[Top 10] Growtopia Best Farmables That Are Great

Growtopia Best Farmables That Are Great, top growtopia farmables 2022, top gt farmables, best farmable in growtopia
Underrated? We'll consider it. Also try Pastel Purple Block and Ice!

Most players farm in Growtopia (2013) for profit. It helps to know which unique blocks are the most stable. Learning which farmables are worth your time helps you get stuff like World Locks for something else.

Read further if you’re just getting into Growtopia and don’t know where to begin. Like most popular MMOs, Growtopia encourages community trading. Mass produce, buy, or sell them in dedicated BUY+/SELL+ worlds!

To make it easy for you, I’ll list it from most profitable (expensive) to least profitable (cheap) blocks.

Here’s a farming guide you can use if you’re a beginner. Aipan (YouTuber) teaches well the basics of splicing in an easy, profitable way. JonnyPlaysGT has a few tips. Make sure you’ve got a Pickaxe on – and whenever you’re ready, let’s PUNCH, BUILD, and GROW!

10. Magic Bell

  • Item type
    • Foreground (Block)
  • Hardness (how long it takes to break)
    • 10 hits; 8 hits (Enhanced Digging)
  • Grow time
    • 1 week
    • 2 days
    • 24 hours
    • 57 minutes
    • 5 seconds
  • Gems dropped
    • 0 to 24

The Magic Bell barrels through other farmables for the gem-to-block ratio. In numbers, it gives up to 25 gems per block. However, it also takes longer to break. Farmables like the Chandelier or Fish Tank might serve you better for efficient and lazy workers. Hah!

You should go for this if, and only if, you have the funds to buy yourself these premiums. BFG owners can afford them because they’re rich. How’s your bank?

Win the Magic Bell during Easter Week. You can get it from EGGRESCUE (world). Don’t miss it!

Why Magic Bell Farmable is Great

  • Expensive, but in-demand.

9. Chandelier

  • Item type
    • Foreground (Block)
  • Hardness (how long it takes to break)
    • 7 hits; 6 hits (Enhanced Digging)
  • Grow time
    • 1 week
    • 0 days
    • 15 hours
    • 38 minutes
    • 33 seconds
  • Gems dropped
    • 0 to 22

Chandeliers are the most used farming blocks. Although it’s only second in commodity, it isn’t as bad as Crystal Blocks ought to be. It’s both easy to break and drops 7-22 gems. All blocks have the chance to drop nothing, so keep that in mind.

Did you know? They were really expensive! But as with the laws of supply and demand… Too much stock drives the cost to oblivion. (Tell that to the graphics card industry.)

Still, if you’re searching for a reliable gem source and won’t mind the casual profit you’ll get from selling these off, then go for it. This is the perfect farmable if you’ve got at least 5 to 30 WLs (World Locks) to spare.

Why Chandelier Farmable is Great

  • Cheap, yet competitive with Magic Bell
  • Still gives a lot of gems.

8. Sorcerer Stone

  • Item type
    • Foreground (Block)
  • Hardness (how long it takes to break)
    • 8 hits; 6 hits (Enhanced Digging)
  • Grow time
    • 1 week
    • 0 days
    • 15 hours
    • 38 minutes
    • 33 seconds
  • Gems dropped
    • 0 to 22

Sorcerer Stone is used for Crystallized Wealth. It also drops up to 22 gems. The Stone is used to make the Ancestral Lens of Riches, giving you an extra chance of blocks dropping double gems.

It’s basically the community’s favorite sister besides the Chandelier. They both have Crystallized recipes. It drops gems like Chandeliers, but also sells well. The thing is, it’s very hard to look for sellers.

BUYSORCERER should have people from time to time, though. Maybe try broadcasting? (/bc; /cb; /sb)

Why Sorcerer Stone Farmable is Great

  • Easy to sell and compete with Chandelier
  • Sells for more than Chandelier despite having similar stats

7. Crystal Block (farmable; if we meet the conditions)

  • Item type
    • Foreground (Block)
  • Hardness (how long it takes to break)
    • 15 hits; 12 hits (Enhanced Digging)
  • Grow time
    • 1 week
    • 4 days
    • 14 hours
    • 36 minutes
    • 40 seconds
  • Gems dropped
    • 0 to 26

Surprised? For players who've got the money to spend, supply yourself with loads of Crystal Blocks. These blocks only drop from events or Clothing Compactors. They also drop up to 26 gems and are used for profitable crafting recipes.

The catch is, that extra seeds rarely drop from Crystals, even if they’re considered farmable.

Various items in the game already increase the chances of a double block drop. How do you get these buffs?

  • Level up your Builder role
    • Level 2: 0.5% chance of dropping double blocks when breaking blocks.
    • Level 4: 1% chance of dropping double blocks when breaking blocks.
    • Level 6: 1.5% chance of dropping double blocks when breaking blocks.
    • Level 8: 2% chance of dropping double blocks when breaking blocks.
    • Level 10: 3% chance of dropping double blocks when breaking blocks.
  • Use a Hand Scythe
    • “[...] you'll get twice as much fruit! The only downside is that it's highly likely to break when used.”
  • Acquire the Ancestral Tesseract of Dimensions
    • “[...] provides an extra 5% chance for a block broken by the player to drop itself. Each upgrade increases the chance by 1%.”
  • Fuel up the Harvester of Sorrows
    • For each 1 Fuel Pack, every tree has a 10% chance to drop extra fruit.
  • Use the Dreamcatcher Staff
    • “[...] 2% chance of getting extra blocks from harvesting trees!”
  • Equip a Buddy’s Block Head
    • “[...] Gives you a chance of dropping an additional block when breaking blocks!”
  • Join a guild running Guild Potion - Blocks
    • "Guild Potion Buff: 1% bonus chance of dropping an Extra Block1 Buff lasts for a limited time."

