In the world of Resident Evil, the pistol has been the staple of the series. They may not be the most powerful guns in the game, but they help make your way through the game. In every Resident Evil game, you always start with a pistol. With Resident Evil 5, there’s no difference. Here we look at three handguns you shouldn't sleep on in Resident Evil 5. They can help get you out of a sticky situation in the right hands.
#3 M92F

The M92F is the first pistol that you will get in the game. After you talk to the BSAA contact, there will be a silver box that will have 2 M92F guns in there for Chris and Sheva. The M92F was the very first gun in the original Resident Evil game. The remake of Resident Evil introduced a custom-made M92F called the Samurai Edge. This version of the M92F is pretty solid after it’s fully upgraded. Fully upgrading the M92F will unlock the M93R pistol.
What makes the M92F great:
- Highest ammo capacity of all pistols with 100 rounds when upgraded
- Fully upgrading the M92F unlocks the M93R 3 burst pistol
- It has a critical hit upgrade of 3 stars for easier headshot kills
#2 M93R

The M93R is available only after fully upgrading the M92F. You can purchase the gun in the game store after unlocking it. The M93R was first used in Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Unlike in Code Veronica, this version of the M93R is already upgraded to shoot a 3 round burst fire. The 3 round burst makes firing off rounds easier. Conversely, if you want just to fire off single rounds, you will be able to. There is higher accuracy when doing single-round firing of this pistol.
What makes the M93R great:
- Has the second-highest firepower among all pistols
- The only gun with a 3 round burst
- Can fire off single rounds if needed at a more accurate rate
#1 H&K P8

Players can purchase the H&K P8 in the game store after reaching Chapter 2-3. The H&K model of guns debuted in Resident Evil 2 when Leon started with his H&K VP70. Players can’t upgrade the H&K P8 to a 3 round burst like its counterpart was in Resident Evil 2. However, the P8 is the most solid pistol in Resident Evil 5. With its piercing power and fast reload speed, you won’t have to worry much against the Majini hoards that are after you. Players can purchase upgrades for the H&K P8 to give this pistol superior piercing power, which will help against enemies in rows or with armor.
What makes the H&K P8 great
- Fastest reload speed among all pistols at 0.85 seconds when upgraded
- A piercing power of 5 when upgraded
- Solid firepower of 300 when upgraded
That concludes the top 3 pistols in Resident Evil 5. Whether you need one for headshots, slowing down a hoard of Majini, or cutting through the armored enemies later in the game, you now have the tools to pick the right pistol for each situation. Now get out there and stop those Majini!
