Honkai: Star Rail can be a challenging game. It’s a game that, surprisingly, gets harder the further along you go. The endgame content will constantly keep you on your toes; there’s a certain perception among the player base, an awareness and sensitivity toward teambuilding and synergy between characters. Without a team that makes sense (and performs well), you won’t have the ability to clear endgame content consistently.
And in a game with a lot of characters, you’ll need to know who to build, who to get, and which teams make the most sense. Once you’ve got an understanding of how teams work and what works well with which characters, you can experiment and find out which teams you like the most.
That being said, let’s talk team comps.
Acheron, Pela, Jiaoqiu, Gallagher
At this point in the game, everyone falls into one of two camps for endgame DPS: Feixiao and Acheron. This team is one of the best comps Acheron can work with; Jiaoqiu provides absurd debuff application, which Acheron needs for her ult, Pela provides a resistance shred, and Gallagher’s ult gives you two more debuffs to work with. Overall, this team is going to offer high uptime on Acheron’s ult, meaning you’ll be ready to obliterate everything in the endgame without giving it much thought. Acheron is one of the best DPS units, and she’ll probably be there for a long, long time coming.
Why this team?
- Versatility. This team is incredibly versatile. It’s good for all facets of endgame; Gold and Gears, Pure Fiction, Memory of Chaos, Divergent Universe, Swarm Disaster, and probably Apocalyptic Shadow (though you’d need to ensure the enemy has the right weakness types).
- Element coverage. It’s generally good against all enemy types, no exceptions here. Even that Memory Zone Meme, Faded Rage (the T-Rex whose shields you need to break), and, with Jiaoqiu, that fire-breathing T-Rex. Thanks to having a healer who does good break damage and two debuff-inflicting units (and a carry who can deal AoE damage like no one else), you won’t find yourself struggling against any enemies.
- Debuff (and boss) removal! Thanks to Acheron’s kit, all bosses are gonna get melted right away. Have a debuff on your Acheron? Gallagher’s E can fix that. And Pela can shred their resistances. Jiaoqiu, too, can make them take even more damage from Acheron. Overall, you’re in for a smooth ride with this comp.
How It Works
- Debuff application. Acheron needs debuffs inflicted on the enemy. Her kit involves “crimson knots,” which need to be placed on enemies for her ult to deal the maximum amount of damage. These stack at a maximum of 9, and every time she ults, one slash consumes three stacks. She needs one debuff application to get one stack for her ult. She can ult once she acquires nine of these stacks, doing three slashes; each slash consumes three of her stacks.
- Consistency of application. Jiaoqiu provides an almost constant debuff application. Every turn Acheron will be gaining a stack or more. Remember to use Jiaoqiu’s ult every single time it’s up, and try to make it so his ult has 100% uptime, or as close to it as you can get.
- Resistance shred. Pela needs to be using her E to apply her debuff. It costs a skill point every turn, and you’ll need to manage them so Gallagher can heal in the case of an emergency, but try to keep her def shred debuff up as long as possible.
- Knot stacks. Try to get enemies to 9 knots before ult, and try not to waste debuff applications. Meaning, if Acheron has her ult, don’t use Pela’s E again until after you’ve used Acheron’s ult–unless, of course, you need it because the debuff expired.
- Speed. Make sure you’ve got enough speed on Jiaoqiu to be going before Acheron; optionally, you may want to invest speed into all your other units as well (or at least just Pela).

