Looking for ways to rake in the Gil on FF14?

Chances are you’ve found yourself in a bit of a financial pinch, or maybe you’re just saving for some beach front property in the Mist. How does the enterprising young adventurer rake in the Gil in Final Fantasy XIV? Wonder no more, because we have the top ten methods to ensure you’re Eozrea’s freshest new Gillionaire!

Method 1: Roulettes

Challenging Midgardsormr in the Keeper of the Lake Dungeon is one of the many epic boss battles encountered through the Duty Roulette.

While it’s a no brainer for EXP farming, regularly joining the various roulettes offered can net you a cool 5,000-9,000 Gil for dungeons, and up to 10,000 Gil for trials. Keep an eye out for the Adventurer in Need bonus, often popping for tanks and healers, as this grants Gil and EXP bonuses.

How to:

• Unlock the Duty Finder. You must follow through your level 10 main story quests, which will lead to a levemete NPC quest that introduces you to the Duty Finder.
• Pull up the main menu, scroll over to the Duty tab, and select Duty Finder from the drop-down menu.
• You should see a popup with a few different tabs and icons. Select the blue square with the question mark in it, and this will list your unlocked roulettes.
• Select the square next to whichever roulette suits your fancy, and you’re on your way! You will be added to a queue and entered into the next available party.

Method 2: Ventures

If you’re only using your retainers for storage or the occasional resell, you’re missing out on some serious Gil. Why spend precious time running errands when you can make someone else do the dirty work? Sending your retainers out on their own personal missions, called ventures, can bring you anywhere from 5k to over 1 million Gil with no hassle whatsoever!

How to:

• Retainer ventures are unlocked through a level 17 main scenario quest given by the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.
• Before undertaking ventures, you must assign your retainer a class and equip them with respective gear; just like you do your own character. They will gain EXP and level up as ventures go on.
• To assign a venture, head to your nearest summoning bell and call your retainer. “Assign Venture” will be an option in the retainer interface.
• Sending retainers out costs a special currency called “ventures.” These are obtained through beast tribe quests, levemetes, and exchanging company seals.
• There are several kinds of ventures available, and your retainer will bring back various items depending on the sort of venture they are sent out on.
• Once your retainer returns, you can resell the items they have returned with on the Market Board. Some items resell for the low thousands, but others have received rare items worth over 10,000,000 Gil!
• You can assign multiple retainers at a time to ventures, so be sure to send them all out into the field and sit back and relax while they do all the work for you!

Method 3: Challenge Log

Entering Guildhests, exploring dungeons, and defeating monsters is all par the course for the ff14 Challenge Log. Hack and slash your way to more Gil!

The Challenge Log is a weekly list of objectives including many different areas of adventuring. Gil and EXP rewards are given for completing these objectives, with singular challenges netting around 1k Gil each, and completion of the overall log bringing in 10-15k Gil.

How to:

• The Challenge Log is unlocked via the level 15 quest “Rising to the Challenge” located in the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks.
• Pull up your main menu, scroll over to the Logs tab, and select the Challenge Log from the drop-down menu.
• Selecting the Challenge Log will prompt a pop-up, showing the various challenges, their rewards, and your progress towards completing them.

Method 4: Hunts

Hunts are an exciting way to face Eorzea's fiercest monsters! You can even face off with Monster Hunter's infamous Rathalos.

What Eorzean hero doesn’t want to help his fellow citizens by killing dangerous and threatening monsters? Not only can you pull 5k Gil for these hunts, but you’ll also be awarded various seals which can be exchanged for highly valuable goods...and there’s the bragging rights for taking down vicious beasts, of course.

How to:

• Unlock the Hunt by pursuing the level 50 quest “Let the Hunt Begin.” This quest can be found in your chosen Grand Company headquarters.
• Check out the Hunt Boards at each Grand Company’s headquarters and see what monsters are available to go after.
• Consider joining a hunting Linkshell, as many of these monsters can only be taken down by a party. Use the “shout” feature in chat to ask for an invite to active groups.

Method 5: Levequests

Levequests are repeatable quests given out by regional Levemetes, making them a perfect setup for pulling in some side Gil and EXP. Quests can bring in 100-900 Gil each, scaling with the level of the quest, making it easy to raise piles of Gil with some grinding time and dedication.

How to:

• To unlock the levequest system you must make sure to visit your starting city’s adventurer’s guild and take the sidequest “Leves of Bentbranch/Horizon/Swiftperch”
• As you travel to various cities, you will meet different Levemetes and be able to unlock the city’s levequests through the appropriately named “Leves of ____” quest.
• Levemetes are NPCs with large silver and gold exclamation points over their heads.
• There are levequests for battle, field, and trade that require Disciples of War/Magic, Disciple of the Land, and Disciples of the Hand respectively.
• After unlocking a city’s levequests, talk to the Levemete and select any quests you’d like to participate in, then follow the directions to complete the quests and reap the rewards!

Method 6: Trading Seals & Tomestones

Company seals and Allagan Tomestones are unique tokens that are available through dungeons, trials, the Duty Roulette, FATEs, and Beast Tribe quests. They can be traded for unique gear and items, which can then be sold for anywhere from 5k to 100k+ on the Market Board.

