Top 10 Smash Ultimate Best FFA Characters

10) Mario

Always a fun pick, he never fails to bring enjoyment out of an FFA match.

The mascot of Nintendo, Mario makes it as number 10 due to his skill level being fairly easy. He has easy combos to learn and has enough attacks to send opponents flying at decent percentages. With enough skill, Mario can be a deadly fighter.

Why he is great.

  • Easy combos
  • Balanced
  • Iconic

9) Meta Knight

After all these years, he is still a fun pick.

The cheap high tier character in the past has come a long way since his first rendition in the smash bros series. More balanced these days but that shouldn’t make you ignore him. His move-set is still viable as ever. He has great recovery and can take on many opponents with his Mach Tornado.

Why he is great.

  • Acquires multiple hits
  • Great recovery
  • Great smash attacks
  • Great combos

8) R.O.B

The fighter has diverse moves that you can constantly keep your opponents guessing.

A personal favorite of mines, his Arm Rotor attack can hit multiple enemies at the same time while also deflecting projectiles. He can also send opponents out of the stage easily by using his down smash. Again hitting multiple opponents, as he spins his arms on the ground.

Why he is great.

  • Multiple hits
  • Unpredictable
  • Fun Moveset
  • Great recovery
  • Plant grab

7) Ike

Whether swole or in his youth, Ike slashes his way through opponents.

Ike is one of the power characters this roster has to offer. A bit slow, but his side smash lets him travel across the stage quickly while also making it a recovery. He is able to deal with the speedy characters with his counter, making them think twice bum-rushing him.

Why he is great.

  • Decent recovery
  • Powerful smash attacks
  • Powerful neutral special
  • Counter

6) Gannondorf

Another one of my personal favorites, Gannon really packs the heat.

If you get caught in one of his blows, it can be crucial. Although one of the slowest characters, when faced in FFA matches he can definitely shine. He is like a train smashing through all his enemies with his powerful moves.

Why he is great.

  • Powerful smash attacks
  • Powerful specials
  • Great forward smash length

5) Cloud

The poster boy for the Final Fantasy series.

Cloud is given his mighty buster sword that can deal a lot of damage as well as have great reach. Once his Limit is fully charged, Cloud can unleash the Finishing Touch, which hits surrounding enemies and can even instantly KO them if their percentage is high enough.

Why he is great.

  • Instant K.O
  • Great range
  • Great combos
  • Great dodging
  • Great smash attacks

4) Captain Falcon

The O.G mascot of the smash franchise in my opinion.

Falcon is what made the series enjoyable in the first place. His move-set is fast and powerful, making anyone who picks him feel like a superhero. With each entry, his move-set has been tweaked until we have this near-perfect fighter.

Why he is great.

  • Great move-set
  • Great speed
  • Powerful smash attacks
  • Great recovery
  • Iconic neutral special

3) Snake

The king has finally returned.

It’s nice to see such a fan loved character return, but with a more refined move-set. Snake is the master at zoning, due to his projectile focused gameplay. He can shoot missiles and set traps, which can be hard following in a chaotic FFA match.

Why he is great.

  • Great recovery
  • Great projectiles
  • Great set-ups
  • Great smash attacks

2) Zero Suit Samus

From a humble beginning, Zero Suit Samus has a  permanent place on many lists' top spots.

Quick and hard-hitting, Samus brings the fight towards any opponent. She has the ability to stomp out her opponents with her jet boots, even meteor smashing them when they are in mid-air. If all else fails, she can use her stun gun and whip to put the hurt from afar.

Why she is great.

  • Great recovery
  • Great combos
  • Great air game
  • Decent smash attacks
  • Great speed

1) Pikachu

The lovable marketable creature is the clear victor.

The number 1 spot has to go to Pikachu. He is a top tier character for a reason, he is easy to play but can offer much more when he is mastered. When your opponents surround him, Pikachu is able to unleash his thunderbolt, striking everyone in the vicinity. He is also one of the quickest characters in the game, creating damage as he goes.

Why it is great.

  • Great speed
  • Powerful down special
  • Great recovery
  • Easy to play
  • Great smash attacks
  • Iconic
