One of the rarest ores in Minecraft is diamonds. Diamonds are one of the most sought out items in the game. Used for powerful tools and armor, players go into the mines to obtain diamonds and other important minerals. 

Diamonds spawn in the deepest parts of the underground world. To maximize your share of diamonds, mining within the correct levels of a natural diamond spawn is essential. Today I’m going to be counting down the best levels to find diamonds in Minecraft.

NOTICE:  Diamonds appear only between layers 1-16. 

10. Level 4

Level 4 of the mines is one of the lowest levels in Minecraft. Containing bedrock, level 4 is one of 5 levels in-game that contains the unbreakable block. 

What Makes Level 4 Great for Diamonds: 

• Level 4 sits right below the threshold of the hotspot for diamonds (levels 5-12).
• Level 4 averages nearly 90,000 diamonds distributed over a 416,342 chunk area.

9. Level 13

In a similar position as level 4, level 13 is conveniently in the right spot to make it on this list. It has its own upsides but is also near some really expensive levels.

• Level 13 averages nearly 100,000 diamonds distributed over a 416,342 chunk area. Players are going to want to check out this level.
• It is directly above the most diamond rich level in the game.

8.  Level 9

Level 9 is a great level to hunt for diamonds but it can come at a price. Lava spawns in the overworld most below level 11 and this includes level 9. 

What Makes Level 9 Great for Diamonds:

• Within the level 5-12 diamond threshold. 
•  Level 9 averages nearly 115,000 diamonds distributed over a 416,342 chunk area. 

7. Level 10

Getting to level 10 should prove to be no problem for players since it is in the middle of the diamond sweet spot. Much like level 9, lava can be a problem so be careful!

• Within the diamond threshold. 

6. Level 7

Deeper in the mines, level 7 is a slight increase in diamond spawn percentage than level 10 and will offer those who reach it, a plethora of ores.

• Near the bottom half of the 5-12 diamond threshold. 

5. Level 8

With one of the highest distributions of diamonds in the game, level 8 is surely a level you will want to pay close attention to when searching for diamonds.

4. Level 11 

With virtually the same spawn rate as level 7, level 11 is ranked higher on this list due to its proximity to level 12, arguably the best level to find diamonds in the game.

• At the top of the diamond level threshold, with extra points for proximity. 

3. Level 6

Kicking off our top 3 is level 6. With a high distribution of diamonds on this level, players will surely want to stick around to find the riches that it offers.

• Within the 5-12 threshold.

2. Level 5

The first level that spawns bedrock in the Overworld, Level 5 is the highest-ranking low level for diamond generation. If players are wanting to look for bedrock while finding loads of diamonds, then level 5 is the level for them.

• Just within the 5-12 threshold & bonus points for being close to level 6 which has a large percentage of diamonds as well.

1. Level 12

Arguably the best level to search for diamonds is level 12. Minecraft Content creators rave about the success of Level 12 across various channels such as Freddy, ibxtoycat, EvilUndeadMonk, and more. Its popularity and diamond percentage place it at number one.

What Makes Level 12 Great for Diamonds: 

• Level 12 averages anywhere from 155,00-160,000 diamonds distributed over a 416,342 chunk area.
• At the very top of the 5-12 threshold, it is easier to reach this level & it is less likely that lava will spawn on this level.
