective spot.
- Sledge can get from one room to another very quickly because he can create entry points on soft walls or hatches with his Tactical Breaching Hammer.

2. Buck (Breach, Support)
Like Sledge and Ram above, Buck is one of the operators that can really keep on destroying the wooden floor above the objective spot. That is because of his special gadget, the Skeleton Key, which allows him to switch the firing mode of his primary weapon into its under-barrel shotgun. This underbarrel shotgun is called the SK 4-12 and is one of the most destructive shotguns in the game. And because Buck can simply change his primary weapon into a shotgun with one click of the special gadget button, he can also perform vertical attacks from below.
Buck harassing defenders from below by destroying the wooden floor of the objective spot is one of the best ways to forcefully displace a defender. It’s a really good strat for preventing Mira from manning her Black Mirror on the aviator room when the map is Villa. Another thing that makes Buck a great vertical attacker is his access to the hard breach charges. With them as his secondary gadget, he’ll be able to destroy two reinforced hatches above the objective spot which will also allow him to go down to it fast for a final push with his teammates.
Buck Strengths:
- He can keep destroying large parts of the wooden floor on or above the objective spot with his SK 4-12 underbarrel shotgun which he can switch to from his primary weapon with just one click of the special gadget button
- Because the weapon he uses for a vertical play is a shotgun, he can do it from below, which is really useful when the objective spot is on the highest floor.
- He can bring two hard breach charges per round and it’s a great utility for a vertical play because it allows him to destroy the reinforced hatches above the objective spot
- He also has access to the gonne-6 hand cannon as his secondary weapon which is very useful for disabling a pesky bulletproof defender gadget like Maestro’s Evil Eye or Melusi’s Banshee.
Best Loadout for Buck:

1. Fuze (Anti-Gadget)
Fuze specializes in vertical attacks from above, and that’s because of his special gadget, the Cluster Charge. He has four Cluster Charges and each of them releases five sub-grenades once they’re deployed. Those sub-grenades are released on the other side of the surface that the Cluster Charge was deployed to, so when Fuze deploys them on the wooden floor above the objective spot, it will rain down explosives after explosives onto the defenders and their gadgets. This makes Fuze one of the best anti-gadget operators as well.
The range of the explosions from Fuze Cluster Charges can be quite deceiving, as sometimes when you think you’re out of range, you could still get badly damaged. And because he also has access to the breach charges, Fuze also possesses the ability to destroy large portions of the wooden floor above the objective spot in order to expose defenders from above. If the player chooses to, Fuze can also run with the hard breach charges which will allow him to destroy the reinforced hatches above the objective spot. Effectively creating an alternative path of attack for the attacking team.
Fuze Strengths:
- From above the objective spot, he can drop explosives after explosives towards the defenders and their gadgets with the use of his special gadget, the Cluster Charge, which releases five sub grenades each.
- He has four Cluster Charges and with proper team coordination, he can also use them to rework enemy movements and force them out of their cover and into the other attacker’s line of sight.
- Fuze can run with the breach charges and they’re very useful for destroying large portions of the wooden floor above the objective spot, allowing Fuze and his teammates to frag defenders from above.
- Fuze can also run with the hard breach charges instead and with that, he’ll be able to destroy two reinforced hatches, giving the attackers new paths of attack.