Seele, Silverwolf, Sparkle, Fu Xuan
Seele is one of the most slept-on and underrated DPS characters in HSR. Alongside her two supports in this team, she’s an incredibly powerful, versatile character.
What It’s Good At
- Elemental weakness transplant. With Silverwolf, who can put elemental weaknesses on enemies, you don’t need to worry about whether or not an enemy is Quantum Weak or not. This team works incredibly well against boss-type enemies because of this, but it’s not as good as it otherwise would be against multiple enemies.
- Pure Fiction. Seele is one of the best units in Pure Fiction because she gets an immediate turn after defeating an enemy. This means she’s good against enemies who spawn allies or spawn in with multiple allies.
- Apocalyptic Shadow. Because of Silverwolf, who implants new weaknesses onto enemies (even if they don’t have them), you can put Quantum Weakness onto a boss, thereby meaning Seele is capable of fighting any boss enemies.
How It Works
- Focus on defeating units with SeeleMake sure you’re only killing enemies with Seele, and try to balance the speed of Sparkle and Seele.
- Fu Xuan’s matrix application. Apply Fu Xuan’s matrix, or her skill, as often as you possibly can. Otherwise, you’ll take way too much damage and you won’t have the ability to recover HP (except by using Fu Xuan’s Ultimate).
- Silverwolf targeting. Try to implant Quantum Weaknesses onto all the boss/elite-type enemies you encounter, otherwise you won’t get much mileage out of your Silverwolf.
- Turn sequence & speed tuning. Try to kill an enemy to get Seele’s second turn. Also, remember that you can have one turn with Seele, then get your second turn, then ult, and get another turn. Theoretically, you can get four turns in a row out of Seele.
- Sparkle and Seele synergy. Use Sparkle to get another turn after Seele goes, thus granting you a second turn. If you use it right, you can use four Seele turns in a row and then get yourself two more with Sparkle.

Firefly, Ruan Mei, Harmony Trailblazer, Lingsha
Firefly is, alongside Acheron, Feixiao, Dr. Ratio, and Dan IL (Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae) among the best DPS units in the game. And, to be honest, Firefly, Feixiao, and Acheron are in worlds of their own.
What It’s Good At
- Weakness breaking enemies. Yeah, everyone likes it when you get to break an enemy’s shield. It slows them, then you get to attack more. But what if you add in some Superbreak with that? The damage gets a little crazy. High damage numbers, constant breaks…what more could you need? This team excels in anything break-related.
- Apocalyptic shadow. Honestly, nothing frustrates me more in this game than AS, and that’s because I’ve procrastinated building my HTB and haven’t gotten a single break effect character other than Himeko, I suppose. So don’t be like me; build your characters, grab a Firefly, and thrive in AS.
- Memory of Chaos. Yeah, Firefly maintains her place at the top for good reasons. She does incredible damage. With a team centered around break effect, MoC 12 becomes more than just doable.
How It Works
- SP usage. Make sure you’re using your SP wisely. You don’t want to run out of it. Also, make sure you make proper usage of Lingsha’s ult; it inflicts a debuff called “befog,” on enemies that increases the break damage taken by 25%. It also restores HP!
- Ruan Mei skill uptime. Always, and I mean ALWAYS, make sure you’ve got Ruan Mei’s skill active. She’s among the best supports in the game. When she uses her skill, she gets one stack of “overtone.” Overtone increases the damage of all allies by 32% at level 10. It also increases break efficiency by 30%.
- RM ultimate. Ruan Mei’s ult is something to keep in mind here. Firstly, she increases all-type res pen by 25% and makes allies apply an effect, Thanatoplum Rebloom, to enemies hit. This debuff essentially makes it so that when they try to recover from being weakness broken, their weakness break duration is extended and their action delayed. The delay scales off of Ruan Mei’s break effect.
- Harmony trailblazer skill and ult. Everyone loves the protagonist, right? Caelus or Stelle, whoever you chose in the beginning, is another piece of this beautiful break-effect puzzle. You’ll want to be using Trailblazer’s ult as frequently as possible, as it gives the buff “Backup Dancer.” After ulting, you get 3 stacks of Backup Dancer, which decrease by one each turn. When allies attack enemy targets that are in the weakness-broken state, the toughness reduction of the attack will be converted into one instance of super break damage.
- Synergized break effect. One of the things you’ll notice about this team is its emphasis on break effect. To be honest, you could theoretically replace units with others here; Lingsha with Gallagher is just one example. The most important thing about this team is that you’re building it off of break effect. That’s where all your damage will come from.

Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae, Sparkle, Tingyun, Huohuo
A long time after his release, Dan Heng Imbibitor Lunae (often shortened to “Dan Il/il/IL”) is still among the greatest DPS characters in the game. His only drawback is that he’s incredibly SP hungry; this means that, despite your best intentions, you may just end up completely drained of SP trying to deal big damage numbers to enemies. There are a few things you can do to make it easier on yourself, though. Let’s talk about it.
What It’s Good At
- Good at absolutely destroying everything in the game. Especially if it has imaginary weakness. There’s almost nothing in the game that can survive a well-built Dan Il with a Sparkle.
- AoE. Because Dan Il deals AoE attacks once you’ve invested enough SP into his skill, you’ll be able to deal consistent damage to not just one, but three enemies (although most of the damage goes to the middle unit).
- Consistent Ultimates. With characters like Sparkle and Tingyun in the team, you’ll be able to get fairly consistent Dan Il ults off. This means more damage and, because of the way his ult functions, less SP usage.
How It Works
- Sparkle turn trading. Sparkle serves to grant Dan Il another turn after he uses his action. And, with her ult and passive (which allow you to get up to 7 skill points), it also means you can use more of Dan Il’s expensive attacks.
- Speed tuning. Make sure to run Sparkle with as much speed as you can. 160 is the ideal, but if you can’t get enough crit damage just yet, don’t worry about it. Just know you want more speed to get more turns in, and you want Sparkle’s ultimate up as often as it can be.
- Huohuo. Huohuo will increase your attack by a solid amount and also provide much-needed HP regen. She can dispel debuffs and also give energy regen, which makes her a stellar unit to combine with Tingyun for Dan Il. Remember, we want as many ults as possible.
- Tingyun buffs and energy restoration. Tingyun, alongside Huohuo, offers a lot of energy regeneration and buffs. Try not to overdo it on the buffs (as in, don’t use them if they’re still up) because we need our SP for Dan Il, and Sparkle isn’t going to give us infinite.
- Sp monitoring. You’ll need to watch out for how much SP you use. Don’t be afraid of not going all in on your Dan Il attacks, especially if he isn’t buffed. Buff him first, and then try to make the most of his attacks. Sparkle’s increase to your SP cap will come in handy. Once you use your Dan Il ult, you’ll be able to use the free points he gains to deal big damage.

Blade, Jingliu, Luocha, Jade
Blade is our resident emo boy. He loves death and is out there in the universe trying to find it. The problem? Well, he can’t die. Not even in the meta.
What It’s Good At
- Follow-up attacks. We’ve got some FUA in this team. Blade, if you can get him to tank some damage, will eventually do a follow-up attack. The best part is? Pair him with Jingliu, who drains the HP of her teammates, and you can add a stack to his passive.
- Pure Fiction. Lots and lots of DPS. No need for any buffers, right? Just slap some HP on Blade, some speed and crit rate and damage on Jingliu, and you’re good, man. Oh, and don’t forget about Jade.
- Simulated Universe. Luocha has an incredible healing potential. He’ll monitor your team’s hp and do an interesting little follow-up heal. Because of that, as long as you can stack destruction buffs in Sim Uni, your Blade can be monstrous.
How It Works
- HP decrease mechanic. Blade needs his HP drained. Jingliu and Jade can both “take,” the HP of their teammates. Provided you can get your Blade hit, you’ll be able to do his follow-up attack pretty consistently. Blade + JL is something people have been thinking about for a long time.
- Luocha healing. Luocha heals Blade and the rest of the team when their HP is drained. This is important, otherwise you’ll…y’know, drain your whole team dry of HP and die to yourself. Which, although that’s what dear Bladie wants, we can’t let him have it.
- Jade skill and contract. Jade signs that contract of hers with Bladie and drains his HP like a mosquito. We need 5 instances of damage for Blade’s follow-up attack, and here we have 3; his skill, Jade, and Jingliu. Problem? Boy, that’s a lot of SP….
- SP usage. So, skill points are flying out absurdly fast. Honestly, replacing Jade with Sparkle isn’t a terrible idea, but we’re going with the mosquito team here, so don’t give up just yet. You’ve got 5 SP. Use that wisely.
- Jingliu’s ultimate and passive. Jingliu’s Moon on Glacial River, usable once she acquires 2 Stacks of Syzygy, doesn’t require skill points to use. So she’s not that SP-hungry herself. Just be wary, having to balance between Luocha, Jade, and Blade.

