Bells are a form of centralized currency in the world of New Leaf. All financial transactions involve bells to some degree. Without bells, you can't shop at the plaza, buy a house, or perform many of the other essential activities for thriving in Animal Crossing. Here is a list fit for the person trying to get as many bells as possible.
If you have access to foreign towns or maintain healthy relationships with your neighbors, you can gain access to foreign fruits that sell for more bells.
This is a well-known glitch that can be performed if you are in cooperation with a friend. Those willing to spend real money can buy another copy of New Leaf and extra 3DS if they want to perform the glitch alone.
How it works:
Fill your pockets with the bells you want to clone.
Drop them near the station of a friend’s town.
Exit their town and have your friend disconnect their Wi-Fi on the saving screen. The specific time is one blue dot before a full rotation.
Reenter the town and find that your items have been duplicated.
Repeat for immense profit.

Everybody with an Animal Crossing town will be able to take advantage of perfect fruit farming. That is if they manage their resources well. All perfect fruit is golden colored. Perfect fruits of a variety different from the native species of fruit can be sold for significant bells but can’t be farmed in the same town.
How it works:
Find local perfect fruit trees.
Plant them and watch them grow.
Sell the fruits.
Be sure to increase your tree count as they wilt quickly.
This is the most reliable method for making bells. It doesn’t require other players and doesn’t take a few days in real life to reap the rewards. All you need is access to Tortimer Island and a few hours to kill.
How it works:
Pay off your first house loan.
Visit Tormiter for a boat ride.
Fish and catch bugs for a few hours.
Transport your goods to the mainland by stuffing them into the chest at the entrance.
