Destiny 2 Best PvE Weapons
Guardian face off with a Taken Ogre

Which weapon do you use when fighting ads, or bosses, or both at the same time?

When your enemies are rushing you, completely surrounding you, you don't want to be questioning which gun to use.

Here I give you a list of the Top 15 best PvE weapons to wreck your foes in Destiny 2.

15. IKELOS_SG_V1.0.1

IKELOS_SG_V1.0.1 Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

IKELOS is one of the many legendary shotguns in Destiny 2. It is found by completing Escalation Protocol Level 7, which is hellish to do, but with enough people it’ll be very rewarding once you finish it.

Trench Barrel is one of the perks which is where when you punch something it reduces your range, but increases your fire power. So this is a perfect weapon for those who play Titan with Hammerstrike. It is super great in PvE, for when you are up close to the boss or the ads, you will be doing about 10K damage for a body shot, and about 18-20K for a headshot.

It has the perks of:

  • Trench Barrel
  • Tactical Mag
  • Moving Target or Threat Detector
  • Rifled Barrel or Hammer-Forged Rifling or Polygonal Rifling
  • Rapid-Fire Frame

14. Blast Furnace

Blast Furnace Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

Blast Furnace is a legendary pulse rifle found in Destiny 2 by getting the weapon frame from Ada and going through many different quest steps and igniting a forge. It is a terrifying beast of a gun to have and a lot of fun to play with. Especially in PvE.

Put together Headseeker, Outlaw, and Aggressive Burst and they make this gun a one of a kind. Having 4 burst shots, and every body shot increasing precision damage, and then for every precision kill the reload speed is faster, no one stands a chance. The day you get this gun, is the day that you will conquer each and every enemy that tries to stand against you.

Blast Furnace Perks:

  • Aggressive Burst
  • Meyrin RDL or Satou Focus Lens
  • Tactical Mag
  • Outlaw
  • Headseeker
  • Tracker Disabled or Kill Tracker or Crucible Tracker

13. Chattering Bone

Chattering Bone Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

Chattering Bone is a legendary pulse rifle that is fantastic. It is found by playing the Last Wish Raid and sometimes in clan engrams. Head on over to The Dreaming City, grab a fireteam of 6 and figure out the puzzles while killing enemies!

On Chattering Bone your reload speed will be increased, reloading after a kill is faster, and the last bit of your magazine does more damage. Combine those three perks and this gun is virtually impossible to avoid being hit and killed by. Meaning that the ads will never stand a chance, you will melt them off the face of the map.

Chattering Bone Perks:

  • Lightweight Frame
  • Corkscrew Rifling
  • Light Mag
  • Kill Clip
  • High Impact Reserves
  • Tracker Disabled or Kill Tracker or Crucible Tracker

12. Whisper Of The Worm

Whisper Of The Worm Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

Whisper Of The Worm is an exotic sniper rifle found by completing the quest called “The Whisper”. Which has you go to IO and then join in the public event “Taken Blight” where you will then go and find a Taken Boss, typically located over by the Grove of Ulan-Tan Lost Sector, and kill him. Once you kill him, an anomaly will pop up that you go through to start the rest of the quest.

Having the combination of the perks White Nail and Mulligan makes it to where you will hardly ever have to reload with this gun. Get 3 precision kills rapidly and it refills your magazine, and if you accidentally miss a shot, there is a chance that it will return shots to your magazine as well. So play your cards right and you will never have to reload and all the ads and bosses out there will fall before you.

Whisper Of The Worm Perks:

  • White Nail
  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Accurized Rounds
  • Mulligan
  • Fitted Stock

11. The Wardcliff Coil

The Wardcliff Coil Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

Here we have The Wardcliff Coil, an exotic Rocket Launcher. It is found by getting random exotic engram drops, but there is a slightly higher chance if you are doing Heroic Public Events. A nickname for this gun is “The Spaghetti Strainer” for its looks.