Dr. Ratio, Topaz, Robin, Aventurine
Ever wondered how you could get this guy to work? Well, if you’re someone who has been playing the game since before it got nominated for the Mobile Game Awards last year, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to note that this guy is among the greatest units in the game, especially against singular enemies.
What It’s Good At
- Melting Bosses in MoC. Dr. Ratio is one of the strongest DPS characters in the game, although he lacks versatility like some of the other DPS units. The benefit is that Aventurine can deal quite a bit of AoE damage with his follow-up attack, although it’s not enough to fully compensate.
- Simulated Universe and Everything Between. Because Ratio is capable of dishing out such high damage numbers (and because you can buff FUA in Sim Uni), this team excels in pretty much all game modes of Simulated Universe.
- Follow-up Attacks. With this comp, you’ll be focused a lot on FUA. Ratio wants debuffs as well, so having a unit capable of inflicting them (Topaz) makes Ratio all the better.
How It Works
- Robin buffs. Robin’s buffs are going to help your team maintain high damage output. She increases the damage dealt by all allies by 50% at trace level 10 of her skill. It lasts 3 turns, and whenever she ults, she increases attack by an absurd amount.
- Dr Ratio deals damage for the whole team. He’s the one you’re reliant upon to deal damage. Remember, Ratio does quite well with debuffers. Whenever he uses a skill, Ratio has a 40% chance to do a follow-up attack. Every debuff on an enemy unit increases the odds of him doing his FUA by 20%. This is fixed, so if you have two, you’d have an 80% chance.
- Aventurine provides a shield. He’s very SP-friendly, his shields are absurd, and he offers great synergy with Veritas Ratio, the fan-favorite nerd.
- Topaz offers status effects, namely “Proof of Debt.” With her signature lightcone, she can inflict a debuff called the “Tame,” state.
- Lots and lots of follow-ups. You’ll want to make sure to use Robin’s skill to buff, Aventurine’s skill to shield, and Topaz’s skill to inflict a debuff that Dr. Ratio can make use of. All in all, the team excels at single-target damage.

Feixiao, Aventurine, Topaz, Robin
Feixiao brings the whole gym with her when you use her in endgame content. With the ability to stack two ults and no need to worry about energy, she’s nearly a mirror of Acheron. Feixiao maintains her place as the pinnacle of DPS characters.
What It’s Good At
- Waveclear content. Because of Topaz, Aventurine, and Feixiao synergizing so well together, you’ll actually do quite well in endgame PF and Sim Uni waveclear-based content.
- Boss battles. Feixiao’s single target damage is absolutely absurd. She’s Queen DPS, and that’s not changing any time soon.
- Constant attacks. Thanks to having 3 FUA in one team, Feixiao is able to get consistent turns in.
How It Works
- FUA consistency. Because of your FUA-based team, Feixiao will be hitting quite consistently, given that she can follow up on another character’s follow-up attack. This counts for Topaz’s Numby.
- Robin’s buffs. Robin buffs everyone. Everyone has a follow-up attack. Everyone is happy!
- Aventurine sustains. Aventurine is your sustain/shielder. Use his skill for high-uptime shields.
- Numby. Topaz’s numby gets a lot of turns, thus enabling Feixiao to stack up for her ultimate.
- Feixiao ultimate.Once you can, ult with Feixiao and start spamming that button after ensuring she has been buffed by Robin.