• Company seals are a special currency unique to your chosen Grand Company. You can use them for promotions within your GC, but you can also spend them on materials such as Coke or Peacock Ore, which often sell very well on the Market Board.
• Allagan Tomestones are end game tokens and can be traded in a very similar manner. Here is one lucrative breakdown:
  • Head to Rowena’s Center for Cultural Promotion in Idyllshire.
  • Talk to Hismena to trade in the Allagan Tomestones of Poetics for Unidentifiable Ore.
  • Talk to Bertana to trade Unidentifiable Ore for Grade 3 Thanalan Top Soil.
  • Sell this valuable soil on the Market Board.
  • Profit.
• Whether you simply trade your seals and tomestones for gear to resell, or whether you trade for various valuable items, there is endless opportunity for Gil making!
• To monitor current selling rates on the Market Board, utilize a site such as https://www.ffxivmb.com/ to make sure you’re not under or overvaluing your items.

Method 7: Palace of the Dead

Throw yourself in the winding corridors of the Palace of the Dead, but be careful! Dangerous enchantments and hidden traps await around every corner, and you never know what enemies you may face.

Unlocked at level 17, the Palace of the Dead is an everchanging dungeon where all players begin at level 1 and level up as they fight through the dungeon. Unique and bizarre, POTD is also a good way to pick up unique items to trade and sell for Gil in the low thousands, to over 100k.

How to:

• To unlock the Palace of the Dead, head to New Gridania to locate the NPC Nojiro Marujiro to complete the sidequest “The House That Death Built.”
• Once unlocked, you can enter POTD by speaking to the Wood Wailer expeditionary captain in Quarrymill.
• Like most dungeons, you can enter POTD with a fixed party or you can be matched with a party.
• Stay fighting as long as you would like! The more time spent in the POTD, the more items you serve to get.
• Check the Market Board regularly to see how valuable your loot is and decide what you want to sell!

Method 8: Treasure Hunts

Let that inner pirate out, adventurer! Load yourself up with timeworn treasure maps and get out there to win your fortune!

As the name would imply, treasure hunts are a great way to find some valuable items out in Eorzea! While many discovered treasures contain at least 1k Gil, they can also contain items that sell for over 100k on the Market Board.

How to:

• To unlock Treasure Hunts, complete the level 36 sidequest “Treasures and Tribulations” located in Eastern La Noscea.
• Once unlocked you can begin your search for Treasure Maps! There are two ways to obtain maps - one is having a gathering class leveled to 40, as maps are often found in gathering nodes level 40 and higher.
• An arguably easier way to obtain maps is to search for and purchase them off the Market Board. Often times they are pretty cheap.
• Once purchased, the map will show up in your inventory. Select the map and choose the option to decipher it.
• Once deciphered, you will see a small selection of map and the general area the treasure is located. It’s up to you to match the small section up to your minimap to pinpoint the location.
• Having successfully reached your destination, open up your character’s Actions & Traits and select “Dig.”
• If you have located the treasure, a treasure coffer will appear. However, enemies will often spawn to guard the treasure, so be prepared!
• Keep in mind there are some treasures that are protected by monsters that require a small party to take down. Consider joining a Treasure Hunt linkshell to tackle these, and the rewards will be split evenly in the party.

Method 9: Disciple of the Land

This isn't all about looking great in some new headgear! Put in some time and dedication to your Disciple of Land and you'll see firsthand the benefits in your growing Gil account.

Above all, the most tried-and-true methods for raising Gil in FF14 come down to crafting and gathering. Disciples of the Land such as the popular Miner class explore Eorzea and farm valuable materials that can pull in 10-20k Gil an hour for the dedicated player.

How to:

• Disciples of the Land include Miners, whose guild lies in Ul’Dah, Botanists who hail from Gridania, and Limsa Lominsa’s Fisher class. Unlock each by visiting their respective guilds.
• Many lower level items sell well on the Market Board, purchased by others who don’t want to spend time gathering themselves.
• Mining especially is noted for its lucrative gains, as you can easily collect Elemental shards, clusters, and crystals which all sell favorably on the Market Board.

Method 10: Disciple of the Hand

Ah, the sweet smell of success. Food isn't the only thing cooking when you dedicate yourself to a crafting class; you'll also be whipping up some major money!

The yin to gathering’s yang, crafting is another staple of raising Gil in FF14. Not only can leveling a crafter enable you to save money by making your own armor or meals, but you can also sell materials and net bundles of 10-20k Gil at a time.

How to:

• Disciples of the Hand far outnumber those of the Land, with Carpenter, Blacksmith, Armorer, Goldsmith, Leatherworker, Weaver, Alchemist, and Culinarian all included. Run around each of the starting cities to unlock as many as you’d like.
• There are plenty of players who don’t want to be bothered crafting low-level items they may need for other projects. Synthesize basic materials and then sell these on the Market Board for a quick Gil grab.
• Experienced FF14 veterans know that the more crafts you unlock and level, the more Gil there is to be had. Don’t limit yourself to just one job - diversify and you can easily double or triple your Gil intake.
