[Top 3] Honkai Star Rail Best Luocha Builds That Are Powerful

Honkai Star Rail Best Luocha Builds That Are Powerful
I'm a traveling merchant, merely passing through. Nothing suspicious to see here.

Luocha is a charming and attractive young man with blonde hair who carries a large coffin on his back. He works as an intergalactic merchant but got caught in the Stellaron crisis of Xianzhou Luofu. However, his expertise in medicine proved to be useful during this time.

There’s a lot more to Luocha than the eye meets. Even his name has an interesting meaning in Chinese(Luocha) and Japanese(Rasetsu).

I will let you discover the particularities yourself, but it has “evil” connotations. It may not be a surprise to Honkai Impact 3rd players who know his equivalent - Otto. That being said, in Star Rail, he is a bit of a mystery.

When we first meet Luocha in the story, he's a big help to Dan Heng in getting to where he needs to go. In the companion mission, we get some fun insights into Luocha's personality and goals, but nothing is set in stone. There seems to be a special bond between Welt and Luocha, but we don't yet know exactly what it is.

There’s also an extra tidbit from which you can obtain the achievement “Coffin Dancer” if you haven’t yet, but that isn’t conclusive either. What is Luocha’s true role in the story? We can only guess at this point.

We do not know why he is important to the story yet. Still, his role in gameplay is crystal clear: He is a healer who scales on attack. That is a pretty sweet trait, considering most healers scale on health points.

Technically, you could also build Luocha as a healer and DPS hybrid. That is if you don’t mind losing some of his capabilities for medication. And thinking about it, you don’t even need that much healing if you have the right team with you.

Luocha’s Strengths:

  • He has strong heals - primarily for single targets. To be more specific, his skill can restore health points equal to 40% of Luocha’s attack plus 20. This is pretty sweet and can be increased even further with relics that have an outgoing healing boost as a main stat.
  • He makes up for his lack of multi-target heals with his Sanctified ability. He has a Field (Cycle of Life) that is deployed when he reaches two stacks of Abyss Flower(that are generated from his skill and ultimate). When an enemy in the field is attacked by Luocha, all allies except the attacker restore health points equal to 7% of Luocha’s attack plus 93.
  • He can remove buffs from enemies and also buff the team further with Eidolons. Luocha’s Ultimate has the effect of removing one buff from all enemies from the field which is pretty neat in itself. If you splurge and get one more copy of him, he can also increase all allies’ attacks by 20%.
  • Besides being able to remove buffs from enemies and buff allies with Eidolons, he can *also* remove debuffs from allies with his Cleansing Revival ability. This keeps your allies in the attacking game. Isn’t that awesome?
  • Luocha has sub-DPS potential alongside being able to heal due to high multipliers and attack scaling. This man is versatile and he can do both for you, as I mentioned earlier.
  • His element, Imaginary, can be quite beneficial against some enemies since the current roster of Imaginary characters is fairly limited. Most of them are five stars and Yukong is the only one who is a four star. Doctor Ratio who will release soon is also an Imaginary character, but he is a five-star character too.
  • Luocha can be pretty easy to build since he doesn’t need to focus on too many substats. Slap some attack and speed on him and you are generally good. If you want to be fancy, you can also use outgoing healing, effect resistance, HP, or energy regeneration on him.
  • He is virtually immune to crow control debuffs thanks to another of his bonus abilities. He has a whopping 70% chance to resist them. This leads to him being an active healer who doesn’t get held back by the enemies’ tricks.

3. The Maximized Utility Build

The Maximized Utility Build

Abyss flower, bloom.

As the name suggests, this build is the one that maximizes Luocha’s healer capabilities. This build may have a chance of overhealing, but it can be helpful if you have squishy characters in your team or you are just starting out playing the game. It works by building up Luocha’s attack and speed as well as his outgoing healing.

This build is excellent for people new to the game. That is also one of the reasons it’s one of the best. Besides this, it’s also significantly easier to obtain the relics needed for this, provided you have a teensy bit of luck.

The Maximized Utility Build is perfect for those who want to make the most of Luocha's abilities, including his Field. Although it's not the speediest, it more than makes up for it by providing consistent healing to your allies. This build is a great choice if you're looking for a team player who can keep your team alive, without any specific requirements. To sum it up, this build isn’t that special. It doesn’t produce any feelings of awe as to what Luocha can do, but it works. The reason is simple: it provides the most healing he is capable of.

How to play this build:

What The Maximized Utility Build Excels In:

  • This build provides the most healing. It ensures your team’s survivability is maximized. This may sound obvious, but it’s still one of the reasons I chose it for this top.
  • It is the easiest to build. Luocha isn’t needy or picky when it comes to his Relics or Light Cones here if you ensure his best stats (attack & speed) are covered.
  • It is perfect for people who just started playing the game and don’t have a lot of options regarding equipment.