This is an extremely powerful rocket launcher and there will be quite a few times where you go to kill your enemies, and you kill them, but you also kill yourself too if you are too close because the blast radius is fairly large. What is super nice about it is that this rocket launcher automatically reloads upon ammo pick-up. So with the extended blast radius, and automatic reload, this exotic rocket launcher is absolutely a boss killer.

The Wardcliff Coil Perks:

  • Mad Scientist
  • Volatile Launch
  • Extended Mag
  • Mechanized Autoloader
  • Composite Stock

10. Sleeper Simulant

Sleeper Simulant Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

The Sleeper Simulant is an exotic Linear Fusion Rifle. It is found by finishing the campaign on Mars and finishing one of the quests that Ana Bray gives you. There are a lot of quest steps involved that include getting lots of kills, killing high-powered enemies, completing a heroic strike, opening 15 sleeper nodes, completing 3 levels of Escalation Protocol with the IKELOS weapon equipped, and lastly, run the Mars final story mission again and then go talk to Ana. And after all that, you are done!

Enemies can say goodbye as this gun will overpenetrate and then bounce off of any hard surface to hit them or their friends again. Your stability is increased with polygonal rifling and flared magwell, which is helpful when you combine it with moving target, which allows you to move faster and be able to target enemies easier while aiming down the sights.

Sleeper Simulant Perks:

  • Dornröschen
  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Flared Magwell
  • Moving Target
  • Composite Stock

9. Ace of Spades

Ace of Spades Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

Ace of Spades, the exotic hand cannon from Cayde-6 himself. To get this gun, you must finish the Forsaken campaign, and then the quest given to you afterwards from Banshee. It is very intricate, with lots of different parts, but the biggest thing is to become friends with hand cannons as you will be using them A LOT to complete the quest steps.

Precision kills with this gun are a yes as they will increase your reload speed and the shots that you fire cause your enemy to explode, which then deals solar damage to any nearby enemies. If you miss a precision kill, that’s okay, it’ll still knock your opponent backwards, giving you the chance to hit them again. If you get the kill, reload immediately and a few of your next shots will have higher damage.

Ace of Spades Perks:

  • Memento Mori
  • Corkscrew Rifling
  • High-Caliber Rounds
  • Firefly
  • Smooth Grip
  • Tracker Disabled or Kill Tracker or Crucible Tracker

8. Crimson

Crimson Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

The Crimson an exotic hand cannon that most say is very similar to The Red Death from Destiny 1. It is found by getting exotic engram drops in the game, so it is very hard to get. Unless you are just plain lucky and get it quickly, then the rest of us ask you to please share your luck with us.

The stability and range on this gun are literally the best, you will not have a problem using this gun, unless like me, you aren’t very good with hand cannons. If you are good with them though, make sure to get those precision kills as they will reload your magazine for you, and any kill with it will heal you, precision kill or no.

Crimson Perks:

  • Banned Weapon
  • Smallbore
  • Accurized Rounds
  • Cruel Remedy
  • Heavy Grip

7. Midnight Coup

Midnight Coup Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

Midnight Coup is a legendary hand cannon that is found by doing the Leviathan Raid. It has a chance to drop in the chest that drops after you kill the final boss. So get a fireteam of 6 and head into the raid!

My personal favorite with this gun is running with Corkscrew Rifling and Ambitious Assassin. I love the increased stability, range, and handling that Corkscrew Rifling gives, and with Outlaw and Ambitious Assassin, reloading the gun happens less and when it does its quicker. With any way you have this gun though, you will be dealing very nice damage against your enemies.

Midnight Coup Perks:

  • Lightweight Frame
  • Smallbore or Corkscrew Rifling or Extended Barrel
  • Rampage or Ambitious Assassin
  • Outlaw

6. Tractor Cannon

Tractor Cannon Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

Tractor Cannon is an exotic shotgun, that also happens to be a heavy weapon. It is obtained by getting exotic engrams drops. So again, lots of luck and hoping. Try going to Kyra on The Farm, instead of Rahool in the tower, to mix it up a little bit with who you are having decrypt your engrams.

