And 2 planes only, because if I had to describe my favorite planes I would have to write a goddamn essay. Anyways, I will quickly analyze and describe the best 2 planes from each tier, explain how they work, what they excel at, and why you should grind for them. 

Also, what are American planes good at? Well, the USA is one of the best, IF not the best faction in the world of War Thunder. Their aircraft are usually well-armed, sometimes sturdy, and enjoyable to fly with. Anyways, let’s start with the first tier:

Tier 1 

The best plane: Thach's F2A-1

This feller on the other hand is equipped with .50cal machine guns that can quickly shred to bits pretty much… everything. It’s advisable to use this plane for boom and zoom tactics, it can reach the same speed as the Rassmussen. It can even land on carriers if it’s essential!

The second best plane: Rasmussen's P-36A

A plane that can reach the speed of around 530 KM/H if upgraded and is overall enjoyable to play - because of its maneuverability and the ability to outrun plenty of planes at this tier. It climbs altitude very well and can be used for plenty of playstyles - as an interceptor, ambusher, or just focusing on ground targets.

Tier 2

The best plane: XP-55 

Even though it’s shaped like a boomerang it does not come back. The max speed of this bad boy is 628 km/h and it takes 29 seconds to turn. It has a decent battle rating and the guns deal a ton of damage to the enemy.

The second best plane: A-20G-25 

This plane was in the game from the start and it withstood the test of time. This offensive aircraft can strafe the ground targets and has great engagement while dog fighting. It’s equipped with 2 x 12.7mm machine guns and 1 machine gun in the below deck. The only downside to this great aircraft is the energy consumption so make sure that you don’t run out.

Tier 3

The best plane: XP-50

This is a fighter plane that did not get its name from Windows XP. It’s one of the best fighter planes in his category and no other plane stands to match. It has a max speed of 680 km/h and it only takes 19 seconds to turn fully. It comes equipped with fast-firing machine guns but makes sure to not waste your ammo quickly.

The second best plane: PB4Y-2 

This is a heavy bomber but not the one that was used in Japan. Don’t worry. The main specialty of this aircraft is to take a huge dump of explosive diarrhea on the enemy HQ. The max speed is 402 km/h so it will take some time to get to the place to take a dump.

Tier 4

The best plane: F7F-3 

This bad boy also has a nickname and it’s the “Tigercat”. It’s a two-engine fighter airplane and you already know that it’s going to be fast. It tops the speed of 708 km/h and it has 4 x 20mm 3M machine guns. I hope now you realize why it’s named the “Tigercat”.

The second best plane: B-29A-BN

This plane’s nickname is “Superfortress” and I think that says everything about it. This is a bomber plane with a battle rating of 7. This is a flying fortress in the air. It will take a whole platoon of aircraft to take this bad boy down not only that but it has a top speed of 640. So when this plane has a destination you know that it will get destroyed. A fun fact about the plane is that it was introduced at the end of WW2.

Tier 5

The best plane: F-84F

This is a striker aircraft that shoots rockets instead of bullets. Because let’s be real bullets are for pansies only. It carries a heavy load of rockets and high explosives. This aircraft can quickly get rid of any rodents that are lurking on the map.

The second best plane: F-89D 

Now we are leaving the World War era of aircraft so let’s start it off with a jet fighter. Let’s start with the speed because you will be blown away by how fast this bad boy can go. The top speed is 1,022 km/h and it was introduced in the Night Update to replace the Black Widow night fighter. Which it certainly did.

Tier 6

The best plane: F-5C

Now we are onto the iconic aircraft of the present. Yes, we are talking about the F line of aircraft from the USA faction. This is one of the best jet fighters in the game currently. It holds a top speed of 1,444 km/h and it carries a heavy load of freedom. When you’re flying this aircraft you can’t wait to drop your load and release your freedom onto the enemy.

The second best plane: AV-8C 

This plane looks like a tuna can. It’s too chubby to be a striker aircraft in my opinion but holy moly does it do its job correctly. This plane has everything in its arsenal ranging from machine guns to HE bombs. This plane is also great when dog fighting so doesn’t be afraid to engage in some fights in the air.

Tier 7 

The best plane: A-7E

This bad boy right here is a striker aircraft that’s specifically meant to bomb the hell out of enemy positions. It’s very effective against ground targets. It is a bit slow but that’s understandable because it’s carrying more than its weight. Once you drop your load at the target you can expect to go a bit faster. I recommend getting a homie to protect you while you’re flying towards your destination.

The second best plane: F-14A Early

What would be the most iconic American jet fighter? The one that we always see in movies and that’s the F-14. Same as his younger cousin this plane is the fastest in its category and tops a speed of an unbelievable 2,221 km/h. Not only does it go fast as Sonic but it also carries a ton of high-explosive rockets.
