Earth Defense Force 5 is a cheesy blast, filled with giant aliens, explosions, and you’re thrown into the middle of it all.

  • There are giant monsters and aliens that you fight in droves with over the top weaponry. What else do you need to know?

  • You get to use a Bow. I mean, how many sci-fi games get away with letting you do that? Sure, there are other weapons, but you get a freaking bow!
  • The nano suit allows you to go invisible, so go forth and stealth!

3. Alien: Isolation

Most games make the player the hunter, but in this one, you are the hunted. Trapped within a space station, you will have to hide from, avoid, and trick the terrifying Alien. Will you be prey or will you escape?

What makes Alien Isolation awesome:

  • Roaming the space station is a dangerous Alien. Your few options to hide, run, and hopefully outsmart it. Hopefully.
  • Being on a space station, a lot of the areas are going to be cramped, giving the game a sense of claustrophobia. And the fact you’re trapped in there with the Alien only reminds you how much danger you’re in.
  • Enter into the universe of a beloved movie franchise. Good luck trying to get out.

2. Prey

Prey is a paranoia-inducing mystery, where the protagonist must carry explore a space station.

Simple enough, except for the fact that almost literally anything can be a shape-shifting creature. You’ll have to blast and smash everything, just in case, to survive.

What makes Prey Awesome:

  • The Neuromod system allows you to upgrade your character and make it through the station based on how you want to do it.
  • One of the things that stick out is the foam gun, which allows you to solve problems and all sorts of other things.
  • Few games will make you terrified of random junk that’s just lying around. Enough said.

1. Mass Effect 2

Mass Effect 2 is the second game in the beloved Mass Effect Trilogy. In the game you play as Commander Shepard, who has been recently resurrected by the shadow organization known as Cerberus, hoping he can protect humanity.

Throughout the game you will command the Normandy v.2 and your allies across the galaxy, going on missions and uncovering the mystery about a Race of Aliens known as the Collectors.

What makes Mass Effect 2 Awesome:

  • The game introduces you to a crew that is brimming with character, and you must win each of their loyalty, or face the consequences.
  • Your choices carry over from the previous game, and the choices you make in this game affect who lives and who dies, even Shepard himself.
  • Combat is much more fun thanks to the improvements they made to the combat, which means you’ll have a blast exploring the galaxy and fighting whatever tries to stop you!