Build details:

  • The best Light Cone for this build is Quid Pro Quo - not in the sense of it providing the most value, but in the sense of it being the most accessible of the Light Cones that function on Luocha. It provides 12 energy at the start of the wearer’s turn to a randomly chosen ally whose current Energy is lower than 50%.
  • Alternative Light Cones that work for this build: Post-Op  Conversation, Shared Feeling, Perfect Timing, Warmth Shortens Cold Nights. If you don’t have these and can only use 3-star Light Cones, Cornucopia, Fine Fruit or Multiplication could work too.
  • For Character Ascension Materials you will need: 300K Credits, 15 Artifex’s Module, 15 Artifex’s Cogwheel, 15 Artifex’s Gyreheart, and 65 Golden Crown of the Past Shadow in total
  • For Max Trace Level Ascension you will need the following materials: 3M Credits, 41 Artifex’s Module, 56 Artifex’s Cogwheel, 58 Artifex’s Gyreheart, 18 Seed of Abundance, 69 Sprout of Life, 139 Flower of Eternity, 12 Guardian’s Lament and 8 Tracks of Destiny.
  • For your Light Cone, you will need 15 Artifex’s Module, 15 Artifex’s Cogwheel, 12 Artifex’s Gyreheart,  3 Seed of Abundance, 9 Sprout of Life, 12 Flower of Eternity
  • The Trace priority for this build should be Skill > Talent > Ultimate > Basic Attack. For the other traces, you should unlock the main ones such as Sanctified, Cleansing Revival, and Through the Valley as soon as possible. For the smaller ones, I recommend focusing on the ones with Attack, then HP, then Defense.
  • His Relics are interesting since you can build a 4-piece set of Musketeer of Wild Wheat or you can choose to make it a 2-piece set and add 2-pieces of Passerby of Wandering Cloud instead. This will probably depend most on what your luck is in getting the Relics with the most appropriate stats.
  • For Ornaments, the Broken Keel may be the best one for this build in the sense that it provides the most Effect Resistance which is useful if you want Luocha to be active and resist crowd control debuffs best. For beginners to this game, though, Space Healing Station will work just fine too.
  • Now, for the main stats: Body Piece should have Healing on it, Boots would be best with Speed, the Planar Sphere is best with Attack on it, while the Link Rope will prioritize Energy Recharge Rate over Attack.
  • For substats: Effect Resistance(remember the Broken Keel?) > Speed > Attack > HP

Best Team For This Build:

Technically, any character would work in this team since it focuses on healing and utility which is always needed in a composition.

An example of a good team (especially for FTP), though, would be Luocha + Dan Heng + Serval + Asta. This would work because Dan Heng can slow the enemy down and Asta can speed up the team and offer attack buffs. And Luocha can benefit from any speed and attack he is offered. Serval is also a pretty good DPS who can deal Shock DoT.

2.  The Utility & Sub-DPS Hybrid Build

The Utility & Sub-DPS Hybrid

Receive divinity!

In this article, I'm sharing a few different builds with you, but I have to say, the Hybrid build is the most balanced one out of all of them. It's not too focused on healing, and it's not a full sub-DPS build either. The build I use is quite similar to the one I'm recommending in this section.

It works by providing Luocha with the attack and speed he needs to heal. To spice it up, though, this build also implements imaginary damage instead of attack stats for the Planar Sphere. It is currently one of the best builds because it lets Luocha shine as a jack of all trades - neither doing too much damage, nor too much healing.

This build combines the best of both worlds. It is not overly complicated to make, which is why I prefer it. However, it doesn't fully utilize Luocha's potential, which is why it takes second place instead of first.

How to play this build:

What the Utility & Sub-DPS Build Excels in:

  • It brings both attack and healing to the table. Ever wanted a character who can do both? Luocha is the answer. It may not excel in either, but it’s a decent pair of capabilities.
  • It’s fairly easy to build. If you have a bit more experience with the game, this can be pretty fun to choose to assemble equipment for.
  • It takes advantage of Luocha’s versatility as a jack of all trades. He can heal, attack, debuff enemies, cleanse allies, and more.