Crystal Blocks are profitable because they’re used for the Growsaber crafting recipe. I’m not sure why these lightsaber parodies require crystals, but even more confusing is a Growsaber sword made from flames! Flamesaber

Only commit to an all-Crystal farm if you’re gutsy and ready to risk with an informed decision.

Why Farmable Crystal Blocks are Great

  • Unconventional; however, still in demand
  • Not many people farm Crystal Blocks; hence less competition

6. Laser Grid

  • Item type
    • Foreground (Block)
  • Hardness (how long it takes to break)
    • 5 hits; 4 hits (Enhanced Digging)
  • Grow time
    • 0 week
    • 3 days
    • 15 hours
    • 54 minutes
    • 32 seconds
  • Gems dropped
    • 0 to 18

Laser Grids are dangerous. They’re easy to break. But if you’re in a BFG ("Break For Gems" world), chances are that you might die in one of these. You could lose your gems, so if you don’t have a Checkpoint nearby, you’re in trouble.

Still, I recommend you give these a try. More folks are discovering new farmables every day, like myself finding out that Director Chairs work too! (I’ve been farming them since 2017.) Just a DYK.

Why Laser Grid Farmable is Great

  • A popular choice for the masses
  • Decent gem drop rate
  • BFG breaker magnet

5. Pinball Bumper

  • Item type
    • Foreground (Block)
  • Hardness (how long it takes to break)
    • 7 hits; 6 hits (Enhanced Digging)
  • Grow time
    • 0 week
    • 1 day
    • 17 hours
    • 47 minutes
    • 47 seconds
  • Gems dropped
    • 0 to 18

Pinball Bumpers, on top of Laser Grids, are amongst the most annoying to farm on my list. If the Grids kill ya, then Pinballs throw you off into the other edge of the world. These blocks are a classic with Growtopia farmables.

These drop up to 18 gems per block, and aren’t that hard to break (quite satisfying, actually). The best thing about these mediocre farming blocks is that they still sell well for world-building purposes. We often used pinballs for automation; whether it’s for making slime farms or WOTD (World of The Day) entries.

Go for it if you want something that’s safe and non-volatile.

Why Pinball Bumper Farmable is Great

  • Stable and economic

4. Pepper Tree

  • Item type
    • Foreground (Block)
  • Hardness (how long it takes to break)
    • 4 hits; 3 hits (Enhanced Digging)
  • Grow time
    • 0 week
    • 1 day
    • 5 hours
    • 13 minutes
    • 53 seconds
  • Gems dropped
    • 0 to 12

Pepper Trees are New Kids on the Block. Like cooking, a lucrative skill to have right now, they’re a core ingredient used for Pepper.

I’ve checked the market and although it takes a lot of pepper to make a quick buck, you might have a better time using it to cook. Gives a nice amount of gems, though!

Why Pepper Tree Farmable is Great

  • Easy to break, great gem count

3. Fish Tank

  • Item type
    • Background
  • Hardness (how long it takes to break)
    • 3 hits; 3 hits (Enhanced Digging)
  • Grow time
    • 0 week
    • 0 day
    • 20 hours
    • 55 minutes
    • 48 seconds
  • Gems dropped
    • 0 to 11

Fish Tanks are ‌obtained from the Fishin’ Pack or through splicing (Glass Pane Seed + Fishbowl Seed). They’re extremely easy to break and give a lot of seeds. You could also use them to store fish with.

Fish is useful either for displaying or for making sushi. Since we use Fish Tanks for more than just farming, that makes it easy to sell.

Go for it if you want something abundant and easily usable!

Why Fish Tank is Great

  • One of the few decent Background farmables (the next being Blackrock Wall)

2. Lovewillow’s Lace

  • Item type
    • Foreground (Block)
  • Hardness (how long it takes to break)
    • 3 hits; 3 hits (Enhanced Digging)
  • Grow time
    • 0 week
    • 0 day
    • 20 hours
    • 55 minutes
    • 48 seconds
  • Gems dropped
    • 0 to 11

Like Fish Tanks, Lovewillow’s Lace is another great alternative. Added in the 2020’s Valentine’s Week event, it drops up to 11 gems and is also used to make the Lovely Dinner Light.

Unfortunately, I still recommend Fish Tanks over Lovewillow’s Lace because it does not provide extra value to its branching crafting recipes.

Why Lovewillow’s Lace Farmable is Great

  • It is a Foreground item, meaning that BFG trolls won’t destroy your income.
  • It is in demand.

1. Sugar Cane

  • Item type
    • Foreground (Block)
  • Hardness (how long it takes to break)
    • 2 hits; 2 hits (Enhanced Digging)
  • Grow time
    • 0 week
    • 0 day
    • 4 hours
    • 2 minutes
    • 24 seconds
  • Gems dropped
    • 0 to 11

Sugar Cane is another Growtopian classic. It’s up there with the other ancient-and-forgotten farmable: Coral. How did it stand the test of time?

One hypothesis I have is, again, because of Cooking. With Sugar Cane, you can use a Food Grinder to get Sugar. Although it doesn’t give a lot of gems, I can guarantee you’ll make a lot just selling the sugar for 1-2 WL each or 2/WL. Or, well, whatever the prices now are since you’ve read this.

I’ve listed this as my Top 1 since it’s not only the cheapest but also the most affordable (and easily sold) farmable on my list. There’s the Venus Guytrap to make Spikes with, but I like my canes like I like my sweets.

Why Sugar Cane Farmable is Great

  • Lots of branching recipes for Sugar. Cooking is lucrative.
  • Always in demand

Whether you’re going off the first on our list or the last, you might also want to check this guide for extra mathematical shenanigans regarding gem drop on the widely used farmables.
