Set after events of Aliens and Aliens 3, players take on the role of Corporal Christopher Winter, a Colonial Marine sent in to find the legendary USS Sulaco and search for the marines that were dispatched to LV-426. However after an onslaught of xenomorphs wipes out most of his team, Winter and the Colonial Marines are forced to fight to survive in a hostile terrain. They soon find that they are not only against the elusive Xenomorphs, but also the Weyland-Yutani corporation, intent on breeding the xenomorphs for study.

In what is touted as the true sequel to James Cameron's Aliens, Colonial Marines pits players on a dark, hostile planet surrounded by the dangerous xenomorphs. As part of the elite Colonial Marines, they must not only end these threats, but find a way out - alive.

I don't have many favorite FPS games, but this is definitely one of them. The xenomorphs are scary enough in a movie but actually having to aim at them and successfully end them? That's though. Would definitely play again.

Games attached to movie franchises aren't popular. Aliens: Colonial Marines gets a bad rap from most gamers. This game is consistent in its combat and playability. Alien fans will appreciate the Easter eggs tied to the films. The Xenomorphs are terrifying and blowing them up is wish fulfillment for the film buffs. You can wait for the price to drop, but play the game.

It’s hard to view ACM as anything other than half finished. The lighting and rendering are shoddy, while the poor AI and level design completes the experience of disappointment. We can only assume that the simultaneous development of other titles (i.e. Borderlands 2) left the developers without the time, or talent to do this game justice.