Build Details:

We might have gone over them for the third spot, but I will start with the materials for ease of access:

  • If you can get it, Night of Fright is a pretty good Light Cone, as well as Time Waits for No One.
  • If not, the others I mentioned are fine as well:  Quid Pro Quo, Post-Op  Conversation, Shared Feeling, Perfect Timing, Warmth Shortens  Cold Nights, etc.
  • The Trace priority for this build should be: Skill >= Talent > Ultimate >  Basic Attack
  • The other traces you should prioritize are of course: Sanctified, Cleansing Revival, and Through the Valley. For the smaller nodes, Attack is a must, then HP and Defense.
  • Since this is a pretty versatile build, you could technically go for the Musketeer’s 4-piece, but let’s try and be creative, shall we? That is why we shall throw 2 pieces of Messenger Traversing Through Hackerspace and 2 pieces of Muskeeter’s or Passerby’s. You could also be a bit wild and use a 2-piece Wastelander of Banditry Desert and a 2-piece Musketeer of Wild Wheat.
  • For Ornaments, Fleet of the Ageless may represent the best choice if you can get over 120 Speed on Luocha with the help of the Messenger Relics or other substats and bonuses.
  • This build focuses on almost the same stats as the previous one: Healing for the Body piece and Speed for the Boots, as well as prioritizing Energy Recharge over Attack for the Link Rope. For the Planar Sphere, though, Imaginary damage is the way to go.
  • For substats, the best are Effect Resistance > Speed > Attack > HP

Best Team For This Build:

Luocha +Welt + Bronya + Tingyun would be a viable team for this build. With Luocha's ability to provide passive healing through his Talent, he can provide high sustain for high-speed team comps that can also attack multiple times before the field from his Talent expires.

What is great about Luocha is that he can work in almost any team composition as a solo support given how great his supportive tools are. In this scenario, though, Welt may be necessary if you use the Wandering Banditry set.

1. The Sub-DPS Build

The Sub-DPS Build

Eternal sleep is not the end...

This is the build that you’ve all been waiting for. The first in the list, with Luocha acting as a Sub-DPS. It focuses more on critical stats and attack than any other as here we aim to deal the most damage.

If you're looking to maximize Luocha's Sub-DPS potential while still retaining some of his healing abilities, then this build is worth checking out!

I think it’s fair to say e that this build focuses on doing as much damage as possible. I haven’t had the opportunity to try it out myself, but I can say that I am looking forward to doing so. I would love to see what Luocha can do in a scenario where he attacks most instead of protecting.

How to play this build:

What The Sub-DPS Build Excels In:

  • This build excels in dealing damage. I mean, it’s sort of obvious, but it has to be said. If you use the Wandering Banditry set, for example, you can have a high critical rate and critical damage against imprisoned enemies.
  • It also is best to use with other Imaginary characters such as Yukong and Welt. These two can increase the chances of enemies being imprisoned. And Yukong also increases attack, which this Luocha especially benefits from.
  • It is a high investment, high reward build. This may not be a great quality, but sometimes it is worth splurging a bit more to see the best a character can do.

Build Details:

  • This may be self-explanatory, but Luocha’s signature Light Cone, Echoes of the Coffin, is the best to use for him. Especially for this build. It increases the wearer’s attack by 24%, regenerates energy after the wearer uses an attack, and after the wearer uses his Ultimate, allies gain 12 SPD for 1 turn.
  • Alternative Light Cones could be Quid Pro Quo, Post-Op  Conversation, Shared Feeling, Perfect Timing, Warmth Shortens  Cold Nights, etc.
  • The Trace priority for this build should be: Talent >= Ultimate > Skill > Basic Attack
  • The other traces you should prioritize are indeed: Sanctified, Cleansing Revival, and Through the Valley. For the smaller nodes, Attack is the best, then HP and Defense.
  • For this particular build, a 4-piece Wastelander of Banditry Desert is viable. You could also go for a 2-piece Musketeer of Wild Wheat and a 2-piece Wastelander. Your imagination is the limit.
  • For the Ornaments, Sprightly Voncwacq is no longer a dream. You can increase the wearer’s energy regeneration rate, and if you manage to get Luocha’s speed to 120, you also get a sweet, sweet advancing forward of his actions by 40% when entering battle.
  • The stats we focus on for this build are interesting: Crit Rate or Damage over Attack for Body, Speed for Boots, Imaginary Attack for the Planar Sphere, and Energy Recharge Rate or Attack for the Link Rope.
  • As for the substats, this time we of course focus on critical rate and damage, then attack, followed by Speed, and in the end either HP or Defense or Effect Resistance,

Best Team For This Build:

Luocha can, once again, benefit greatly from having another Imaginary character on the team. But for this particular team composition, we changed it up a little. In this way, we have Luocha + Welt + Yukong + Silver Wolf.

With Luocha and Silver Wolf, it’s possible to make an imaginary mono-element team that can work in any fight. However, all characters in this team will need to be geared toward doing damage. If going for this team, it’s highly recommended to have Luocha and all the Imaginary characters use Wastelander of Banditry Desert to maximize their damage output.
