Welcome to class Food Benefit 101!
In this article, we are going to discuss what is the current best meal for DPS. Before we start, you should know that in Final Fantasy XIV, meals will give you an extra 3% experience and additional status depends on what you eat for a 30 minutes duration. You can extend the duration by eating the same meal over it to create a stack, or replace it with another meal if you decide to go with something else. Do note that you will lose the effects of the previous meal.
DPS meals are divided into 2 categories, for melee and the other one for magic, and I'm going to make my recommendation for both of them. For DPS you can either choose between, faster skill rotation, hit harder, or more critical rate and my list will provide you with the available options depending on what you prefer. Are you ready? Cause I'm super ready! Here is the menu for what your DPS should get! All the meals here are available on the Market Boards, so help yourself!
5. Mist Spinach Quiche (iLevel 510)
"Using choice ingredients such as mist spinach and mozzarella, this variation of spinach quiche satisfies even the fussiest gourmand."
First of all, we have Mist Spinach Quiche. This quiche will give you a better rate on landing a clean or direct hit. It is a bit different from a critical hit, and it allows you to give more damage. I prefer critical hits over direct hits which explain why this is on number 5. Other than that it gives a fine amount of vitality that affects your health point, and faster skill rotation. This meal is for Melee DPS.
NQ Status:
- Direct Hit Rate 8% max 86
- Vitality 8% max 208
- Skill Speed 8% max 143
HQ Status:
- Direct Hit Rate 10% max 108
- Vitality 10% max 260
- Skill Speed 10% max 179
4. Zefir (iLevel 510)
"An irresistibly soft and airy confectionary made from whipped twilight apple purée."
Zefir is food for your Magic DPS. It is the same as Mist Spinach Quiche which giving you a higher Direct Hit Rate, regardless of my preference. The only difference is this meal will reduce the amount of casting needed to put your spell, and also the amount of delay for a spell.
NQ Status:
- Direct Hit Rate 8% max 86
- Vitality 8% max 208
- Spell Speed 8% max 143
HQ Status:
- Direct Hit Rate 10% max 108
- Vitality 10% max 260
- Spell Speed 10% max 179
3. Twilight Popoto Salad (iLevel 510)
"Shredded twilight apples give this popoto salad a crunchy texture and fruity tang."
Twilight Popoto is my one love for Magic DPS. The only difference from Zefir is that it gives you a better critical hit rate rather than a direct hit rate. This meal also gives a fair amount of vitality points and reduces your casting and delay for spells.
NQ Status:
- Critical Hit Rate 8% max 143
- Vitality 8% max 208
- Spell Speed 8% max 86
HQ Status:
- Critical Hit Rate 10% max 179
- Vitality 10% max 260
- Spell Speed 10% max 108
2. Smoked Chicken (iLevel 510)
"A leg of chicken patiently smoked to perfection."
Smoked Chicken is your choice if you want to be THE DPS since it gives you determination. Determination will affect how hard you hit or heal, in this case how hard you hit. It is good for both Melee or Magic DPS. Unlike other meals I present, this one does not have additional skill/spell speed status but instead boost your critical hit rate. If you already got your skill/spell speed covered with materia, this is the way to go.
NQ Status:
- Determination 8% max 143
- Vitality 8% max 208
- Critical Hit Rate 8% max 86
HQ Status:
- Determination 10% max 179
- Vitality 10% max 260
- Critical Hit Rate 10% max 108
1. Chicken Fettuccine (iLevel 510)
"Flat, thick pasta smothered in a rich cream sauce with tender slices of chicken thigh."
Last but not least on the menu, we have Chicken Fettuccine. This meal will give you the benefits of a higher critical hit rate, fair vitality points, as well as faster skill rotation. This meal is for Melee DPS.
NQ Status:
- Critical Hit 8% max 143
- Vitality 8% max 208
- Skill Speed 8% max 86
HQ Status:
- Critical Hit 10% max 179
- Vitality 10% max 260
- Skill Speed 10% max 108
