5.The Refugees:

The Refugees is one of the scenarios in Frostpunk, unlocked after surviving twenty days of A New Home. This scenario revolves around your city dealing with new people arriving every two or so days, initially poor refugees from London, and later the lords who tried to have them killed, and dealing with the discontent associated with the two mingling.

The Refugees details:

  • The scenario begins with the city taking in a number of refugee waves, as well as sending scouts to retrieve other refugees.
  • If you decide to let lords into your city, you'll have to deal with the conflict that causes. But If you ever decide to leave lords outside the city, you'll have to deal with unruly neighbours.
  • This scenario has 3 endings, depending on the choices made during the gameplay.

Why The Refugees is Great:

  • The Refugees put emphasis on the development of characters and their reputation systems. This makes the NPCs in the game seem more humane. 
  • The player’s actions have a significant impact on the world around them.
  • You are faced with the massive challenge of balancing your people’s needs and the incoming refugees’. 
  • This scenario presents different moral dilemmas with each choice.

 

4. The Fall of Winterhome:

The Fall of Winterhome, a story-driven, free expansion for Frostpunk,unveils the events preceding those in the main campaign, where players might have discovered the ruined town of Winterhome. The scenario tells what had happened in the town before the catastrophe struck.As you have been appointed as the new leader of Winterhome after the previous leader was thrown out of power for horrible neglect and mismanagement. Unlike the other scenarios, your city is pre-built (but in very bad condition), some laws are already signed and research is already completed.

The Fall of Winterhome details:

  • The player is tasked with cleaning up the mess left behind by their predecessor. 
  • The city layout is horrendously badly designed.
  • The Book of Laws is lacking in areas of Work, Food and Medicine.
  • A possible ending directly ties this scenario to the main game.

Why The Fall of Winterhome is Great:

  • The player is immersed into hours of brand-new content, revealing the story of a fallen city.
  • The unique map offers dozens of fresh visuals and storylines as well as original lore to discover.
  • This scenario offers new mechanics, buildings and mechanisms that will keep the player invested from the start to the end of the game.

 

3.The Arks:

“As the brightest minds of Oxford and Cambridge, we have been sent to save priceless seed and plant specimens from the eternal winter. Do we have what it takes to keep the Seedling Arks safe?”. The Arks is one of the scenarios in Frostpunk, unlocked after surviving 20 days of A New Home. This scenario revolves around keeping four Seedling Arks from freezing, and producing automatons to keep the city running.

The Arks details:

  • This scenario was released along with the base game.
  • The player is the leader of a group of scholars from Oxford and Cambridge responsible for establishing a self-operational city for the purpose of preserving seeds and plants from around the world from the volcanic winter.
  • The player will start this scenario with 45 engineers and one Automaton.

Why The Arks is great:

  • In this scenario, instead of helping people to survive, you'll be in charge of keeping seeds alive. Unlike most other scenarios, the city's population is entirely made up of engineers, and rely primarily on automatons for resource gathering.
  • During The Arks, a new building is introduced, the Seedling Ark, a repository that has inside seeds and seedlings from around the globe that will help the human race rebuild the world after the icy apocalypse is over.
  • While this scenario doesn't have arcs, subplots like helping New Manchester and quests like preparing for the storm will keep the story going.

 

2. On The Edge:

Assigned as the leader of a newly formed Outpost — settled near the Army Warehouse — you are kept on New London's leash and bound to transfer all your precious findings to the headquarters. At the same time, you have to rely on scarce food deliveries and laws enforced by your supervisor. It's a delicate balance to navigate — each decision introduces new risks and hardships. But as soon as the alternate food source is discovered by your scouts, you can start to think about surviving on your own…Snowy tides turn quickly on the Frostland. There are other Settlements out there willing to cooperate with you. 

On The Edge details:

  • This scenario revolves around the events after A New Home.
  • It was released on the 20th of August, 2020.
  • The player is supposed to get in contact with various settlements.
  • With no Generator in the outpost, you have to find other ways to keep the people warm.

Why On The Edge is Great:

  • This expansion introduces new Frostland mechanics: Settlements and Safe Routes as well as new Relations mechanics: Favours, Improvements, Trading, Diplomacy.
  • The player has  to gain the loyalty of foreign settlements, designate trade routes between new allies, and regain control over your Book of Laws, then they can form a strong, independent union.
  • New Unit is introduced: Construction Team - used to build Trading Depots and Safe Routes.
  • 16 brand new areas on Frostland and new lore were added to some of the old sites plus  3 new city structures and 7 new technologies.
  • A brand-new Setting in all Endless Mode variants is now available, it is called Settlements.
  • The new scenario presents 25 minutes of new music (6 tracks) composed by Piotr Musiał.
  • As well as many smaller additions, improvements and fixes that the player will notice upon investing a decent amount of time into the game.

 

1.The Last Autumn:

The Last Autumn is a turning point in the Frostpunk universe. Revealing the restless events of Site 113 and its struggle to construct the generator before the freezing veil shrouds the Earth. The player will be leading a group of engineers working on one of the world’s greatest technological marvels - a Generator - which will require adapting your strategy to extraordinary situations. As the leader of Site 113, hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. For Queen and Country!

The Last Autumn details:

  • This Scenario is a prequel to the rest of the game.
  • It was released on the 21st of January, 2020. 
  • Player is tasked with building a generator at Site 113. This specific generator is meant to house the people of Liverpool.
  • The player will be expected to meet various deadlines throughout the scenario. 
  • Failing to meet these deadlines repeatedly results in a termination.

Why The Last Autumn is Great:

  • This prequel expansion broadens the Frostpunk universe by introducing a new environment, new Books of Laws and unique technologies, and presents a range of new buildings — all of which let you shape society and the city in unconventional ways.
  • Setting this expansion before the events of the base game gave 11 bit studios more room to explore Frostpunk's lore.
  • When making the generator at the centre, workers go in, but there's a possibility that they might never come out again. The expansion is very effective at making you feel each loss.
  • It might be a difficult scenario but there are many different routes and choices that keep the player returning to The Last Autumn to try again.
  • This expansion offers an innovative relationship system where workers and engineers can have a divide and can even start unions and go on strikes.
  • The scouting system is much more extensive and gives the player more options and choices to make.
  • The refreshing greenery is a relieving concept for any seasoned Frostpunk player as they are used to looking at snow all the time.
