Top 5 Best Ways To Make Money In Stardew Valley

Best Ways To Make Money In Stardew Valley
Money at the end of the day.

Why is money important in stardew valley?

I want to start by saying that money drives this entire game. You can’t upgrade your farm, you can't buy crops, you can't upgrade your tools, you actually cannot do anything without money in Stardew.

The point of the game is to make the best farm you can by the end of year three and you will not be able to do that without a little jingle in your pocket.

What are some of the best things you can do with money in stardew valley?

Always choose wisely what you do with your money. It takes a while to start bringing in a steady high profit, and you  want to make sure you have enough money to survive the winter as well.

Upgrading tools, buying better crops, and creating the farm of your dreams are a few things you can do with money which I enjoy the most. You can also go get divorced or turn your children into bats if you’re into that sort of thing.

How to make money in Stardew Valley (5 best ways):

5. Artisan Goods

A better look at a lot of the available artisan goods you can craft.

What is this method and how much can it make?

At first, I wasn’t too sure about artisan goods. It can take a while for them to process and sometimes I can’t be bothered due to my entire lack of patience. However, after looking into it more, I wanted to bang my head against the wall for not doing it sooner. On a good day I have made anywhere from 10,000 to 100,000  simply from my artisan goods.

How do I make artisan goods?

You must be farming. You either need fruits and veggies or animal products. I recommend having both.

To make artisan goods out of fruits and veggies you need to take them to the keg to make wine, milk to the cheese press to make cheese, wool to the loom to make cloth, eggs to the mayonnaise machine for mayonnaise, truffles to the oil maker for oil, and any fruits or veggies to the preserve bin to make jelly or pickles.

You can also age some products by throwing them in casks. Casks are unlocked when you entirely upgrade your house to hold a basement level since casks can only be placed in the basement of your home. Again, the basement cost a large amount of money to build so I’m not lying when I say money drives this game.

4. Farming

A farming layout that focuses on farming.

What is this method and how much can it make?

This is the main method to make money in the entire game and I can’t stress the importance of it enough. The entire focus of Stardew Valley is to farm and you will make more money farming than any other method simply because you have to do it. Always plant lots of crops and nurture them like they’re actual human babies. Depending on the quality of your crops you can make anywhere from 1000 gold to 100000 gold every few days.

How do I farm?

I always start off by saying the layout is extremely important. Make it neat and functional so that it’s easy to see and get to everything on the farm.

Make sprinklers when you can. You will end up wasting energy you can be using to do other things by spending half of your day watering your crops.

Always have at least 30 to 50 crops planted minimum. This is going to be the way you keep a steady and fairly high profit in. This is again where sprinklers come in handy because watering this many crops a day will wear your farmer out.

Lastly, fertilize your crops when you can. The higher quality the crop the more money it's going to wield on sell day.

3.  Foraging

A lot of the avaialble foragble items you can have, even in the winter!

What is this method and how much can I make using it?

This method is one that I feel is mostly overlooked in the game. All year around, different seasons bring different foragable items that can be sold or used to craft certain things such as fertilizer. From foraging alone I’ve not only saved a large amount of gold using it to craft, but I’ve brought in a steady daily profit of anywhere from 100 gold to 5000 gold simply from foraging all areas of the map. Added bonus, it doesn’t waste any energy

How do I forage and make it profitable?

To forage you must run around every area of the map and look for different crops sitting in the ground. Everyday new crops spawn, so this is one of the best ways to make a daily profit.

Use them to craft. This is profitable in the way that it saves you money in the long run and who doesn’t love saving money? Crazy people, that’s who.

Always unlock the beach bridge early in the game. It cost 450 wood and opens an area of the map that I’ve found to hold the biggest amount of beach foragables. It’s worth it, trust me.

2. Mining

As much as it hurts to say it, selling ore in the beginning of the game is a good way to make easy profit.

What is this method and why is it profitable?

Early on in the game, this method can be the most profitable for you, seeing as it takes a while to get things moving. It makes me cringe a little to think about selling ore and makes me cringe even more when I actually do it, but sometimes you have to bite the bullet and do it anyways. This method entails going down into the mines and mining for ore or monster parts, then selling them at the end of the day. I’ve made anywhere from 1000 to 5000 gold in a day of mining.

How do I implement this method?

Going down in the mines can be not only frustrating but a little scary early on in the game. Again, just bite the bullet, go down, and get to mining. Watch your energy however, because this is a huge energy waster.

This method can also save you time and money as ore can  and must be used to craft multiple things for your farm that you will need. It’s profitable in the sense of saving you tons of sweet sweet gold.

Selling ore sucks. I said it. However it is a good way to make money at the end of the day early on in the game. If you spend a lot of time in the mines and sell your ore and monster parts at the end of the day you’re sure to turn a steady profit.

1. Fishing

One of the most profitable and fun ways to make money in the game.

What is this method and why is it profitable?

This is my absolute favorite method every time I play.. After finishing your day on the farm I recommend spending the rest of it fishing. Fishing can be hard in the beginning but as you level up it becomes much easier to catch the slimy miscreants. I’ve used this method every time I start a new farm and even in the later years. I always make anywhere from 1500 to 5000 in gold daily depending on how much time I spend fishing.

How do I use this method?

Never give up. I always hear about how many people struggle with the fishing mini game and end up hating fishing and never doing it. I was one of those people at first , but I soldiered on and it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the game. Just keep fishing.

Upgrade your rod as soon you can. Having a rod that allows you to attach bait as well as lures helps you catch fish way faster than with the standard rod and the faster you catch fish the more money you make at the end of the day.

Learn which fish make you the most money and fish in those areas. Different fish are worth different amounts of money and depend on the size of said fish you catch. Learn them, memorize them, dominate them.

If you’re struggling with inventory space early on, always eat any seaweed or joja colas you catch. This will open up inventory space and help keep your energy up so you can continue to fish.
