Rank I planes are for newbs and beginners in War Thunder. If you’re playing in the UK, Japan, or Germany, your planes will most likely be extremely maneuvrable - UK and Germany have decent firepower most of the time, Japan on the other hand, not so much. We will quickly describe some of my favorite planes in the first rank and rank them from 5 to 1!

5. Sea Gladiator Mk I

My first plane evar.

I remember playing those, they’d always somehow sponge bullets and fly with half of a wing and its biggest strength is the fact that it can outmaneuver most planes and destroy other planes with ease, due to powerful Browning machine guns. Terrible climb rate tho!

Why this plane is awesome:

• OP machine guns(tracer rounds too)
• Biplane with flaps
• Good maneuverability

4. Ki-27 otsu

*Pearl Harbor flashbacks*

This is probably one of the best planes in terms of maneuverability, it’s known as a biplane hunter due to its armaments and can easily outrun other planes on the battlefield. Even though it gets easily destroyed due to its mediocre armor, you can always just fly away from the combat area and come back when things calm down. Dope!

Why this plane is awesome:

• Superb maneuverability
• Awesome climb rate
• For a rank 1 plane, it offers excellent speed

3. I-153 M-62 Chaika

Czajnik.

A soviet plane with a unique name, well, it’s capable of outmaneuvering most planes on the battlefield. It’s also pretty small, which makes it a hard target to hit in realistic battles. Besides those positives, it’s also armed with 4 ShKAS that can destroy even the sturdiest plane, make sure to load in incendiary tracer rounds!

Why this plane is awesome:

• Small plane, hard to hit
• Heavily armored
• Maneuvrable(not as much as the Jap plane though)

2. Ju 87 G-1

Germplane.

This German fighter is covered in armor, making it hard to disable its engine, knock out the pilot or the machine gunner - speaking of which, that gunner will probably save your plane plenty of times from some idiots trying to shoot you down. It's relatively easy to shoot with this plane and it usually takes a few shots to take down another plane.Make sure to position your gunner in such a way that he can shoot at other planes, as your plane is slow.

Why this plane is awesome:

• OP armaments
• Awesome defensive machine gunner
• Armor provides protection to vital elements

1. F2A-3 Buffalo

A flying buffalo.

This plane is an excellent dogfighter in rank I. He’s also an extremely decent plane suited for booming and zooming tactics, armed to the teeth with 4x.50 cal machine guns that will bite through anything that moves. Despite it looking kinda “fat”, Buffalo is pretty maneuverable. It’s a fun plane but requires some knowledge about which planes you shouldn’t mess with!

• Maneuravble 
• Awesome dive speed, perfect for Boom/Zoom
• OP weaponry