Going up against a really big boss and just really can’t get a good hit on them? With one shot Tractor Cannon will push your enemy back, suppress their abilities, and make them vulnerable to damage, especially void damage. Your stability is amazing, and when you damage an enemy, you will be able to move faster, so you can dodge any hits that your enemies may throw at you a bit faster than normal.

Tractor Cannon Perks:

  • Repulsor Force
  • Extended Barrel
  • Particle Repeater
  • The Scientific Method
  • Composite Stock

5. Threat Level

Threat Level Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

Threat Level is a legendary shotgun that you get by doing the Scourge of the Past raid. It typically drops the first time you finish the raid with random perks attached. This gun is said to be the next IKELOS shotgun or at least a sister to it.

Melee kills will be your best friend with this shotgun as it has the perks Trench Barrel and Grave Robber on it. You’ll get the increased damage and you’ll be able to reload your gun at the same time! So while going after the bosses in PvE, hit all the ads with your melee ability and then your damage on the boss will be increased.

Threat Level Perks:

  • Rapid-Fire Frame
  • Barrel Shroud
  • Light Mag
  • Trench Barrel
  • Grave Robber
  • Tracker Disabled or Kill Tracker or Crucible Tracker

4. Thunderlord

Thunderlord Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

The Thunderlord is an exotic machine gun! Time was you could get the Thunderlord by doing The Lost Cryptarch quest from Amanda Holliday, but that is no longer the case as the Festival of the Lost is now done. Instead it is like any other exotic where you have to wait for it to drop in an exotic engram.

This weapon is known for its lightning shots, that come from getting kills. When you just press and hold the trigger, its fire rate increases and more lightning will reign down from the skies amongst your enemies. This is a literal beast when it comes to clearing ads, or getting rid of a boss, FAST. Just fire and hold against a boss, and it’ll be over soon.

Thunderlord Perks:

  • Reign Havoc
  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Armor-Piercing Rounds
  • Lightning Rounds
  • Feeding Frenzy
  • Tracker Disabled or Kill Tracker or Crucible Tracker

3. Breakneck

Breakneck Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

Breakneck is a legendary auto rifle that is found by completing a quest from The Drifter. It is a specific quest called “Before the Storm”. The quest steps will have you in Gambit for quite a bit, so buckle in and grind those matches!

For taking down ads, this gun is absolutely perfect as you stack your kills and fire faster, thanks to Rampage and Onslaught. The recoil tends to be more vertical than horizontal, so make sure to take that into account when firing. It does have a larger magazine, but reloads a little slower.

Breakneck Perks:

  • Precision Frame
  • Polygonal Rifling
  • Extended Mag
  • Rampage
  • Onslaught
  • Tracker Disabled or Kill Tracker or Crucible Tracker

2. Coldheart

Coldheart Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

Coldheart is an exotic Trace Rifle that most people got through preordering the game. There is a way to get it without preordering now, and that is simply to go and collect engrams. I’ve seen it in exotic engrams, chests, and legendary engrams too.

This gun shoots out a cold fusion-powered laser at your enemies, the longer it’s focused on an enemy the more damage it does. The magazine is increased with the Enhanced Battery perk, but it still goes through it rather quickly. This is a gun that I would use on a boss or to clear a crap ton of ads.

Coldheart Perks:

  • Cold Fusion
  • Extended Barrel
  • Enhanced Battery
  • Longest Winter
  • Hand-Laid Stock

1. The Huckleberry

The Huckleberry Inventory Picture from Destiny 2

The Huckleberry, an exotic submachine gun is going to take our number one spot. It is found purely by chance in engrams or the rare chest throughout the world. So lady luck must be on our side for this one to get, so we’ll just syphon off all that luck from those who have gotten this gun already.

For those of us who love to hold down the trigger and just go, this is the gun to do it with. The firing rate gets faster the longer you hold the trigger. Add rampage in and there’s even more damage you are you doing once it has stacked. And if you miss, oh well, there’s still a chance for the bullets to ricochet off hard surfaces and hit the enemies anyway.

The Huckleberry Perks:

  • Ride The Bull
  • Fluted Barrel
  • Ricochet Rounds
  • Rampage
  • Short-Action Stock
