[Top 10] Genshin Impact Best 5-Star Supports

Beware of the beautiful kitsune priestess

Everyone knows that even if Genshin Impact allows players to create a team of 4 characters, it’s not useful for all of them to be damage dealers (DPS). Most of the time it’s better to use 1 or 2 at max.

Then, who are the other two places for? Well, for supports. Healers, shielders, enablers… Every type of character that can protect or increase the damage of your main DPS. In this guide, we’ll show you who are the best supports from the 5-star class characters and why.

10. Shenhe

We start the guide with Shenhe, a girl from Liyue who has been taught adeptus art since she was a child. Shenhe is a character that can be perfectly used as a DPS/sub-DPS. However, she shines when supporting other Cryo characters and freezing team compositions. Her kit allows her to increase Cryo damage while also applying Cryo to enemies in a wide area.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Provides large amounts of Cryo and Physical resistance shred
  • Tailor-made for mono Cryo teams
  • Elemental Burst covers a wide area

9. Yae Miko

Next, we find Yae Miko. She’s the Electro Archon’s familiar, who comes from a family of the Kitsune race. Being playable since last month, Yae Miko got to the top 10 best sub DPS as well as support characters. Her low cooldown skill can deal tons of damage off-field, and her burst is a nuker with a huge area of effect!

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Quick Elemental Skill cooldown
  • Elemental Skill has a wide targeting range
  • Elemental Burst deals high AoE Electro DMG.

8. Mona

Mona’s not a new character like the two before her. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t deserve her place at this top. Mona is and has always been one of the best enablers in the game. Her crowd-controlling skill is perfect to use before unleashing her burst. This combination can deal tons of damage and increase your DPS’s damage by a lot.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Unique movement style allows for high-speed actions
  • Elemental Skill provides a decoy for crowd control
  • Elemental Burst deals a lot of DMG and buffs DMG.

7. Qiqi

As a healer whose healing increases with her Attack star, Qiqi can support your teammates both by giving lost HP and dealing damage. You can get healed with her elemental skill, her burst, and even your DPS’s normal attacks. Together with her Cryo applying abilities, she’s really useful with a Hydro or Pyro DPS.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Strong Overall Healing
  • Elemental Skill provides heals over time
  • Elemental Burst provides great Heals, especially in Co-op.

6. Jean

With the Knight of Favonious Jean, we encounter a similar situation. Jean’s burst and normal attacks can heal your party, and this healing is increased with her ATK stat. Her kit is also good for crowd-controlling enemies and (because her ATK stat is high) it also deals tons of damage. All in all, she’s an all-around support.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Elemental Skill can function as crowd control
  • Normal Attacks heal the party
  • Elemental Burst provides AoE Burst Heal and DMG.

5. Albedo

Onto the first half, we find Albedo the alchemist. Albedo possesses the skill with the lowest cooldown, which allows him to create a large area in which the enemies will receive extra Geo damage when hit. This damage is done even when he’s off-field and it also procures shields with each hit. Taking into account he only needs the easiest-to-find DEF stat, he’s amazing.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Provides large AoE of Supplemental Geo DMG.
  • Has one of the lowest Elemental Skill CD at 4s
  • Gives an additional 125 Elemental Mastery after using Elemental Burst
  • Can use DEF % Artifacts like Noelle, lowering the building difficulty.

4. Sangonomiya Kokomi

Kokomi is the Priestess and ruler of Watatsumi Island. She was blessed with a Hydro Vision to heal her allies and deal tons of damage in a short time. She can even walk through the water at that time! Basically a goddess. Her skill has a huge area of healing (while also applying Hydro to enemies) and her burst also makes her normal attacks heal. She’s the perfect healer.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Excellent Healing capabilities
  • Elemental Skill covers a wide area and can apply Hydro easily
  • Decent DMG Output with her Normal Attacks during her Elemental Burst mode
  • Normal Attacks during her Elemental Burst mode can heal the entire party.

3. Zhongli

On the podium, we find Zhongli, the best shielder in the game. Although he lives with the humans now, he was once the Geo Archon, Morax, ruler of Liyue. Even if that time has passed, his shield is the best there is. It never breaks (it hasn’t broken even once for me!) because of its high rate of damage absorption and if you see enemies are too near…just through them a meteor, a.k.a. use his powerful elemental burst.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • Large AoE Geo Damage
  • Tough shield that can withstand most enemy attacks
  • Can petrify enemies with his Elemental Burst
  • Can drain Geo Element from Enemies.

2. Venti

In 3rd place, we had the (ex) Geo Archon, so in 2nd place, we have the Anemo Archon. Barbatos, or as he likes people to call him, Venti, has been in the game from the start, never once falling from this podium. He constantly has his burst ready, so he’s always ready to create a vortex to pull in any enemy. That vortex can also absorb an element and deal swirl damage. Hilichurls? I just see a blur inside Venti’s black hole.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • High Energy Recharge rate
  • Elemental Skill makes exploration easy
  • Great Crowd Control, Elemental Burst groups up enemies and absorbs elements
  • Can deal massive damage without his constellations unlocked.

1. Kaedehara Kazuha

Finally, at the top, we find Kazuha, the wanderer samurai who is sailing with the Crux Fleet. He’s the character who dethroned the Anemo Archon from the best support seat, so he’s incredible indeed. With a powerful burst that continuously damages enemies and a skill that sucks in your foes, he can control the field like a magician.

What Makes This Character Great:

  • High Elemental Mastery buffs to support team
  • Acts like a ''battery'' for Energy Recharge
  • Powerful passive Swirl DMG as a Sub-DPS
  • Easy exploration with Skill and Passive Talent

Although people like to see high numbers in Genshin Impact and love to say how amazing a DPS is, most of the time their amazingness comes from having outstanding supports behind the scenes. We hope this guide can help you understand the role of supports and know who to introduce to your team.