Qingque, Sparkle, Silverwolf, Fu Xuan
Can I interest you in some gambling for your gambling game? Yes? I’ve got a team for you, man. It involves everyone’s favorite slacker, Qingque, or QQ for short!
What It’s Good At
- Bosses. You might doubt this. How could a 4 star be a good DPS for all endgame content? Well, friend, allow me to introduce you to Star Rail’s best gambler. MoC and Pure Fiction are especially easy with her.
- AoE. Big damage to lots of enemies.
- SP maintenance. QQ, as the resident gambler, costs a lot of SP, even when you’ve got her at e6. So if you can grab yourself a Sparkle, you’ll be in for a lot of fun. She’s not required, but she does make it a lot easier to manage SP.
How It Works
- QQ drains all your SP. Nah, but really, you’ll want to invest a lot of SP into your skill to get 4 of the same tiles. That’s why it’s important to run characters that don’t use too much SP alongside her.
- Fu Xuan offers sustain, and her Matrix of Presience lasts for 3 turns, making her incredibly SP friendly.
- Sparkle offers both buffs and SP for your QQ. Since she increases the cap to 7, you’ll have a little less to worry about. Although Qingque still drains
- Silverwolf implants quantum weakness on enemies, thus making sure you’re always dealing the most damage. She also lowers resistances, which in turn makes QQ deal even more damage.
- Sparkle’s ultimate gives you more SP. Four points, to be exact. Theoretically, you can use this to get two of her 4 tile attacks back to back. Not many bosses will enjoy being on the receiving end of that.

Boothill, Harmony Trailblazer, Ruan Mei, Gallagher
The first space cowboy we’ve seen in Honkai: Star Rail has a lot to offer in the break department.
What It’s Good At
Weakness breaks. Boothill provides incredibly efficient, and consistent, weakness breaks to physical-weak enemies.
Superbreak damage. With HTB, you’ll have the opportunity to deal Superbreak damage. Given the current state of the game, where most often you’ll see high-end teams making use of break effect, it’s important to have at least one team built around break effect.
Fighting bosses. Because Boothill lacks AoE damage, his break effect excels in single-target boss fights. He’s a little niche, but once he’s an option, he’s fun and powerful.
How It Works
High damage output, although dependent on the weakness type of the enemy. It’s restricted, but as long as you’re fighting an enemy susceptible to physical damage, Boothill will excel.
Gallagher offers debuff cleanse and healing.
Ruan Mei provides buffs for the team, increasing all-type res pen with her ult and all damage dealt with her skill.
Harmony Trailblazer enables superbreak but is most viable when you’re able to weakness-break enemies. Once you can, though, Superbreak deals an absurd amount of damage and cannot be underestimated.
Keep buffing Boothill with Ruan Mei, and keep using Boothill to chip away slowly at the enemy’s shield. Once weakness broken, full send and try to score some massive numbers with Superbreak.

Yunli, Tingyun, Robin, Huohuo
Ever since she was added, Yunli has become a Clara replacement. In some teams, she may even be able to fill the role of a Preservation character, but it’s risky; outside of her ult, she doesn’t have a way to guarantee an enemy’s aggro.
What It’s Good At
- Boss battles. If you ult with Yunli and then get hit, you’ll deal a bonus 100% crit damage to enemies. And given the structure of the team, with an increase to damage from all three other party members, you can expect a hyper-buffed Yunli to destroy bosses.
- High ult uptime. With Tingyun and Huohuo offering energy regeneration, Yunli can have her ult up nearly all the time. Tingyun at e6 provides half of the energy Yunli needs to ult.
- Pure Fiction & other wave-based content. Because Yunli’s ultimate deals lots of AoE, and her skill does as well, you’ll have a pretty easy time clearing Pure Fiction and Simulated Universe. The only downside is that Yunli can’t block AoE attacks for the rest of the team, but she will trigger a follow-up attack if she gets hit.
How It Works
- Yunli tanks aggro to parry and deal damage.
- Robin buffs Yunli and the rest of the team. She increases attack, crit damage, and overall damage. The buffs are endless.
- Tingyun provides energy with her ult for Yunli and also gives an increase to damage with her skill.
- Huohuo gives good buffs and also gives energy to the other units. Make sure to ult as much as you can. Remember, Huohuo is your primary healer here; get Yunli to soak damage, then heal her with Huohuo’s skill.
- Yunli ult sequence. Make sure you use Yunli ult right before the enemy’s turn. It needs to be, at the very least, on the last teammate’s turn before an enemy goes. Once you do this, Yunli’s taunt will activate, an enemy will hit her, and her next parry will deal 100% more crit damage.
