At Gamescom 2017, you'll be able to try out Metal Gear Survive
Konami has recently revealed that Metal Gear Survive will be available to play at Gamescom 2017. A spin-off to the Metal Gear series, Metal Gear Survive takes place in an alternate universe to that of the original series. It is reported by Konami that the game will keep the stealth and action elements of the original series, but couple it together with exploration and survival.
The story of the game will take place in an alternate reality, where Big Boss’ Militaires Sans Frontieres have been transported via a wormhole. The soldiers find themselves in a world infested with zombie-like enemies. Konami has described the single player campaign and four player co-op as “dense”.
The single player campaign will most likely be unavailable to co-op play, especially considering the co-op mode is a standard survival mode. Players will battle against wave after wave of enemies, much like many other games such as Left 4 Dead and Gears of War have already done.
From those that played the game at E3 however, it seems unlike any other survival mode. Players have to keep watch for their thirst, hunger and general health if they want to survive for long. Balancing basic survival and zombie-like hordes seems like an interesting concept.
Originally intended for a release this year, Metal Gear Survive has been pushed back. The release is slated for 2018 and will be released on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and Steam.
An official trailer for the game has been released, and that can be found below.
From the 22nd to the 26th of August, Gamescom attendees will have the chance to play Metal Gear Survive. Presumably this will be to get a feel for how fans of the series will react to the game. Although no actual gameplay has been revealed, there are already some popular theories surrounding the game.
